View Full Version : liscense plate screws help dabax2324 04-01-2009, 10:14 PM hey so i just got my rx8 a few weeks ago an the plate just came but the things for the screws to get into are stripped an they wont stay in what should i do PSTNLSS 04-01-2009, 10:24 PM So the bolts are stripped. Or the "Nut" aka Female end for the bolt is stripped? dabax2324 04-01-2009, 10:38 PM female the part on the car its self Easy_E1 04-01-2009, 10:39 PM Did you buy the car from a Dealer? PSTNLSS 04-01-2009, 10:40 PM I'm trying to remember off hand what it looks from when I put my plates on. Best bet might be to go into the For Sale Sections and post "WTB Front license plate holder" dabax2324 04-01-2009, 11:00 PM from like a used car dealer DubbsLuvs8s 04-02-2009, 08:41 AM If it's the front you can go to any auto store and get a kit for about $2 that has bolts and clips that will slide right on. The dealer I bought mine from left me with three bolts for the front and back combined....and they weren't even the right size. The rear would be harder, since the nuts are inside the bumper. (and they are bolts and not screws since they use nuts...pet peeve) dabax2324 04-02-2009, 10:04 AM its the rear nuts part i live i Michigan no front plates required  invasion08 04-02-2009, 10:41 AM For the rear plate the auto store should have a plate mounting kit. It contains 2 inserts and 2 screws. Pop out the stripped pieces from the bumper and put in the inserts. invasion08 04-02-2009, 10:50 AM Kind of like this kit http://www.superiorcarcare.net/alprliplmoki.html dabax2324 04-02-2009, 11:01 AM Kind of like this kit http://www.superiorcarcare.net/alprliplmoki.html would i have to remove the rear bumper too pop them out though invasion08 04-02-2009, 11:04 AM I am not sure. When i removed my rear plate i had to drill out the screws since they would not come out. And once i removed the plate the part the screws went into were gone. I have no idea where they went. Was just left with 2 little square holes. So i went to the store and bought the kit to mount my plate. invasion08 04-02-2009, 11:08 AM I would need to see a picture of the rear bumper. But it worst comes to worst you can drill them out. dabax2324 04-02-2009, 11:13 AM I am not sure. When i removed my rear plate i had to drill out the screws since they would not come out.
