Question How much boost

So I believe that the guy who is tuning my car knows what he is doing, but I'm all about questions. He is the same guy that put the RX7 in the RX8 known as the falcom drift car. My question I guess would be how much boost can you safely put out on the new RX8. I feel like this may be a dumb question but he's working on 19lbs and tunning it like crazy. Ive hear 5, 8, and 9 but 19???

Search static vs dynamic compression...

19 LBS with meth, prolly race gas and a fantastic tune... sure why not - as long as you are prepared to pay to play.

That might get you closer, but I am thinking that the OP is not on the up and up.

19lbs means a custom turbo build. I would think someone that would go so far as to do that much fabricaton would know a tad more than what the OP is suggesting that he does.

I would ask, what are you using to make that much boost? Has he actually gotten there yet?

What did you do to your fuel system? I dont think meth+race gas on a stock fuel pump will support 19#s and the flow that that suggests.

Hence, my semi-sarcastic responce.

19 lbs on a used Greddy TD06 with only 20k miles on it, with a reman engine and 87 octane... sounds like fun! In all seriousness, if he is seriously tuning 19 lbs of boost then he just pulled a pin on a grenade formerly known as your motor.

Stop using PSI! You are just encouraging these kinds of vapid, repetitive questions.
When the newbs ask this question (again and again and again), answer in mass airflow.

Say 300 g/sec maximum on the OE fuel system.
At least its a real answer.

Relax. Yer going to blow an artery.

We got this n00b covered.

Go develop the next go fast bit for our RX8s. Or post a non-pixelated avatar.

Pressure does matter - though not for fueling purposes.

That is why I said look up dynamic vs static compression.... at some point the heating of the intake charge is going cause some serious timing problems - even if your tune is perfect and the fuel delivery can be addressed.

At an intake PR of 1 - and a CR of a 10-1 motor - the actual pressure ratio is close to 22-1! Now add in 19 psi on the intake side and guess what the new PR on the motor will be? And the latent heat from compression is gonna be through the roof.

This was all the posts from the OP. Are we to be expected that he got all that together and found a mech that put all that on his car and is already tuning to redonkulous boost levels in a month?

I think this is an excellently executed joke. I hope you are sitting back enjoying all the chaos that you have wrought.

Interestingly, I think that some folks actually got something out of this thread. So the joke is on you.

I got something out of the funny explosion picture. I also alternate between finding humor in some of the idiots who post here and getting very annoyed.

I have seen 19 with no boom!...

I think he is perhaps too excited about his imaginary turbo kit to notice that people are not retarded on this forum and don't have a problem calling out BS...does he even own an 8? Sounds like a teenager with an imaginary RX-8

The best way to determine boost:

Step 1. Install turbo
Step 2. Crank up the boost up so far that Jesus, himself, ***** his pants
Step 3. Determine if the engine indeed blows when you hear that loud metal to metal boom and rattling
Step 4. Rebuild engine
Step 5. Begin back at Step 1 and turn the boost down by 1 psi
