Spinning Sushi 08-05-2009, 06:41 PM The MAF sensor is also called a MAP sensor, it's called a MAP sensor on older cars. :) ZmFnZm 08-05-2009, 07:30 PM you have a sensor for your maps??? how would that help your gas mileage???:wiggle::lol: dozer 08-05-2009, 07:48 PM shortcuts my friend :yesnod: rotarygreg 08-05-2009, 08:03 PM The MAF sensor is also called a MAP sensor, it's called a MAP sensor on older cars. :) the smiley makes me think you are kidding and likely know this, but i should point it out anyways. MAF sensors differ from MAP sensors quite a bit. MAF (aka Mass Air Flow sensor, sometimes called a MAS). MAP would stand for Manifold Absolute Pressure. I wont get into how they differ, but what the OP is likely talking about is the MAF sensor that is screwed into the intake just after the air filter box. that is all. hackdss 08-06-2009, 05:41 AM my bad I meant MAF rotarygreg 08-06-2009, 06:17 AM my bad I meant MAF cool. now that that is sorted out, i have a question for you. Do you mean the wires down inside the MAF were black? I've had many an rx8 come through the dealership with various running issues (of course it is almost always plugs/coils) but i usually do a check of the MAF among other things first and I've never actually seen one that actually looks dirty like you said yours was. What intake do you have on your car? Scoot RX-8 08-06-2009, 08:38 AM you have a sensor for your maps??? how would that help your gas mileage???:wiggle::lol: Yes ... this map sensor is old technology and it does help save on gas!! I believe the correct term for this sensor now is a GPS! Haha! And it keeps you from getting lost, thus saving gas! :eyetwitch hackdss 08-06-2009, 10:58 AM I got an aem intake and yes it was the two wires in the maf which was black. Just changed spark plugs recently car has been running fine I just decided to take a look at the maf sensor and found it to be dirty. Mazurfer 08-07-2009, 03:06 PM Take a good quality pic of that black MAF and post it here. Then clean it very, very carefully! Brettus 08-07-2009, 03:11 PM you have a sensor for your maps??? how would that help your gas mileage???:wiggle::lol: cuz he doesn't get lost anymore of course - geeeeezzzz !!! |
