Hey there, I was wondering why I'm not getting that beeping at 8500 RPM. It's the first time I redlined it, well, even to 9500RPM and I didn't hear anything. Why is that? Or is that only in the upper gears? (was in the 2nd)

thx

The beep is very subtle and very quiet ....

Try again and once you've heard it a few times you'll recognise it.

P.S. Forget about having the radio on ... you'll never hear it

I think the sound you hear when you reach 11,000 RPM is more noticeable...KABOOM :p

I only knew about this from video clips I've heard and there it was quite noticeable (really loud!). It's pretty useless if it's so quiet, isn't it :)

I actually quite like it .. sort of subliminal (is that how you spell it?).

Anyway, just enough to make you change up a gear before you blow the engine!! :)

you're not going to blow the engine. When you get to 9750 RPM you are going to get whiplash when the rev limiter kicks in, though.

Of course, with the HP peak at 8500, you really don't want to take it much over 9K any how.

The fact that the damn buzzer is quiet is a nice thing. It's much louder in my 2G RX7 and it bugs the hell out of me. In the 8, it's a slight reminder that you can easily ignore while winding through a marginal 3rd gear turn which you mistakenly down-shifted for.

The rev limiter will not help if you downshift from 6th into 1st gear on the freeway.

Let's just hope that nobody does that one!

I liked the one in my 2nd gen, and my repu. (Rotary P.U. for you new rotary guys. :) ) The 8 is a little to quite for me. I don't think it'll be audiable once a full exhaust/intake are installed on my car. CJ

repu's rock!

You can get the cluster out easily, but be careful, the gauges are oil filled and could leak. I was thinking of soldering a different kind of beep behind the cluster.
