Got this done this weekend. Although the lettering on the engine cover is a little week. I think I'm going to try something different there. But for now, this is the look.

WHealy 12-21-2003, 10:12 AM Fab 8, Woops. Forgot to point that out. I'm not painting it blue (that's got to be a shock!) because it's going to be a polished aluminum top cover (http://www.rotaryextreme.com/rx8intake.html) somtime after the next two business days. :D moRotorMotor 12-21-2003, 12:10 PM Now that you have it actually done (instead of photoshop)...it doesn't look all that bad. As a matter fo fact I like it!. It turned out way better than I thought it would. It seems to have metalic flakes in the paint and I think that is what sets it off. WOW! good job WHealy. I might consider doing mine like that (mine is silver) Omicron 12-21-2003, 12:56 PM Nice job. Mazda man 12-21-2003, 01:53 PM I like it but I think it would look better if the large expanse of blue was broken up by something, like stickers or a Rx-8 emblem. You might want to look at this picture to see a Silver version (http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=198778) or check out this thread for a full explination. WHealy 12-21-2003, 06:26 PM Originally posted by moRotorMotor Wow! thanks WHealy! looks good, what kind of paint did you use? moRotorMotor, No problem. And the paint is detailed on the thread as well. But I'll repeat it here too. By the way, the Silver is the ground coat used to prep non-metal surfaces. The stuff I'm using (Duplicolor - Metalcast) is right here. (http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html) markppm, I have to admitt that I don't know what that means. Sorry. Sin 12-22-2003, 12:07 AM For sure looks good!!! Genom 12-22-2003, 12:18 AM Is there anyway to just use the primer? I have a titty gray and actually like that quite a bit :D WHealy 12-22-2003, 06:58 AM Originally posted by Genom Is there anyway to just use the primer? I have a titty gray and actually like that quite a bit :D Genom, To be honest, I don't know. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer. I can't see any reason why not as the finish is the same as with the actualy paint. I seriously considered it between last primer coat and first BLUE coat. Even though I had already seen this color twice before, it was really the first time I thought it might really be a good color to stick with. But I had already agonized over blue or red and decided I was just sticking to my plans. M-ster 12-22-2003, 09:47 AM I like the coloured cover alot, but I think there're too much coloured panels. Would prefer just the main engine cover with colour, that way it gives a good contrast to the rest. Nevertheless, fantastic job WHealy! MEGAREDS 12-22-2003, 10:42 PM Very nice. KTM-316 12-24-2003, 01:18 AM That is sweet! andyamuro 12-24-2003, 04:07 AM wow cool....nice color for your rx-8....i wanna do it....^^ thx for the pic... savedsol 12-24-2003, 12:19 PM Does everyone know you can get EXACT duplicate colors in a spray can? www.paintscratch.com I've used it on my blue WRX and my mother in laws 1991 Acura Legend that is metallic maroon. Both came out excellent. mikeb 12-24-2003, 01:29 PM now that is a cool website thanks MEGAREDS 12-30-2003, 02:18 PM Nice find!
