Great pics L&L! What do the Asian symbols represent on your car and inside on the rear seat? The weather there looks wonderful! I'm in the midwest, here in the U.S. and we don't have anything that looks like that. Wish Australia wasn't 22 hrs. away!!

Guys thanks for your positive feed back , i will attempt to answer all your questions .

Mental pimp
Here on the gold coast most local go barefoot where ever possibly , but i love driving barefoot as i can get the best feel for the clutch and the gears in my car.

.The best type of driving shoes i use are my martial art shoes you can get them from any martial arts suppliers , they are great for wearing /driving and are a 3rd of the price of all the fancy named brands.

Success 07

The asian symbols are japanese KANJI , the simbols near the rear doors mean " The way of the warrior " BUSHIDO.

The other kanji symbols on the bonnet and rear console have different meanings .
One says the year of the SNAKE (my birthyear ) the other says FORCE , ENERGY ( KI) and the thrid has the meaning of SPEED ,WIND , BREEZE.(Translated into modern kanji and combined they can be translated as meaning .

" A YELLOW SNAKE FULL OF ENERGY AS FAST AS THE WIND"

(The name i have given my rx8)

As i practice martial arts and always had a passion for japanese culture i felt inclined to give my RX8 a soul .

If you want you can look up a kanji site and maybe give your car a symbol/ meaning .

Whealy
The front numbplate is a vinyl sticker that i had made up not legal in some areas of oz or overseas .

RX7-RX8
SORRY FORGOT YOUR QUESTION .

Brothervoodo

No further trouble with local Yakuza , infact i meet the head boss , and we have hopefully smoked the peace pipe.

Hopefully this answer most of your questions.

Not trying to hate, but if your not Asian, please don't put Kanji/Katakana or Chinese characters on your car or get tatoos with them. You just look stupid. Just my honest opinion. Nice car and nice pics any how.

i AM NOT ASIAN BUT ENJOY MANY ASIAN WAYS AND CUSTOMS , i think you will start seeing a lot more kanji/katahana and chinese characters become more and more fashionable specially after TOM CRUISES MOVIE " THE LAST SAMURAI" IS RELEASED .

As far as looking stupid , who gives a f#$%^.

That's cool, enjoy our customs/ways. But here's my point my friend, I like certain the Irish clover symbol, and a good friend of mine who is Irish has this tatto on his neck, and it looks pretty dope. Now how stupid would that look when an Asian guy like me has a tatto of a Irish clover. That's all I was trying to get to. Out here in California, even Asian folks who have Kanji/Katakana or Chinese symbols on their cars get clowned.

If getting a irish clover tattoed on your neck does it for you who cares wether you a not irish but asian .

The most important thing is to be yourself and be true to your self and dont worry what people think or say about you what you look like ,what you wear , what you eat .

Life is to short to live other peoples expectations of who you should be , look like etc .

Iam not irish , however i enjoy irish pubs their songs and their beer , and if i choose to get an irish tatto who really cares.?

Currently in Australia lots of people from all sorts of backgrounds are getting MAORI (original new zealanders ) type tattoes as well as japanese chinese character tatooes .

Most of these people are not all maories or asians , they do it because they want to and in the end its there choice .

Dont worry be happy.

Hate to rub it in but our weather temperatures in the pacific ocean are 22 degrees celcious on land average 28 celcious , and we have great looking birds some topless and some tryng to wear a bikini .

The women are sweet and most love the american accent a man would find it preety hard to miss out on having one hell of a time.

I used to go skiing but i only enjoy the snow for a few days , sun surf , sand is more my style .

It is an aftermarket tint. The front and rear rotor accents are home-made. Took me 20 minutes and a cost of AUD$5.00.

Lock & Load,

Very nice pics! and very nice car! Also very nice beach!

Well, coming from full-blooded Japanese, your kanji does not make any sense at all. They are just individual Kanji put togeter and combined, they don't have any meaning. Like you said, they just read "KI", "Hebi", "Kaze".

Also, "KI" can mean many different things. Just look up the real Japanese-English dictionary.

き【気】
1 〔空気〕air;〔大気〕the atmosphere
2 〔雰囲気〕an atmosphere
3 〔風味〕《米》a flavor,《英》a flavour;〔におい〕a smell

Someone said they are not true Japanese Kanji, he's right. Especially the first letter "Ki" is written in a Chinese way.
"Snake" looks OK, but "Wind" is also written in either Chinese way or hand-written-with-brush way. Another words, you won't find this font in newspapers or print publications.

If you like them, good for you! But they are not "true" Japanese writing and I have to grin everytime someone makes this type of false assumption. But that's OK. That don't bother me at all.

Here's some nice story: when I was in college, I had a friend who owned Jeep Cherokee. I made a sticker with Japanese Kanji that read "Ji - i - pu", roughly pronounced "Jeep". It consisted of 3 kanjis. First two was "Ji" (self, myself) and "I" (console, solace), and put together, it ment masterbation. Last kanji, "pu" (husband, man) sealed his fate. All put togeter, it ment "Masterbating man", but Japanese can read it and pronounce it as "Jeep".
He loved it! He had that sticker on his windshield for few semesters, until some chinese student politely pointed out he charactors meaning. It was a very funny thing to do. This was way back in 1994 where you did not see any of these on cars.

