If I remember correctly, TheWulf installed his OMP earlier this year... Just wondering how it is working, and if anyone else has installed this yet?

I am interested in doing this but would like to hear from someone who has this just to know if it is working alright still

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

I've had my OMP adapter installed for the past 25,000 miles on my RX8. I've seen lots of daily driving, a cross country road trip and various autocross/track days. I honestly believe it's one of the best modifications (and cheap) that you can do for your RX8.

There's two main benefits to using it.

First, you're injecting CLEAN 2 cycle oil (2 cycle is what I suggest) instead of dirty engine oil into your motor. 2 Cycle oil is meant to be burned where typical motor oil isn't.

Second, it now opens up the ability for you to run any oil you want in the crankcase. Oil selection is critical previously because you need something that burns easily and protects well. A hard combination to find.

I run a 1 quart tank and I think the lowest it's gotten is 1/4 full and that was from lots of neglect. I'm normally under the hood at least once a week so I'm always topping it off.

I highly suggest getting it. The adapter works great paired with the accessport in which the OMP amounts can be increased to ensure you've got enough oil protection.

You can find more information on the Ottawa Mazda Club boards here:

Where TheWulf has a thread about the adapter.

Mine has been installed for about 3,000KM and still going strong. No leaks, no problems.

Just warning you, it's a PITA to install. Well worth it though, I'm glad I got in on it early.

Great! Thanks for the quick response guys! So I guess I can still order from rotaryaviation.com?

I like how you used the sensor for the oil level, good idea. when I do this I'll definitely do the same. Hopefully it prolongs the life of my engine which is already +124, 000Km

How's your engine over all? If it's starting to die out (compression test?) I'd almost say try to blow it up and get another one under warranty before doing the adapter install ;)

I doubt you'd convince them to give you a warranty replacement with the Sohn adapter.

My warranty was up this month aparently. :(

Engine feels fine though, haven't done a compression test or anything but starts quick, runs fine, idols fine... (Knock on wood) Now I just want to make sure it stays that way.

Isn't it 8 years? ^^

Get the adapter man. I installed mine with TheWulf, and i've got no problems with it. You just have to get a decent amount of premix, but its around $160 for a case of 12..

How can your engine warranty be up already? It's 8 years or 160,000km on the engine core

That's what I thought, but when I called Mazda Canada, they said June 2009...

Looks like I owe them a call back...

I wouldnt do this untill warranty is void anyway.

So would you be keeping your car stock for the next 3 years?

Any mods you add will void the warranty..

basically if I had another 3 years yes I would be keeping it stock (engine components anyway) its easier on the bank account for now. then when its paid off I can really start having fun with it :D

Just de-mod if you have to bring it in. Don't deny yourself the pleasures of modding :)

You don't want to de-mod and re-mod the OMP adapter. Trust me on this. You will swear enough to get it on the first time.
