View Full Version : the new ride. 2010 mustang =]
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:07 PM Well after selling my car I had to decide on the most difficult question. Muscle or Tuner. After test driving a lot of cars I went out and bought a 2010 mustang v6. stick shift ;] I know I know no handling at allllll. Still a fun car =] So wanted to post up a couple pictures and hear some opinions about it. Let me know what you guys think =]

dozer 07-15-2009, 07:09 PM well how do you like it?
PS, you shouldve invested in a camera
Yep no handling or balls...shoulda got V8. hehe
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:09 PM P.S. I'm only 17 that's why i got the v6. Don't feel like adding another ticket to my record or killing myself =]
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:10 PM lol true. pics are taken with phone camera =]
dozer 07-15-2009, 07:12 PM so why did you sell the 8 and get a mustang?
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:13 PM My 8 was giving problems. Had to spend money week by week. it was a 2004 auto.. plus i got 8 tickets in 1 year with it lmaooo loved the car to much. still miss it. Mustang seemed like a good choice. Descent price. enough power.
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:14 PM I don't blame the car though. Should have took better care of it.
dozer 07-15-2009, 07:15 PM 8 tickets what the hell were you doing?
No More Oldsmobiles 07-15-2009, 07:16 PM P.S. I'm only 17 that's why i got the v6. Don't feel like adding another ticket to my record or killing myself =]
I won't knock the smarts of Mustang drivers again. That was a very wise move. And yeah, I probably would have killed myself with a V8 at that age.
Cell phone or not, at least shoot in the daylight!
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:16 PM lmfaoo ALOT. Pulled over for stupid stuff. cops here are the worst. got a ticket for having a red LED license plate bulb -__-
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:17 PM so i figure they wont pull over an American car as much as a tuner either.
dozer 07-15-2009, 07:18 PM well the new ones definitely look better than the older ones, good luck! good thing you went with the MT, a lot more fun
No More Oldsmobiles 07-15-2009, 07:20 PM lmfaoo ALOT. Pulled over for stupid stuff. cops here are the worst. got a ticket for having a red LED license plate bulb -__-
A serious ticket or just a "fix it ticket"? Either way, that's going a bit far.
Transam kid 01 07-15-2009, 07:22 PM Missing a couple cylinders....
Why not the Camaro V6? IIRC, it has more hp, better MPG, and similar price
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:22 PM 6 serious tickets. only 2 fix it tickets. tint and the LED light. and thanks dozer. Still not perfect with MT lol cousin sits in the car and says "ah don't you love the smell of that burning clutch"..
turbovtec 07-15-2009, 07:23 PM camaro v6 was marked up 7000 $ lol but yea i was gonna get it if it wasnt. MSRP is 25 but add 7 and it comes out to be 32. taxes ect..options.. 34? 10 more than mustang.
nuke0907 07-15-2009, 07:49 PM i just seen one of the new ones tonight. they have some sweet rear turn signals.
NoOdLe BoY 07-15-2009, 07:53 PM well you are blaming the 8. lol
and you shoulda of just gotten the V8.
and getting another ticket or killing yourself isnt determined by what engine or car you have. its up to you as a driver, knowing the limit of your skills, and not being reckless.
besides that, enjoy and be safe out there.
Aznxkaiser 07-15-2009, 08:47 PM Whats the point of a V6 mustang? No straight line acceleration, poor handling, piss poor interior. At least it's the newer one..looks better than the previous gens.
SPHINX144 07-15-2009, 08:48 PM it's not a proper muscle car without a big v8 engine under the hood. Mustangs are ok but they are rather mundane.
rodjonathan 07-15-2009, 08:55 PM yea man the v6 idk but oh well to each his own i own a camaro ss so ill always be biased ;) lol plus i ordered mine so i got a v8 with options for around 38k not bad for that sweet v8
ARE-EX-8 07-15-2009, 09:00 PM you had an 8 and now a 2010 mustang..... and youre 17 . Boy do i wish i was you
05rex8 07-15-2009, 09:02 PM who cares if it's a V6
he obviously likes the car so let him be
not that it would be my choice...but still....lol.
congrats on the new car
kvndoom 07-15-2009, 09:33 PM you had an 8 and now a 2010 mustang..... and youre 17 . Boy do i wish i was you
Yeah, no kidding. I was 26 when I got my first wheels.
af7mn 07-15-2009, 09:39 PM Yeah, no kidding. I was 26 when I got my first wheels.
 that sucks!