Just be careful what you put on your car. It could mean something stupid or offensive to someone with asian background.

L&L - I took a day off from the forum and come back to a four page thread! Really got some folks wound up, but IMO - putting yourself and your car out there for everyone to see is respectable and shows confidence in who you are. Keep on, keeping on!

Now that I've said my piece - Thanks for the additional photos of your homeland. You're killin' me over here, pal!! Those pictures of the beach and water are awesome!!! I showed them to my girlfriend and she immediately asked if I wanted to take a vacation! There goes the savings account. :) Thanks L&L! :D

From one Yellow to another, Nice pics! I visited Autralia a few years ago while traveling the Pacific as I am a Chief in the U.S. Navy and those pics bring back some very good memories (your speaking the truth on American men doing very well there). Live life to it's fullest and keep learning new things (I know I did here about Japanese/Kanji, even after living in Japan for 3 years!). Keep posting pics till they shut you down, Love them!

Michael-- First of all, as a latecomer to this thread, I'll just say very nice yellow 8. You've done a good job adding the kanjis and whatever to the car, and I respect your self-expression. As you ozzis say, good on ya, mate! I've lived in Japan and Australia, and your pics make me so "homesick" I could just buy a flight over today!

A few particulars: LOVE that number sticker! I have kinda wondered about doing that on my 8, but I doubt it's legal in the States. Just hate to block up that front intake with that gawd-awful plate...

As to the whole kanji issue, it's great when those who know this stuff better help us out, not just telling us it's wrong. I lived in Japan, and learned enough kanji and hiragana to get on the right trains, but I'm no expert. IMHO, it has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and I think it is ok for someone who respects a culture to adopt its icons.

I used to crack up about the messages the teens in Japan used to wear on the backs of their jackets, based on direct but awkward translation into english-- just gibberish for the sake of having english on your jacket.

And the James Dean looking bosoosoku at Ueno park were very cool. Is it ridiculous to have Japanese kids dressing like 1950s Americans? Your call, but they were having fun with that self-expression. So if you cover your car with kanji, or cave drawings, or celtic runes, (just not "maturbating man" :D) have a ball! And say hi to QLD for me...

i was just about to say! i'm pretty good at telling the difference between Chinese and Japanese characters and those don't look Japanese to me...Japanese Kanji is much simpler than that...well whatever floats your boat i guess...although most ppl would presume that a yellow car with Chinese symbols all over it, no performanace parts - not even the appearance package or a spoiler, a black strip of sticker under the foglights to represent fake air ducts would probably make it seem like a young Asian teenager driving it and not a grown white man...honestly, no offense L&L, you liking the Asian culture is a complement in the sincerest form but most ppl just wouldn't understand that...

HECK I DIDNT realize we had forum members who are experts on internet personality analysis .

Never needed a mulet to be different or to try and stand out , it comes naturally .

Yeah i find a lot of people restrain themselves for what ever reason (fear , low self worth ,esteem and this effects them in finding real happiness and contentment in their lives.

REBEL at the age of 50 yeah i suppose i have more energy and get up and go then some people halve my age .

As far as yellow fever yeah i love asian pussy but the asian men dont ,really do much for me .ha ha ha.

Algonquin is about 45 miles west and north from the Big City of Chicago. Here we have the Fox River where we can do some boating but river's are a little dirty! Pretty but not the most ideal to do water sports! I am in the wrong area.....too cold for me! Love to visit Australia...long trip though!! I will have to check out the Gold coast website. Wendy

Wendy

This is the official web page for the goldcoast city

http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/

There are heap of other good ones as well .

Yeah the trip from chicago will probably take 22 hours approximately to get to Australia but you could always stop in hongkong or singapore .

This would make it easier for you and your son .

As i said to another forum member whats 22 hours in the overall span of a persons life???

Anyhow if you do decide to come to Australia and want to visit the goldcoast we can help you with your accomodation food etc.

My wife would like the idea of another lady in the house .

She is currently totally out numbered by males myself and our 3 boys and 2 male desexed cats.ha ha ha

I am certain it would be an unforggetable experience for both you and your son.

Cruzdreamer ( WENDY)

Sorry i left out your hubby in the invitation but he is also welcome.

We also have a RE/MAX OFFICE HERE ON THE GOLDCOAST .

Since the gold coast is a popular tourist destination if he exchanged e-mails letters etc with the re/max office OR SOME OF THE MANY OTHER AGENCIES , your family trip could be used as a TAX DEDUCTION , and there is a possibility of him getting AMERICAN INVESTORS TO INVEST on the goldcoast.

This is their web address
www.remax.com .au.
they are situated in BRISBANE 1 HOURS DRIVE FROM GOLDCOAST.

