WTB: Flywheel/Clutch Tools

So I will be doing a clutch/flywheel job pretty soon.

Will need the flywheel breaker bar, flywheel stopper, pilot bearing remover.

Maybe we can set up some sort of "borrow". I am an honest guy, just a poor college fellow in Monterey CA. Local would be awesome.

Thanks.

54mm socket + impact wrench.

ftw.

good luck. its not exactly easy. if you were near by i'd (1) lend you my 54mm socket (2) let you do it at my friends dads house with air tools and (3) help you out. you can find 54mm sockets at sears. it'll take you a few minutes with an impact wrench and no sweat vs a lot of sweat with a breaker bar. it should be $30. i didnt use a flywheel stopper either. and i didnt replace the pilot bearing, iircc. i did replace the the throwout bearing and i went from an absolutely noiseless throwout bearing (there was nothing wrong with it, but i figured i might as well. new is better right?) to an incredibly noisy throwout bearing. so do that at your own risk.

Thanks for the willingness to help Kersh.

I don't have an impact gun, so getting a socket is worthless for me. I could borrow the impact gun from friends, but I don't know anyone who has a 3/4 drive. And I've looked online countless times for a 1/2 54mm socket impact. Breaker bar is how I will have to do it I guess.

Sorry to hear about your louder throwout, but mine is making a whirring sound as I let off the clutch, I think I need it.

Does anyone know if the wetpaper/grease trick will work for our pilot bearings?

Bump.

Clutch is ordered. But scorning at the thought of buying a Nut Wrench and Flywheel Stopper which I will probably only use twice in my life.

Does ANYONE want to borrow out their tools for me? I'm in Monterey, CA.

Please, help me?

Thanks.

I bought my nut wrench and flywheel stopper from here (bottom of page):

The ~$60 was worth it IMO.
You might be able to rent a slide hammer bearing puller from the local auto store for the pilot bearing since the one in the link above costs almost $120.
The alignment tool *should* come with the clutch kit.

Yeah,

I've read horror stories about the pilot bearing. Will probably forego that replacement, depending on the severity of wear on it. Right now though, I am more concerned with the nut wrench and stopper. Need a running car ASAP, serioulsy lol.