I was 17 when I got my first wheels. But it wasn't an 8 or a Mustang. I had me a Dodge Shadow with Holstein seat covers :yesnod:
I don't care if I was 17 or not....I'd never get a Pony. If I ever get a Mustang again, it'll be another V8.
But, on the bright side...at least he's got that fresh new car smell! mmmmmm!
getdamafiaonyou 07-15-2009, 09:40 PM having test driven a few recently i have to say. they are my favorite mustang since the origional. The inside is much nicer than the 05's. but still. should have gone with the v8. and the handling isn't as bad as the 09s eaither. i actually like that mustang.
kvndoom 07-15-2009, 09:46 PM The theme of this thread:

getdamafiaonyou 07-15-2009, 09:47 PM they shouldnt even make these cars without a v8. the v8 should be standard, and they should throw in a v12 in the gt. then, it would be a muscle car, but the v8's now days, just dont hold up to their name.

This made me giggle.

You should have shopped around more. I'm sure given enough stealerships and the right haggling with them that you would have gotten it for around MSRP. Then again...they are selling more Camaros than they can produce....

plus with the fact that he is only 17 and just got a new mustang, means that the stealerships would have been in full steal mode.
Transam kid 01 07-15-2009, 09:57 PM they shouldnt even make these cars without a v8. the v8 should be standard, and they should throw in a v12 in the gt. then, it would be a muscle car, but the v8's now days, just dont hold up to their name.
......lolwhut
How do V8s not hold up to their name?
Let's look at the 'vettes LS7, the LS9, the LS3, don't forget Ferrari V8s. We can even talk about the older LS1 and LS2s. The Mustang V8s aren't anything to scoff at either and the (w/e they named it) new V8 ford is producing will have similar numbers to the LS3. Don't forget the MOPAR. 6.2L HEMI with 425 hp. How are these not holding up to their name??
O and LSx's are surprisingly fuel efficient for the power they produce :yesnod:
Transam kid 01 07-15-2009, 09:58 PM plus with the fact that he is only 17 and just got a new mustang, means that the stealerships would have been in full steal mode.
Bring a parent and don't say a word, lol. Let the parent do all of the talking and keep the kid out of it. If the kid even smiles at one of the cars features, the salesman will know he has them on his line (I used to work at Ford).
Transam kid 01 07-15-2009, 10:00 PM O and the people bashing the Mustangs handling should take a look at the track package. They did a nice job on the new mustang with power/handling , especially for the price (but I still dislike the cheap feeling interior...reminds me of my trans am interior :puke: ).
getdamafiaonyou 07-15-2009, 10:06 PM ......lolwhut

im sorry i should have been more specific. the Ford Mustang v8, is just and embarrassment. maybe the new one will hold up something, but i honestly believe that the v8 in the mustang Gt is a embarrassment to the v8 name. yeah chevy makes some kick ass v8's, we all love the ls1 & ls2
i can out run a GT at the strip.
TopGear8 07-15-2009, 10:14 PM It definitally looks better on the outside, but they really need to fix the interior. I've driven a few of them and the interior quality is just crap.
05rex8 07-15-2009, 10:27 PM im sorry i should have been more specific. the Ford Mustang v8, is just and embarrassment. maybe the new one will hold up something, but i honestly believe that the v8 in the mustang Gt is a embarrassment to the v8 name. yeah chevy makes some kick ass v8's, we all love the ls1 & ls2

maybe stock, but they respond very well to bolt on parts
the ford's modular v8's are no joke with a little bit of work
SayNoToPistons 07-15-2009, 10:33 PM All those tickets at 17? Your parents should have brought you a moped instead.
05rex8 07-15-2009, 10:35 PM ^I'm surprised he still has a license
SayNoToPistons 07-15-2009, 10:40 PM +1. He had an autotragic RX8 too. Imagine he had a manual or a V8 Stand.
9krpmrx8 07-15-2009, 10:42 PM I love the way everyone mentions the V-8 power and handling when on our cruises a ton of 8 owners bitch about driving hard because they wanna cruise. I don't like Mustangs much either but I would say most 8 owners don't ever drive them anywhere near the limit so the comments seem stupid. This mustang has more power then the 8 he owned and likely would spank it on any track.
