View Full Version : RX-8 Weight? Jason 12-21-2003, 02:40 PM How much does the RX-8 weight? Thanks Jason moRotorMotor 12-21-2003, 02:44 PM I don't have the exact numbers but the I read somewhere that it weighs just under 3000 lbs (something like 2800 or 2900lbs) and in the brochure, it says 1'384 kg for 6MT and 1'394 for 4At h0rde 12-21-2003, 02:45 PM i think this is another one of those questions that could be answered by hitting up mazdausa.com neit_jnf 12-21-2003, 03:26 PM Between roughly 2950 ~ 3100 lbs depending on equipment and options FirstSpin 12-21-2003, 04:46 PM Mine is showing a Gross Vehicle Weight of 3,809 pounds according to the sticker on the inside of the door. It's a six with the Grand Touring pkg. No spare even. Not sure if that's an actual weight. It's always seemed like a high number. Comments? Doctorr 12-21-2003, 05:18 PM 3809 lbs gross, means with all seats occupied by 'average people.' Pretty sure they allow 180 lbs per 'A.P.' So 4 x 180 = 720, 3809 - 720 = 3089 lbs for a 6MT, sounds about right.... Also, if you use a rough horsepower calculation, a 3089 lb RX-8 + a 150 lb Canzoomer (soaking wet!) = 3239 lbs. To achieve a 13.8 second quarter, would require.... = >270 horsepower...... please let it be true, yes, yes! . . . doc tribal azn2 12-21-2003, 07:10 PM gross weight means the max weight the car can hold FirstSpin 12-22-2003, 08:14 AM Thanks for clearing me up on the gross weight terminology. It should have been obvious to me that gross means with a load. I didn't know the 4 passenger, 180 pound assumption either however, so it was to my benefit to confess my ignorance. Thanks for straightening me out. Darn glad to hear it's not as heavy as I'd thought..... |
