I've searched, found posts and problems but no real answers.

I have a loud whining noise when i let the clutch out. It didn't have it when i first got the car. And seems like its gotten louder and worse now. Doesn't seem to have any real problems other than the noise. I have about 44k miles on it. It had 10k when i got it.

Any sugestions? or experiences?

I went to dealership and they charged me for a transmission fluid change and then said it didn't fix it and it would be around 350-400$ to change the bearing, that ..that is what they believe it is......

Whirring with the clutch out is the throwout as mentioned, but I will say that this throwout is pretty noisy even when new. I have had two now and they all make noise. I say this as you may not have a failure, just noise. Someone with experinence should take a listen before you swap them.

The bearing is cheap. Like $25 bucks or something. Not worth even remembering.

In any case, this can be done on jackstands. Otherwise, you are going to be paying hundreds for what might not even be a problem.