Just my thoughts, don't just hate because its not a RX-8.
getdamafiaonyou 07-15-2009, 10:45 PM It definitally looks better on the outside, but they really need to fix the interior. I've driven a few of them and the interior quality is just crap.
the 2010 mustang has a much nicer interior.
and how is the v6 mustang much faster than the 8? trust me.. i know from experience. it's not.
9krpmrx8 07-15-2009, 10:55 PM and how is the v6 mustang much faster than the 8? trust me.. i know from experience. it's not.
You really don't think his manual tranny Mustang is faster than his automatic 8?
volcomx31 07-15-2009, 11:05 PM i like the saleen better haha..and the v6 is faster than the auto 8..i have a mustang and rx8 and they both are AT and the mustang is faster..
getdamafiaonyou 07-16-2009, 12:33 AM OH i missed the part where the 8 was a auto. yeah the manual v6 would be faster.
05rx8mazda 07-16-2009, 01:01 AM I spanked a Mustang Gt 2004 AT.. I ran a MT and i was at his tail lights T_T good job for my little 1.3
RoTaRyRx-8 07-16-2009, 01:08 AM ^^ so did i, i expected more out of a V8
TopGear8 07-16-2009, 01:41 AM the 2010 mustang has a much nicer interior
Maybe nicer than the older models, but like I said. I've driven a few of the 2010 Stang's, and the interior is still not all that great...
Vlaze 07-16-2009, 05:45 AM First thought: Congrats
Second thought: http://pix.motivatedphotos.com/2008/10/7/633590082727698319-v6.jpg
I liken it to getting an Auto Rx8; WHY? Oh GOD WHY? THE HORROR GAHHHHH THE HORROR!
Only mustang I would ever get would be the 60's style Shelby
KraZy K 02 07-16-2009, 05:52 AM Congrats on the mustang. Hope it fits you better than the 8 did.
gloko 07-16-2009, 09:33 AM you had an 8 and now a 2010 mustang..... and youre 17 . Boy do i wish i was you
Agreed......
how much down and whats ya payments..if you dont mind me asking.
I could never even imgine paying 25k for a V6 mustang:scared: wouldnt pay 25k for an rx8 either though lol..... to each there own I guess:p:
MICHGoBlue 07-16-2009, 10:07 AM 2010 mustang seems nice.
All the reviews I've read praised the handling aspect, although mostly due to the stock pirelli summer tires, but sounds like they did tweak the camber settings as well.
Mustangs are faster than RX-8.
V8 much faster than manual rx-8, V6 much faster than auto rx-8.
Just facts, no need for ricer street racing stories.
CarAndDriver 07-16-2009, 11:43 AM 2010 Mustang seems well-reviewed. The V6 in the Mustang is inferior to the Camaro V6 though. Also, the V6 Mustang seems to be a rental car staple.
If you were driving a slow AT 8, then a manual V6 probably seems and improvement in speed, but the handling might not.
Safe driving.
Bigbacon 07-16-2009, 11:52 AM Bring a parent and don't say a word, lol. Let the parent do all of the talking and keep the kid out of it. If the kid even smiles at one of the cars features, the salesman will know he has them on his line (I used to work at Ford).
I remember going to buy my Chevy cobalt a few years ago. The sales guy was very confused because I didn't seem excited at all. Even when I was about to drive away in it he was like "smile or something, you got a new car". Now I was on my own, my parents weren't with me (at 24 I wouldn't go with my parents anyway)
Well I did afterwards...
I kinda did the same thing with the 8, went it and really showed no emotion at all and just followed those basic steps they always tell you and it worked out wonderfully.
I like the look of the new mustangs, if I had to own a Ford vehicle, this is probably the only one I would own. I wouldn't choose to buy one though just because thats me, but if the person buying the car likes the car then thats all that matters. It will still be fun and better than civic.
rodjonathan 07-16-2009, 12:25 PM yeah the new mustangs are really cool the interior isnt great but a major improvement over the last one plus the exterior is meaner looking and has more curves and it has some wicked rear turn signals!
tibyABv6 07-16-2009, 07:17 PM Whats the point of a V6 mustang? No straight line acceleration, poor handling, piss poor interior. At least it's the newer one..looks better than the previous gens.
I have not check specks on v6, but if suspension setup is same as on v8 then car handles very good ...
