View Full Version : Re-Amemiya Header
Guys,
Last week, i have finally purchased my first mod for my 8 after owning it for about 7months now. I bought the RE雨宮 header, it was used.
There wasn't any marking of RE雨宮 on it, just wondering how you would tell this is a genuine item? also i bought it for around $515US + swapped my stock header and installation was about $150US, would you consider that as good price? :uhh:
getdamafiaonyou 05-06-2009, 12:17 AM if it's legit...then it's a good price... but idk how to tell if it is
SiLVeRE8 05-06-2009, 12:43 AM what made you buy it if you werent sure that it was the real thing? did you know the person you bought it from?
Ross_Dawg 05-06-2009, 12:49 AM pics would help...
Im_DANomite 05-06-2009, 01:21 AM RE always has a stamp/plate on them
lmao , just hope its good quality , how it handles heat , cracking etc , welds... Btw where did u find this item at?
NgoRX8 05-06-2009, 03:24 AM i don't think it does have a logo on it. at least the one i have didn't have one either. the pics i have seen of the re- header didn't have their stamp on it either.
The way you can tell is that the Air Pump hole on the OBX header is nonfunctional, because it is actually a one piece flange. the Re-Amemiya header is a two piece flange welded to allow the use of the SAIP.

bought it from a friend's friend.

damn... it's already fitted plus no idea what's the air pump hole... any photos to do the justice?
SiLVeRE8 05-06-2009, 03:56 AM If you have a pic of it, we might be able to help you identify if its real or not. Worse case if its a replica, just return it back to him lol :).

i guess it is too late since it is on the car now.
My next question, coming from owning Integra DC5 Type R and TSX, changing the header on those cars makes a big improvement in gain, but with rotary to i expect a similar noticeable gain with the header?
Because after changing from the stock to Re-Amemiya header, i don't feel much gain at all if there's any, in fact, i felt the car's more sluggy at low rpm range, and very very very similar *if any* at high rpm range (bum dyno)
There is a fin to split the center housing exhaust gas flow for maintain the exhaust pulses.

shoulda done more research before, headers for our cars only make a few hp.
don't most headers for the k series replace the cat too?
if it's a genuine re-amemiya, you're probably feeling more of a lack of gain rather than a loss of power, but if it's a replica you very well may have lost hp

Most K-series headers don't replace the cat, At least the one I had and the ones I've seen before did not.

Both running toda header + toda hi flow cat.
... i don't think it is the genuine Re-Amemiya header that i've got :squint: because it doesn't have that fin in the middle that divides it up... looked on Knight Sport's website too and they do have that fin as well.....
for now my plan is to change the cat + exhaust then going back to changing the header to some that's genuine and provide me gain. should i be looking at changing the cat or the exhaust first?
at the moment, i have my eyes on the greddy se and also the JIC magic catback exhaust. what brands are there that makes high quality cat for our 8?
two zero two 05-07-2009, 06:43 AM changing the catback exhaust wont gain more than a few hp as well, but replacing the cat with a hi flow or midpipe will give you some power.
are you looking at keeping your cat or replacing it?
fluidmotorsports has a big exhaust section and a few catback + midpipe combos.
also the RP supercat is pretty decent, i think there was a thread on that a few weeks ago

i live in australia, and we have to run a cat over here, so not much choice.
i was thinking of the JIC catback exhaust, but i'm not sure to change the exhaust first or the cat first? ideas? :mdrmed: i heard that RP supercat don't last very long :suspect: what about the Re-Amemiya Cat? or HKS Cat? suggestion me please.
Ross_Dawg 05-08-2009, 07:44 PM I have the JIC Spartan catback and love it. It may not have the best flow but makes up for it in sound.

why would u say it's not the best flow? what's wrong with the design?
well it's getting bit off topic haha well so to conclude. Cat or Exhaust first for the next stage?
two zero two 05-09-2009, 03:56 PM if you want power swap out the cat,
if you want sound/looks change the exhaust.
the first model for the RP supercat didn't last long, but they changed the catalytic converter on the newer model and that seems to be run better.
I wouldn't worry about the flow too much if you're keeping a cat
why don't you just do both at the same time? that would save you time and/or money if you take it to a shop.
04RX8man 05-09-2009, 04:54 PM yep headers on this car is only about the noise...
