But if you do the fog light the "real way" via a switch and adding a fuse, a DIY would be much appreciated! Some good documentation about running the wires from the back to the switch and fuse box would be truly awesome. It would win hands down as the best DIY for 2004! :) Omicron 01-06-2004, 10:43 PM LOL, well I hadn't really planned on doing that... but after you ask me so nicely, I'll have to think about it! doccable 01-07-2004, 12:05 AM Sweet! I didn't realize just how many mods you had done! Too cool! Hey, I'm working out the final details of the rear fog light installation... I'll keep you posted... Keep moddin'!:D -Doccable Omicron 01-07-2004, 01:02 PM Yup, I'm a modifyin FOOL! :D Funny thing is, I had forgotten how much I enjoy this kind of thing until I got this car. For that matter, I had forgotten how much fund just plain DRIVING can be until I got this car! broose 01-09-2004, 05:11 PM Did any of you guys successfully install your rear fog light yet? Omicron 01-09-2004, 07:21 PM Yup. Well, sorta... just got it mounted today. Still haven't decided how I want to wire it though. Glad you jumped in here Bruce, I was just gonna PM you about it. :) StealthTL 01-09-2004, 07:44 PM I have mine installed, had to change out the hi power fog bulb for some L.E.D.s, to make sure it wasn't too bright back there. O-guy, love all the mods! S Omicron 01-09-2004, 08:55 PM Thanks Stealth! :D BTW, funny, but my fog light looks just like yours! LOL :D takahashi 01-12-2004, 04:16 AM I am surprise that you are using the forum as your homepage for your 8... an idea I never thought of before Lock & Load 01-12-2004, 04:40 AM Omicron If i had to diagnose your behaviour i would classify you as suffering from : RX8 MODIFICATION DISORDER (LOL) Under other mods: Removal Of Sun Visor Airbag Sticker.( Great weight saving mod) HA HA HA HA . Seriously you obviously enjoy and love your RX8 (OBSESSIVELY) A real case of RX8 fever. Enjoy Michael Omicron 01-12-2004, 07:27 PM Originally posted by takahashi I am surprise that you are using the forum as your homepage for your 8... an idea I never thought of before Well, not really my "home" page... more a good place to keep track of everything I've done and am planning on doing. Figure people here will be interested. Enjoy Michael Yup, you're right Michael, I am a bit taken with this car. :D Oh, and it's "RX-8 Modomanic Disorder" in medical circles. :D JeRKy 8 Owner 01-20-2004, 12:31 AM Omicron Ivegot a question for you. Have you seenany significant performance gains from those 3 mods youvedone? Or isit something like only 5 extrahorsies? Omicron 01-20-2004, 09:51 AM Well, I can feel the difference. I'd fairly certain the 3 combined yield something over 10HP, as that's what the old "butt dyno" can detect. But I plan to GTech time it soon, and will be getting a dyno done sometime in the near future. I'll post results when I get them. **EDIT** Note that this reply, as well as the question above, was regarding only the grounding kit. RE intake, and Borla catback exhaust. Any other mods other than those three (such as the CanZoomer Stage 1, which is worth 25 WHP alone) have been added later. Positron 01-20-2004, 10:37 AM Omicron - Can you install the rear fog light and the rear rotary accent together? Also, where did you get the rear fog light ? Thx. MM Omicron 01-20-2004, 10:46 AM I bought the rear fog light only, no wiring, from Canzoomer for $88. And yes you can install this fog with the rear rotary accent, although you have to shave about 3/8 of an inch off the back side of the rotary accent. I plan to do this down the road at some point, but pretty low priority. doccable 01-20-2004, 12:00 PM I'm hoping to do my rear fog install in the next couple of weeks. I already have the rear rotary accent, and will be posting a DIY when I get it done. It'll be included under this thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17002&perpage=15&highlight=rear%20fog%20light&pagenumber=6 As you'll note in that thread, I did purchase the entire kit. :) brothervoodoo 01-20-2004, 12:27 PM Originally posted by doccable As you'll note in that thread, I did purchase the entire kit. :) I have my eye on this thread.. ;) Icanrel-8 01-28-2004, 09:58 AM Originally posted by StealthTL I have mine installed, had to change out the hi power fog bulb for some L.E.D.s, to make sure it wasn't too bright back there. O-guy, love all the mods! S Ditto, OMG-icron! Uh, Stealth, are you using the rear fog as an extra brake light? I've considered the mod, but I think I'd keep the full power bulb (yes, I read the thread and I know it's very bright). I just imagine flipping on that rear foggy on I-70 coming out of the mountains in one of those pea-soup fogs, so the Macks don't flatten me. I Landon_Starr 02-12-2004, 12:39 PM Hey Paul.... Do you still like your rear fog light? Have you had any problems? Was it worth the $88? Any issues with the local policia? :) I'm thinking about buying one, but I think it may just be my psychotic aftermarket sickness taking hold (I believe I suffer from a form of "Rx-8 modomanic disorder" too, I just have yet to locate the funds to support my disorder). =) Let me know if you think it was worth it in the long run. --Landon Omicron 02-12-2004, 07:37 PM Ya know Landon, it's been too durn cold for me to mess with hooking it up yet. BUT, that being said, I love