Accelaration is good, faster then rx8...grate potential with boltons and even more so with boost.
turbovtec 07-18-2009, 03:21 AM lol thanks for all the comments guys. To one of the questions. I put 0$ down and paying only 400 a month. This car is wayyy faster than my rx8 was. My fault for getting an auto 8 but way faster. 0-60 did in about 6 seconds. my 8 would take 9 or 10 lol handling wise you would not expect a mustang to be good but this things very different. Its really smooth on the turns except if the turns are sharp than the rx8 was better. I think i would keep up with a manual rx8 pretty well. And i would have loved the v8 but I'm not that spoiled. lol when i actually work and make my own money I would go for the v8.
turbovtec 07-18-2009, 03:22 AM P.S. suspension and everything like that is the same as the GT. just the engine is missing 2 cylinders ;] Got a K&N drop in filter today. Loving the car. But will never replace my first car. the rx8. still miss it =]
interior is preety good too on the 2010. Ice blue lighting. Put foot well LED lights. looks good.
I still give thumbs up to every rx8 i see =] Switching from tuner to muscle feels alot different lol No more high revs. I would go 1st gear to 2nd in my rx8 to 62 mph. 2nd gear to about 80. Now My redlines at 6. but satisfaction of power at all rpms. plus torque is alota fun ;]
SayNoToPistons 07-18-2009, 04:32 AM LOL a V6 Mustang is far from "muscle".
fobjr101 07-18-2009, 05:39 AM Wow so much haters. Gotta love this forum.
Krazed_Rx8 07-18-2009, 08:38 AM Wow so much haters. Gotta love this forum.
 I know right?
Krazed_Rx8 07-18-2009, 08:38 AM Anyways, congratz on your new ride!
NYC Drift King 07-18-2009, 08:48 AM Yo I love the new STANG congrats!!!
CarAndDriver 07-18-2009, 10:51 AM lol thanks for all the comments guys. To one of the questions. I put 0$ down and paying only 400 a month. This car is wayyy faster than my rx8 was. I don't know what you're smoking, but an auto V6 Mustang is NOT going to do 0-60 in 6 seconds.
exsequor 07-18-2009, 11:53 AM manual will though
8 Maniac 07-18-2009, 05:14 PM I don't know what you're smoking, but an auto V6 Mustang is NOT going to do 0-60 in 6 seconds.
He got a manual, he had an auto rx-8 though.
I definitely agree on the fact that the V6 mustang should not be called a muscle car. But, if you really did go with it to stay out of trouble while still having a bit of fun, then you made a good choice. The 8 was my first car (manual) and I now appreciate the fact that I didn't aim for loads of straight line acceleration. That said, I do find myself wanting more power now and I either plan to turbo the 8 or get something with more acceleration. Enjoy that mustang for a few years and try to stay out of trouble.
Now, for where I am now, I would have gone for the GT as well (if I was getting a mustang... though I'm not too fond of mustangs). The V6 would be fun and all, but as far as I know, it's a bit lacking in aftermarket options when compared to the V8. I'm not sure what kind of potential the V6's have, but I'm guessing it doesn't respond as well as some other 6 cylinder engines would to mods.
shazy 07-18-2009, 05:24 PM I like the front of the new one, the back is plain fugly imo. But congrats on the new car.... Ignore some of peoples comments, there always going to be critics around here :)
Transam kid 01 07-18-2009, 07:31 PM It's funny how we are so quick to criticize other cars, but so defensive/offensive when others criticize the 8..............
rodjonathan 07-18-2009, 07:50 PM thats coz the 8 is the sexiest car alive lol ;) more like coz we own one. and the v6 does have the same suspension setup as the v8 but its missing the lsd but the mustang in general has come miles from a few years ago and its a really good car.
mlfarrell 07-18-2009, 08:33 PM nothing against you, ts. but you've picked my least favorite car of all time. I'd take a civic over a mustang. and thats saying something.
now if you bought a cobra, thats a diff story
newguy 07-19-2009, 12:55 AM i just seen one of the new ones tonight. they have some sweet rear turn signals.
yeah very cool sequential turn signals like the old stangs and cougars. I imagine insurance would have killed him w/ a V8 if his right foot didnt, nice car hope you enjoy it!
