I always drive with DSC off. Is this a good idea in the rain?

As long as you know how to drive in the rain


DSC will help if you fishtail or start to get into trouble, but if you drive carefully it probably would be fine. I leave mine on just in case for driving when its wet or snowy out usually

Hell yeah but avoid those curbs. The stability control off will give you a chance to drift it around without causing as much wear on the tires, if your into that sort of thing. I would advise that you keep it on though if you plan on driving it in the snow because this car handles like garbage w/out snow tires.

Honestly, it's a safety feature that you don't notice in 99% of spirited street driving and it's there to give you a fighting chance to save your ass when you might need it. Unless you have it kicking in all the time on the streets and it's stopping you from doing what you want, leave it on.

Oh, and if you always have it kicking in on public streets, you're driving dangerously and so if you end up in a wall you should consider yourself lucky for not killing anyone. Take it easy out there, man, especially in the rain. If you need to push your car to those limits you should probably take it to a track or an auto-x day.

I think you're jumping to conclusions when saying that you're driving dangerously if you have your DSC kicking in often. It kicks in fairly easy and driving a bit 'spirited' with for instance winter tires makes my DSC kick in, especially during acceleration in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Some of you may disagree but driving fast doesn't always mean you're driving dangerously.

Why ask when you are going to do what you want anyways?

Honestly on the street keep it on. Take it to the track if you want to turn it off.

I take my car to the track and the line between having control and out of control is very thin. Turning it off and driving like an idiot is just putting yourself, those in the car with you, and everyone around you in danger. Driving with it off in the rain/snow is not intelligent. Even on the track when it rains the chance of accidents go up.

Why disable a safety feature when you're not on a track? I can drive very well in the rain and I have very good car control, but I keep it on just in case something unexpected happens. Keep it on.

No, just no. I feel like the DSC is tearing on my car if I drive spirited enough. Kicks in all the time and overall kills the performance during the few times I can max out the throttle. I drove without the DSC alot of the time when the roads were all snowy here. It's no problem as long as you don't overdo it.

Keep it on in the rain only turn it off if theres something you need to do, like accelerating from a stop.

Ryoma-kun has it right in the winter it dsc would basically prevent me from acceleration at a decent rate turn it off get up to speed turn it on its just a button press no need to even look down for it, click on click off sinple as that, unless you need it off or are ready for tire spin keep it on.

You shouldn't be driving that hard on public roads, seriously. I know you can do it and it feels reasonably safe and it's fun as hell, but the moment you lose control you'll be kicking yourself....

This makes no sense.
You have a safety feature that helps you drive your car close to your limits without consequences and you choose not to use it.
The only sensible place to turn it off is on the track.

Just don't drive your car if your afraid of crashing it, cause seriously, anything can happen.

Everyone has their different preferences depending on where they live and drive. and also their car setup. I hate DSC in the snow and ice, unless I'm on interstate. But that's just my opinion.

Only time it gets turned off is if I'm coming up on a corner I am attempting to drift around. The couple of times I've driven in the rain on the highway the car felt a little squirrely anyway, so having the DSC on was a nice reassurance in case things did actually start to get ugly.

DSC saved my posterior one day on the way to work when a driver on a cell phone decided they wanted to come into my lane. It was a split second reaction and it would of been bad without DSC.

I have turned it off for more spirited driving, but day to day....use it. Kinda like wearing protection when cavorting with women of low morals....just the safe way to be.

i usaly never see the traction control light kick in, but then again i am used to driving a v8 with a open diff in the rain to with no traction control, also on stock dunlops, i leave it on since it doesnt kick in untill i get to being stupid, mine lets me slid to a point till it goes your a retard and kicks in
