Just this evening I noticed this really odd squeek noise when I shift into second gear from anywhere. Honestly, it sounds to me like something rubbing on a(n insufficiently) lubricated elastomer. The noise starts when I move to the left, between 1 and 2 in the fork. The noise does not continue if I shift up into 1, but does if I go down into 2. The noise is only present when I am moving the stick. Thoughts?

 

I've never taken my stock shifter off, but if you talk to anyone with an axial flow short shifter, I think they can tell you that there are parts in the shifter assembly that need to be greased...

It could be something that easy that its time to regrease your shifter...

I'm not sure though.
