View Full Version : how to mess up tint.

Ok, so basically the tint job on my car sucks dick. There is a small hole in the driver side door, and on the passenger side, the tint doesn't line up. is there any way to make the tint bubble up or sabotage it? The lifetime warranty says either 35 or 55% depending on how you read it but I think its supposed to say 55. So I figure, i can make it look more like a 35 to get a free, darker, better tint job. I just need to know how to screw it up. I know this sounds dick, but the company did a shitty job in the first place...

IF the company did a bad job, why didn't you complain when taking delivery? Nonetheless, take it back to the shop that did the tints and show them the problems. If they are a reputable shop, they will take care of the issues.

I bought the car last week tinted. I dont know if the company would take kindly to a 16 year old 5'7 kid telling them they did a bad job. Im no scared kid but i just dont think they would re-do it, you know? It needs to be bubbled up. Im thinking of peeling a little bit back and pouring some water down it on a hot day or take a hairdryer, and make the water bubble shit up.

Since you bought the car with the windows already tinted, the lifetime warranty might be only for the person that purchased the window tinting, and not transfered to you, the new owner. You have to look into the fine prints of the warranty.

Its kind of a dissapointment to see you putting all 16 year old eight owners to shame. If they screwed up, confront them, but everyone else already told you that so if you dont want to listen then i guess have fun screwing up your tint job so that they *might* replace it for you.

Seriously though, just go to the tint shop with the certificate and tell them what's up. Pretty much a yes or no situation whether or not they'll fix it. Dont fuck up the tint on your own if you dont know if the warranty is transferable.

Hands down, the original poster is dumb:icon_no2:

Kid, you're 16. If you can't find the testicular fortitude to bring your complaint to the tint company then having shitting tint is the least of your worries.

It's YOUR car [Read; daddy's car] so you have to learn to man up to situations and stand your ground.

The fact that you would consider molesting your car for leverage in a petty dispute says a lot about your character.

Best of luck.:banghead:

First off coming on here and posting a thread and then being a complete ass to the others who have been on this site for months / years is "NOT" a good way to get a question answered at all.

So basically you come on here and from what i'm reading you bought a used car and don't like the tint. Now your asking us to supply you with ways to sabotage it. Because you don't want to pay the 160 dollars it will take to replace the tint. Second off you should have known when you bought the car that the tint sucked. Whether they did a crappy job on the tint or not is at this point not the issue. Because if they did a crappy job and the warranty was able to be passed onto you, you would not be here complaining about it.

So not only now are you asking us to help you sabotage your car to get a free tint out of it. Your saying that you want to pose as the guy who actually bought the tint. Thus committing fraud. You want to tack on anything else? Maybe you want us to hold them hostage while they do the tint for you also? Go get a life and pay the freaking 160 dollars it will take to replace it. You knew full well when you bought the car that either you didn't "like" the tint or that the tint was not done correctly. Your also saying that the tint was done the day before you bought this "used car" and there is no way that the previous owner could have done anything to mess it up. Your arrogance amazes me.

As to the previous posters, I'm quite sure he knows that the warranty is not transferable, and there is most likely a clause in there stating that if you mess it up, it's still going to cost you to fix it. Seeing as it's not their fault you screwed it up. If he didn't he wouldn't already be to the stage of "I need to mess this up to get a free tint". I will laugh when you do all this and they still don't give you a tint out of it, and your rolling around with shitty windows all over town. Make that be your reminder.

Don't be an idiot - intentionally fucking something up is always obvious. What does your height have to do with anything? Nobody cares how tall you are. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Just stop being a pussy and go in there and ask them to follow through with the warranty OR you could try getting a job and buy new tint. Don't buy a $20,000 car if you can't afford $150 for new tint.

Ok, thanks. I was only a dick in defense of being attacked . Yes, I knew the tint sucked when I bought the car but the guy said it had a lifetime warranty, which put my worry to rest. I never said the guy got the tint done a day before? THE TINT WAS DONE IN 04 or 2004.

That is exactly may point. The tint has been on the car for 4-5 years, and now your saying (as the second owner) it's not good enough for me, so i want you to redo my tint for free, and not only that, now I want it darker. Never going to happen. If the first owner didn't take it back complaining about it for 4-5 years, the likelihood of them doing it for you is astronomical. If you go in there and they do it, i would be surprised.

Your desire to commit fraud means you probably shouldn't be listening to what you think. Just because you COULD doesn't make it morally or ethically right to do so.

Oh yeah, you'll need a receipt if you were going to defraud them, and when they see your name isn't the same as the name on the receipt you're busted.

The only problem that he will face is that lifetime warranties like window tinting rarely if ever on cars extend to anyone but the original purchaser. The same thing happens when you buy tires. From what he's posted I think he's figured this much out. It's the reason that he wanted to pose as the guy who purchased it and not himself. Because he would then have to explain that the guy who bought it also does not own the car anymore, and even if they did, they would never give him a darker tint. They would replace it with the same exact tint that he just destroyed.

I second complaining to parents. They spent ~20k (Cars have tax on them if you want to argue plus I assume they are paying insurance, being under there name still is paying for your insurance ps)
Should be no reason why they can't fork over an extra $150 for your complaints. If I had 20k to spend on a kid, I'd have $150 to shut him up.

OR

If you did buy it, stop destroying the economy more and BUY NEW TINT. It's little pisses like you that are killing small businesses.

Youre asking a ridiculous and general question about window tint so you can defraud a business.

You don't need to ask how to destroy your tint in an RX8 forum. You can ask questions about your fradulent activities somewhere else less respectable.

I'm sure google can point you in the direction of plenty of broke ass scumbags who want to teach you how to rip people off. You're not going to find them here.

Heh, it's not that your just asking a question, or saying that you don't like the tint. Your trying to defraud these people. You basically are trying to get something for nothing. You have no right to say that they should give you anything. You didn't pay for the first tint job, and if you don't like the tint job THEN PAY FOR A NEW ONE! Don't come on here asking us how to get away with making it look like crap on the random off chance that they will pay for it. You bought the car knowing the tint looked like crap, now your trying to get away with basically stealing from the company because you want something that you don't want to pay for. If you don't want to get flamed then don't come in here basically insulting other people. You have a real arrogance about you and when someone called you on it, your like "what me?". If you do have the $ to be paying for half an 8, even a cheaper one, the tint shouldn't set you back too bad. I would talk to the tint shop, see if they will fix it as-is, or just get new tint.

The people working at the shop are (most likely) not stupid, and will be able to tell if you destroy it yourself. Plus, trying to cheat them out of free tint is a dick move... they're there so they can make a living too

I'll give you credit for helping to foot the bill for your car. It shows that you are at least trying to be a responsible young man.
So why not take it one step further and foot the bill for your new tint job if that's what you want?

Be a man [young man] not a momma's boy.
Pay for it yourself or do without it until you can pay for it.

Btw, 2500 divided by 12 months = 208 a month which = not enough to pay for this car, and even if your parents did pay for whatever was left after 220 a month (dont get me wrong it does not bother me that your parents help you out) there is no way you would have enough money to spend on a new tint job just because of a little bubble, so i suggest you just live with your *crappy* tint job.

To ruin tint in 3 easy steps

1.) Stand on the outside of the car facing the window with feet planted firmly on the ground
2.) Swiftly bring forehead into contact with the window at a high rate of speed
3.) Repeat until the tint bubbles
