NotAPreppie 08-13-2009, 08:21 AM Usually, you'll get a scuff mark of black rubber. I've lost some fasteners for the undertray and had part of the section where it meets up with the fender liner get sucked into the tire. The paint damage is easily prevented with some painters tape (masking tape) on the lower front facia and side sills. The fasteners are cheap and you can just stock up. jpmswiss 08-13-2009, 09:30 AM I don't know about a cone....but check out the snowman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1KHS3kx4Fw NotAPreppie 08-13-2009, 10:22 AM I don't know about a cone....but check out the snowman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1KHS3kx4Fw Christ, that high-pitched cackling was obnoxious. tubingchamp 08-13-2009, 10:24 AM Oh my fucking god, are you serious? 70 MPH? LAWL! RIWWP 08-13-2009, 10:33 AM I'm surprised the airbag didn't trigger. But yeah, painter's tape does the trick: http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/ww257/Yenadar/DSC00002.jpg NotAPreppie 08-13-2009, 10:49 AM Oh my fucking god, are you serious? 70 MPH? On residential roads? FAIL! There, fixed it for you. kersh4w 08-13-2009, 11:37 AM yeah, big fat fail. dmitrik4 08-13-2009, 12:20 PM it can scuff the paint. nothing some compound won't take out. FWIW, there should be no need to tape the front bumper. if you're hitting cones, it should be around the rear wheels. hitting w/ the front corner means you're doin' it wrong. ;) ULLLOSE 08-13-2009, 12:26 PM As if the N on the door did not signify you were a enough of a newb... Blue tape, you fail.:mdrmed: http://www.soloperformance.com/Road-Wrap-Paint-Protection-Film_p_1519.html I'm surprised the airbag didn't trigger. I never would have beleived it, but I managed to dent the bottom middle of the drivers door right on the crease (I was doing it wrong). Slid sideways about 30mph or so and hit 2cones, somehow the base of one of the cones managed to dent the car. :dunno: RIWWP 08-13-2009, 02:45 PM As if the N on the door did not signify you were a enough of a newb... Blue tape, you fail.:mdrmed: I have no shame or embarassment about that :mdrmed: I fully admit I don't know what I am doing, although I must be doing something right, I am keeping within 5 seconds of modded 8s, and haven't hit a count (that counted) yet. Got some scuff on my RF rim somehow at one point. Although I have kept an eye out for white painter's tape....I guess white painter's tape is kinda contrary to most painters, given the most common color used :) Thanks for the link though, getting some for all my long distance trips. While I love cleaning my 8, I'd prefer to peal off all 50,000 bugs in 1 swipe :) Ross_Dawg 08-13-2009, 03:48 PM haha yeah my friend put a dent in his rear side too We just popped it out when we got home dmitrik4 08-13-2009, 09:07 PM haven't hit a count (that counted) yet. you need to drive harder, my friend. |
