on the stock system is there a way where i can plug a reqular aux cable into it?

There was an Aux Mod thread with a DIY from 2004 (before either a Mazda module or aftermarket solution was available).

The 'hack' involved soldering wires to the CD player circuitboard; and then playing a CD burned with 80 minutes of dead air.

IMHO, your better solution would be to add a PIE, or DICE or AUDIOLINK (or OEM) adapter module. should be around a hundred bucks. (The lack of more recent threads on soldering should lead one to believe that this is the way to go).

There are many threads of the pros/cons of each of the modules, and DIY's.

Actually the Auxmod is the way to go - (it plugs into the bottom of the radio where the tape player would plug in, then the line in looks like a tape playing to the head unit.. it's pretty cool actually. But of course they are sold out, and I haven't heard of them being in stock for quite some time.. but maybe you can find a used one somewhere.