THIS COULD BE A GOOD INCENTIVE TO GET YOU AND YOUR FAMILY OUT OF THE WINTER.

As someone who has made it to Australia, you definitly want to go there at least once in your life. If I ever can manage to get a good job over there I am moving. I have a friend who moved to Canberra, and I've also been to Sydney and little towns around it. Nicest people you could ever imagine and the place was a treat. I was there for 3 weeks and every single one of them was awesome. Great place.

Sydney has a population of nearly 4 million people , its a large city depending what your looking for.

Sydney is nice however heavy traffic overcrowded busy , the harbour the opera house some great restaurants and beaches can be cosmopolitan and yuppish.

Wendy if you were to make the trip to Australia you would have to try and spend at least 3 to 4 weeks this way you could get a reasonable glimpse of most parts of Down under and then you would know what suits you.

Queensland is more for adventurous type great combination of city areas together with deserts outback hinterland areas great barrier reef excellent diving fishing etc .

Everyone has different expectations of what makes a good holiday .

Some of my Melbourne and Sydney friends come to Queensland (Goldcoast )get to their hotels stay there and lounge around the pool and thats all they do .

Each individual has their own idea of what is a good holiday ,

The way i see it is study the country you wish to visit work out your schedule based on the time you have and then priorotice your own individual wants and needs .

Similar to the research i assume most of us did before we commited ourselves to the RX8 .

cheers

Sounds like good advice. I like to do all kinds of things....boating, golf, shopping, dining, theatre, scenic tours and just going to the beach! I'd be taking my son so maybe in a few years when he is a little older and his behavior is better!! Thanks for the info!

The locals here on the Gold coast only look at the ladies if their directly in front of them , they dont bother to twist or turn their necks .

There are some great looking ladies here as many as grains of sand all looking for a good time as long as the guys pay the bills.

They are all models some are last years models .ha ha ha

TAKAHASHI

Somehow when i viewed your web page i missed your wedding photoes etc.

Amelia looks like an intelligent fine young lady but very ambitious , i bet she wants nothing but the BEST>????

The photoes are great you are a fortunate man married 193 days i have been together with my wife for 20years married for 17 years .

I find that Chinese girls are very similar to the Jewish girls who marry Doctors (my sister and a lot of her girfriends have done the same coincedence???hmmmm.

These girls are what i call high maintanance( JAPS ) Jewish Australian princesses/ very similar to chinese pricesses? i do not mean this in a derogatory way.

I am sure your wedding , diamond ring , her dress and your weeding cost enough to put a deposit on a property or even get a spare RX8???

The secret to a good marriage is to be good friends and respect each other and support each other through good and bad times .

Ambitious high achieving people can get bored easily so make sure she is kept bussy and stimulated .
As doctors work long hours she will get lonely especially once the honeymoon period wears off .

I found that if a women respects her husband the marriage will be strong and last a lifetime , however once respect is lost hmmm troubles set in .

Dont give in easily to all her desires and request , dont forget history the Chinese , women conquered the great Mongolian armies with their softness and over a 100 year rule they dissapeared from history as one of the greatest warriors of the world /.

My greatgrandfather was said to be A MONGOLIAN who married a Hungarian women ( part of my family history)

ANYWAY enough advice from an old man , you both look like a nice young couple and i hope you have a great life together.

Wakka pointed out what I noticed right away when I saw your kanji. Try http://www.alc.co.jp for E -> J translations. You'll need to install the Japanese language pack if you have Windows.

Shorinji Kenpo isn't bad at all... I prefer it to Kyokushin Karate and Tae Kwon Do. Although Shorinji Kenpo is just Japanized Kung Fu... on eof the northen styles if I remember correctly. I personally prefer Wing Chun Kung Fu,Chi Kung Kung Fu, Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan and a bit of Shorinji... Good luck with the studies!

Thanks for the web information / and your thoughts on martial arts .

I believe kanji is going to increase in popularity as Tom cruise has just released the film "THE LAST SAMURAI", great entertaining film even though not really authentic or accurate.

Ever since i was a child i had a passion for Japan and its culture customs .
My favorite TV show was "SHINTARO" A Samurai that fights against the evil ninjas and protects the innocent.

Most of the local kids played cowboys and indians i would be a Samurai fighting ninjas . he he he.

takeshi, I checked out your website.. great pics! btw, you're accent is a real treat for me, as silly as it sounds. It's nice to hear how other asians sound like from around the world.. (yes I don't get out much!).

A past girlfriend of mine grew up in melbourne, she is vietnamese and was thrilled with my "American" accent when we spoke for the first time (we met online).

A dream of mine is to visit Australia someday.. Unfortunately I have a terrible fear of flying.

Squidward you can easily get over the fear of flying just drive your RX8 at 230km per hour that should solve all your Fear problems.

You can come down to run the Victorian Gov. Get rid of Brackie for me! He is getting too cocky like Kennett later stage. I think it is common for all politicans when they are in government for long. How about Carr?