If one can afford the V8 ins, etc. I woulda got a used 05+ GT
Insurance is a picky bitch, I have an 01 Dodge Stratus RT (V6, 2 door coupe, 5spd) and its $200 more a year to insure full coverage than my 8 b/c its a 2door vs. the 8 considered a 4 door (what other sports car saves you ins$ like the 8?:worship:) I might understand it if it was a fast car but its just average.
turbovtec 07-19-2009, 01:00 AM lol thanks to all the good coments. and to the haters. love you guys =] and yes its true. the manual mustang is alot different than the automatic. automatic = rental. stick shift = sports car. that's just in my opinion. To me it was an upgrade going from the auto 8 to this. in all ways. And cmon some of you haters got to relax. Not alot of 17 year olds own thier second car. rx8. then mustang. Got to be grateful of what you got and be happy with it =]
Biggest plus side. ALL girls i talk to are lovinggg it. They dont know difference between gt and v6. all they see is a "muscle" car lol
kvndoom 07-19-2009, 01:14 AM lol thanks to all the good coments. and to the haters. love you guys =] and yes its true. the manual mustang is alot different than the automatic. automatic = rental. stick shift = sports car. that's just in my opinion. Yeah no kidding, buy an OEM "GT" decal for the rear and 99% of the people will never know the difference if you don't tell them. :lol2:
Here I am debating to go the opposite way and de-badge my car so people won't know it's the faster version!
turbovtec 07-19-2009, 01:33 AM lol i would but there's way to tell the difference. rims. rear has only 1 exhaust. and front bumper is a littler different. and if that mazdaspeed 3 is yours its sexy. Id know its a speed3 because of the rims and intercooler. and spoiler ;]
newguy 07-19-2009, 02:00 AM Not trying to nitpick but the 210hp V6 stang at 3500lbs wont do 0-60 in 6 sec flat.
The 05 V6 ran 6.9 to 60:
http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/ford/mustang/r120891/comments/
And the 2010 V6 carries over the same engine with negligible weight gain (210hp 240lb/ft) and it runs 6.9 to 60, 15.3 1/4 mi.
Scroll down half way: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-ford-mustang-parts.html
Still a very nice car to have especially at 17 good luck with it!
Transam kid 01 07-19-2009, 01:08 PM 15.3 1/4 mile is about what some stock 8s do in the 1/4
rodjonathan 07-19-2009, 01:26 PM yea the v6 isnt a whole lot faster if any when compared to the 8 (but you had the auto) and the mustang is a nice car and your lucky enough to own your second car plus to each his own so as long as your happy ...
snicklefritz 07-19-2009, 01:32 PM Well, congrats on the new mustang! When I first started driving I bought a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0, and I must tell you... that was a lot of car at the time for someone just starting to drive (imagine now with the Mustang V8 putting out more HP stock). At the age of 17, I'm sure you'll enjoy the the V6 and should be more than enough for your daily driving.
Grant696 07-19-2009, 02:28 PM You my friend are livin the life at such a young age. But personally I would have gone with a Camaro.
Rhawb 07-19-2009, 02:56 PM lol i would but there's way to tell the difference. rims. rear has only 1 exhaust. and front bumper is a littler different. and if that mazdaspeed 3 is yours its sexy. Id know its a speed3 because of the rims and intercooler. and spoiler ;]
You can't see the intercooler on the Speed, since it's a TMIC. :) Though, the black grating on the front bumper is a bit bigger on the Speed than the standard 3 hatch so you can still look at the bumper to identify them.
Enjoy the Mustang, I've been liking the look of the new ones - they're surprisingly easy to differentiate from the older models. I thought they were going to look a whole lot more similar to the old models but they have a much more aggressive edge to them, it's pretty nice. Also, sequential turn signals are awesome.
rodjonathan 07-19-2009, 03:00 PM yeah i actually you tubed the lights and i think theyre really cool
turbovtec 07-20-2009, 01:53 AM lol thanks guys. Yea i admit im lucky to be owning my second car. and true about the specs. I just counted in my head. and used a phones stopwatch at night. So i guess 6.9 sounds right. But i also have a K&N drop in filter. plus some other little mods. And its stick shift. it said the automatic ran it in 6.9. 6.5 is possible with a stock MT. Its not that far off from a stock rx8.
turbovtec 07-20-2009, 01:54 AM I have a real important question though. The manual says 87 octane for gas. Ive been using 91. Pros? Cons? Performance better? and. Should i switch to fully synthetic oil? Pros and Cons of that too? Would appreciate the help alot. thanks =]
shazy 07-20-2009, 04:28 AM Doesn't really matter. Unless the manual RECOMMENDS 91 octane but it could still use 87 octane. 91 octane is just more resistant to detonation, but your car isn't tuned to a higher spec so it doesn't matter :) On new cars just switch to synthetic, they help in every single way possible.