it! It's really unique and very good looking in a not-too-in-your-face kind of way. And even not hooked up, it makes an AWESOME reflector at night. during the day it also catches the light, and almost looks jewel-like. I would say that yes, it was definitely worth the money. JERCS 02-19-2004, 01:37 PM Omni: What do you think of the CZ Stage 1? Difference on Fuel? Is it req to have a cat-back exhaust with it, or do you think I could use the stock, and upgrade the exhaust later? Funny even before I read your post you have the exact mod's I was planning on. -Guy Landon_Starr 02-20-2004, 02:12 AM Exhaust is supposed to improve on the stage 1 (personally haven't seen any dyno charts w/ stage1 & exhaust....?). But the dyno's in canzoomer's place showing the 23.9 hp (or something like that) peak jump were without aftermarket exhaust, stock all around except the stage1. --Landon Omicron 02-21-2004, 03:23 AM Originally posted by JERCS Omni: What do you think of the CZ Stage 1? Funny even before I read your post you have the exact mod's I was planning on. -Guy I LOVE my stage 1... totally worth the money. Does not seem to have improved mileage much, but that's not what I bought it for. I expected a major kick in the performance department, and that's exactly what I got! I do know I can get 18 MPG in the city (see this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21292) for more info) but I'm pretty sure that the CZ St1 didn't contribute to that. Mostly driving habits. No, a catback exhaust (or ANY changes to the exhaust, for that matter) is not required with the Stage 1. But as Landon points out, it will help performance. :D Hope this helps... Omicron 02-22-2004, 06:18 PM Welp, my secret's out... I have never hooked up my rear fog because what I was planning on doing is EXACTLY what OverLOAD just did. He beat me to it, so I plan to buy this setup from him. Check it out: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21400 Is that not the coolest thing you've seen?!? :D Landon_Starr 02-26-2004, 04:12 PM That is pretty damn awesome. :) Very creative running the switch light through the same power source. I'm impressed. Let me know what he charges ya to build you a board. --Landon Omicron 02-27-2004, 09:01 PM Welp, it takes like 5 hours to build, so he's asking (I think) like $120. Landon_Starr 02-29-2004, 05:32 AM Ouch. Scratch that one off the list for me. Just hooked up to the brakes sounds WAY cool to me now. :) j/k. --Landon Omicron 03-02-2004, 02:53 PM Yeah, I hear ya. One thing to keep in mind thoough: the rear fog is waaaaaaay brighter than the rear brake lights. So, if you're going to hook it up to the brake lights, you'll need to wire in a resistor to reduce the power output. huhsler 03-12-2004, 12:19 PM Omicron, have you thought about upgrading to ceramic brake pads? That's a fairly simply $90 upgrade that would keep the dust off of your soon-to-be-painted calipers, etc. Just a thought. That's a fairly simply $90 upgrade that would keep the dust off of your soon-to-be-painted calipers, etc. Just a thought. Yup, and a good one. And oddly enough, I have thought about this... :) ... and decided that when my stock brake pads wear out, I'll likely go with a set of these "Project U" pads that VividRacing sells. Info here (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19651). Outlaws eXtreme 03-17-2004, 02:08 AM Omi, can you take a pic of your rear side panel.. I want to see if that Rear flare works with the MS Sideskirts.. because that's what I wanted to do.. the rear MS diffuser takes away one of the best part of the car in my opinion. You betcha... actually already did. ;) Check starting at this post (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=278160#post278160) for a full set of pictures. And I agree with you about the MS rear - I just plain don't like it. Butthead 07-11-2004, 10:55 PM Dude, you are are like way into your car, aintcha? Jeez. How much have you spent on all this stuff? Omicron 07-12-2004, 02:14 AM Dude, you are are like way into your car, aintcha? Jeez. How much have you spent on all this stuff? :confused:Funny, no one has ever asked me that. I guess I would have spent around $4500 on everything, 'cept I get some pretty special deals due to my "connections." :D manok_adobo 07-13-2004, 02:48 AM Omicron, Just noticed that you have the MS side skirts on your car. Is the ground clearance pretty much the same with the "appearance front"? I am planning on keeping the front and replacing the side and rear bumper. Thanks! Omicron 07-15-2004, 12:20 AM Omicron, Just noticed that you have the MS side skirts on your car. Is the ground clearance pretty much the same with the "appearance front"? I am planning on keeping the front and replacing the side and rear bumper. Thanks!Clearance on the side skirts, as I recall, is about 5 iches. The front appearance package lip is somewhere between 5.5 and 6 inches. But I also have Tein H-Tech springs on my car, which drop it about an inch. Regardless, clearance is almost never an issue - it's only the worst speed bumps that I touch, and even then only when I forget to be careful. Hope this helps! manok_adobo 07-16-2004, 02:54 AM Thank you much! Ya I have the Tein S springs and dropped it a bit. Im going to pursue to get the side skirts. Omicron 07-16-2004, 10:46 PM Good plan. I'm really glad I got 'em. :D |
