Loud..... really really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really really loud.In the 70's & 80's, I used to be a corner marshal/worker at road races. Cars weren't required to have mufflers at that time. In IMSA RX7's ran in GT class & RX3 in the Champion Spark Plug Challenge with only a pipe coming off the exhaust header. They were LOUD. So loud it it was truely painful. If you weren't wearing ear plugs, you had to hold your fingers in your ear to block out the noise. You will not find another vehical on the road today that can create such an intencely painful noise.
Paul, I don't know what your intentions are. But, don't plan on driving on the street with a straight pipe. Even driving with just the cat is too loud.

Loud..... really really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really reallyreally really really loud.

When I ran my cat without a cat-back and straight through midpipe it sounded bad ass at idle.

When I blipped the throttle it was so loud the whole car shook and I think people in the next zip code heard it.

Loud isn't the word I would use to describe it. I think a shuttle launch would have been quieter.

When I put my exhaust in I started it up with nothing past the stock cat. Still too loud for my taste lol

There's always that one person that just cant listen to what anyone else tells them and has to learn things the hard way...

Judging by his plate in his avatar....at least he's not from California.

Open headers should never be run on the street. Not even because of emissions or anything like that. But it just plain sounds horrific. It'll make your ears bleed, hahahaha!

Open header was louder than what my Miata sounded like.....and that thing had ITBs, cams, header, test pipe, and a RSR Exmag GTII exhaust (one of the loudest exhausts on a Miata aside from a Buddy Club Spec III exhaust).

Don't do it! Don't be ghetto.

Oh....and in California....you'll get a "modified emissions" ticket. I had to revert my WHOLE car back to stock and take it to the state referree and a cost of a few thousand dollars! I don't think I'll ever to that kind of mods on my car EVER again!

I'm soooo glad that I don't drive my Miata anymore....since I think I lost a good amount of hearing now. :P

I run the Mazdaspeed Dual with a straight through midpipe pipe. I love it.

One day I was doing some bracket racing with my 1974 RX4. I was at Seattle International Raceway during a large funny car match.
The guy in the tower over the PA said, "Here we have one of the loudest cars out here next to the funny cars".
Racing Beat headers and dual pipe turn out under the passenger door. Flame on!
