I know the abs might get wacky, but need to know if I can use this setup. thanks There are guys running 295s on stock wheels without a problem. Why do you think your ABS would get wacky? jefecito87 08-05-2009, 04:01 PM 295 wow that big i thought my 265-40 were big enough but mine jsut almost rub i can just stick my finger between the wheel and fender there is about half inch clearance tmak26b 08-05-2009, 04:24 PM 265 35 is a much shorter tire, so I shouuld clear fender. it won't rub on sway bar right? chiketkd 08-05-2009, 04:32 PM Just to be clear...are we talking street tires or r-comps here? 9krpmrx8 08-05-2009, 04:35 PM Pics? I didn't know you could go wider than a 245 on stock wheels. lepichichi 08-05-2009, 04:46 PM There are guys running 295s on stock wheels without a problem. I don't want to pay $50 to put on the tires and find out they rub. Thanks (I know the autoxer love spacers) lepichichi 08-05-2009, 06:24 PM Damn thanks man! Thanks (I know the autoxer love spacers) Yes. I have run a 265-35-18 BFG R1 on 18X8s with no spacer, and no problems. tmak26b 08-05-2009, 08:20 PM Thanks! tmak26b 08-05-2009, 11:36 PM I am sorry, one last question. Did you try to take the 265/35/18 setup to the track? Any issue with the ABS flipping out due to the tires being smaller? Thanks shazy 08-05-2009, 11:41 PM Unless you are putting down 300whp... you don't need it and will be worse in terms of performance. Go with 245's :O You'll be much happier. Anyway, max for the rx8 rim is 255, you can't go past that unless you get a welding shop to extend the rim. ULLLOSE 08-05-2009, 11:43 PM I am sorry, one last question. Did you try to take the 265/35/18 setup to the track? Any issue with the ABS flipping out due to the tires being smaller? Thanks :uhh: Tire size does not matter.... The car/ABS just thinks you are going faster than you really are. 9krpmrx8 08-05-2009, 11:44 PM So does anyone have pics of 265+ on stock wheels? 08boostedmzda 08-05-2009, 11:46 PM Unless you are putting down 300whp... you don't need it and will be worse in terms of performance. Not true, like ULLLOSE said there are people running 295 race tires on the stock size wheels. You can pinch a bigger tire onto a narrow wheel you just wont have as much of the tire on the ground as you would on a wider wheel. Can you put a 265 on the stock wheel? yes Would I do it on my car? no You would be better off running 245's on the stock wheel (assuming you are talking about street tires.) 9krpmrx8 08-05-2009, 11:48 PM 254's? akela 08-05-2009, 11:53 PM I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume he meant 245's :) 08boostedmzda 08-05-2009, 11:54 PM 254's? fixed lol thanks 9krpmrx8 08-05-2009, 11:55 PM I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume he meant 245's :) I know, I was just being a smart ass. akela 08-05-2009, 11:58 PM 254's? I know, I was just being a smart ass. Haha, I probably would've picked up on that if I wasn't so tired. Maybe I should get some sleep... tmak26b 08-06-2009, 12:07 AM I have 4 265/35/18 left over from my Corvette, I will use them on my race wheels. 245/40/18 on my street rims/tires. I kind of need something to drive as I popped one of my OEM tire and I am not allow to buy new tires until I sell all the Corvette stuff and snow tires! Yes you can fit 265 on an 8" wheels. I am only doing that as a test since I already have those tires available. I am only doing that as a test since I already have those tires available. So the 265's are for the track? You would be better off selling those tires on a vette forum or craigslist and getting a set of r-comp 245/40/18 tires, like the ones I have for sale, http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=179497 Not only will they be a better fit for the wheel but they will be lighter and a 245 r-comp should have more grip then a 265 street tire. tmak26b 08-06-2009, 12:59 AM They are R comps, they were used on a 8.5" wheel with no problem kjchristopher 08-06-2009, 01:36 AM So does anyone have pics of 265+ on stock wheels? Sorry, no pics - maybe tomorrow in the daylight. They fit without rubbing just fine. rx 8speciale 08-06-2009, 01:47 AM what about 255 0r 265 on 18x7.5 will they fit? tmak26b 08-06-2009, 01:38 PM waste of time, the shop cant seat the R888 265/35/18 on the stock OEM 8" wheels.... TeamRX8 08-10-2009, 09:08 AM get a new shop what area do you live in? Easy_E1 08-10-2009, 09:25 AM 265/35-18's fit fine on 8" rims. They say (Falken) that 8.5" rim is the minimum width for that tire. But I don't see an issue with 1/4" less per side on the rim. I run 265/35-18's on 8" rims. They're fine. tmak26b 08-10-2009, 05:41 PM I wonder if the tires will rub at full lock. TeamRX8 08-10-2009, 09:17 PM I ran 265s on 10.5" wheels lowered and no rubbing, also 295's on 8" wheels, what part about they fit don't you understand? unless you're planning to run some whacked out wheel offset you won't have a problem |
