View Full Version : Coolant Full line on reservoir
quazmosis 05-14-2009, 11:21 AM Hey by chance would anyone have a pic of the coolant reservior where the "full line" is located? I can't see anything where the line is suppose to be?
Can you circle it as well for me? I'm struggling to see it.
04RX8man 05-14-2009, 11:29 AM I don't have a pic but it's on the left side(facing the motor) abut 2 inches fromthe top....(roughly)

The grey connector is the one you unplug if you want your low coolant light to never come on ever again. even if you have low coolant.
quazmosis 05-14-2009, 01:50 PM Ah so even with the gray connector then?
Socket7 05-14-2009, 01:53 PM See that plastic ridge on the side of the tank, the top one? That's your full line. The connector is much mounted much higher up on the bottle. I think if you overfilled it would just puke out the overflow onto your power steering connector.

now i'm more confused. What plastic ridge? I'm not seeing it? Can you circle it? or draw an arrow? Why cant Mazda just put "FULL" somewhere?
Socket7 05-14-2009, 02:27 PM Theres a great big embossed F next to it dude, and a great big L just below it for the low marker.
fastlaneracing 05-14-2009, 02:33 PM No it will not push out any coolant if you fill up over the F line.
Its almost impossible to see where the coolant level is trough the tank so I fill up over F. No problems, there is an evak hoose there anyway.

yes, and that hose dumps directly onto your power steering harness connector. So if any coolant was to vent through it because the system became over pressurized from being over filled, that's where it would go. I didn't say it would for sure, but that would be the reason I would not want to just fill the tank to the brim.
ndhoffma 05-14-2009, 04:55 PM Be careful when filling... there is an overflow hose on the side (goes down the other side of the tank than the side shown above), and if you fill too fast, some may go through this hose. It wont really hurt anything, but itll get coolant on the radiator, and will look & smell like a coolant leak for a bit :p
04RX8man 05-14-2009, 06:06 PM ^yeah and go onto the powersteering connections....
ndhoffma 05-14-2009, 11:11 PM didnt have issues with the connections, but when I was doing a coolant flush, and running the car, I became suddenly worried as the engine bay started steaming... and then smelled like antifreeze for a few days
fastlaneracing 05-15-2009, 01:30 AM Well dont fill up to the lid of course...
But I have filled maybe 1cm over F line and no problems what so ever. I rather have alittle to mutch coolant then to little...
The only way to see the coolant fluid level for me is to remove the battery and the tray, from the left side it is impossible. removing the battery is to mutch work I think.
ndhoffma 05-15-2009, 08:49 AM I find shining a flashlight into the plastic to the left of the cap works... very difficult to see the fluid level otherwise though... pretty poor design IMO
