Ok I was in the process of removing my fuel pump but I ran into a problem. I can’t get the ring that holds the fuel pump in place off. Any suggestion? I tried drenching it in wd40 but it won’t come off.
Thanks

Thanks Silver06 02-06-2009, 04:33 PM Have a look at this tool: http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=132111&stc=1&d=1232180833 It is from this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=164726) of Swoope's carbonRX8 02-06-2009, 06:52 PM Get an extra long screw driver with a wide flat head and a rubber mallet. Put the screwdriver head on one of the lugs and pound (counter clock wise.) It will come off. Have fun with the fumes. olddragger 02-06-2009, 07:19 PM the fuel rings has very small holes in the top of it--fill them all up with the wd 40---fill slowly---wait a little while---then get big rubber mallet and a very wide and dull chisel and make rapid moderate force hits on it---it will come off---use the ridges on the top of the ring. OD very good advice.. and a good tool helps. beers  alz0rz 02-07-2009, 12:53 AM something that will distribute the mallet hit a little so you don't end up breaking a tab.. a metal flexible ruler was what was suggested. olddragger 02-07-2009, 08:43 AM yep you have to hit it like a woodpecker would --not real hard ---just fast and constant----almost like an impact wrench would. OD am22 02-07-2009, 01:22 PM Thanks everyone for all the help, i finally got it off. after 2 days lol |
