I just bought these bulbs from V-LEDS:

I thought these were the correct bulbs. I was wanting some headlight replacements for my already-HID lights. I looked up the chart they have on their site and I saw D2S. But as you can tell, I accidentally ordered D2R.

So these are the bulbs I SHOULD have bought:

So my question was, will these D2R's that I bought by mistake work fine with my headlights. I know I needed D2S, but they look very similar, and they're both 6000K with White and Blue color.

So before I worried about opening them, and testing them on my car, and if they don't work, then packing them back up and shipping them back in hopes of a clean exchange, I was wondering if anyone on this site knew if the D2R bulb is compatible where the D2S bulb should go???

No, they are not compatible.

D2R bulbs are made for standard-type headlamps.



D2S bulbs are made for projection lamps.




In addition to the different light pattern (note the opaque coating on part of the glass of the D2R's) the base is different.

(some cheapy 'e-bays' are said to have universal bases, but you get what you pay for. Looks versus function.)

 

you should just send them back and get the right ones.

the "universal" type is a d2c bulb which has round notches on both sides of the square notch. your d2r might work if you were able to make a notch on the opposite side, but it would probably not be possible without damaging the bulb.

 

Return them. Even tho they might hit you pretty hard with those bullshit "restocking fee"
