the intake tube that is infront of the air cleaner box. Started taking the thing apart and fooling with it, changing this, changing that. Here I sit now with an unusable hunk of tubing that ressembles a pouch of big league chew. AND all this happend PREVIOUS to me doing a search and realizing that I should sometimes just "put the tools down and read first". So I learned a valuable lesson........READ, READ and RESEARCH.
The RX8 club is like underwear, there to catch the sh!t that sneaks up on us and ruins a perfectly good pair of jeans.
Anyway, I'm sure we can't call it a VFAD as its an 2004 4 port automatic. I've tried a few auto recyclers but, I don't want to buy the whole air cleaner assembly.
Any leads anyone?

Its the way I look at things. If it can be fixed, it isn't a crisis. However, I also posses the quality that when I wake up in the morning, I look in the mirror and say "you're bound to f!@k something up today, just make it less exspensive than yesterday and that is progress!"

the entire VFAD assembly can be tossed no sweat. really, dont worry about the whole tube thing. just remember to cap the tube that runs to the intake manifold. that is, remove the entire assembly, and use vacuum caps (you can buy them at autozone) to cap any holes.

^4 port AT's don't have a vfad, thus no need for vacuum caps on UIM.

If you are looking for the tube that is in front of the air cleaner (and behind the front bumper), it's Mazda pn# N3H1-13-200A.
If it's the flexable/accordion like tube between the airbox and the throttle body, its's pn# N3H1-13-221D
Call Mazmart, they sell used & new parts. You can find them in the vendors forums.
