I went thru Clear Lake, too. You really have to watch those guys. I'm not sure what that "hidden cost" could be. I'd call them on that BS.

Unless they've changed, watch out for Joe Myers at closing. I deliberately bought elsewhere (even though I live on the NW side) because of the "crap" they pulled when I bought my Mustang in 01. The "loan-guy" started by trying to charge me $900 for the "etch" thing; the VIN number scratched on the glass. I said "I don't want it". He said "it comes with the car and you have to buy it." I told him they missed their chance to charge me for it when they didn't put it on the invoice or the sticker. Then, the bullshit artist that he was, he looks at the computer screen and goes "ooooh wait!! I made a MISTAKE, that was $900 for the TURBO (like they sold Turbo mustangs daily and he got confused). For the 4.7l V8, it's only $230. I told him to shove it, I wasn't paying it.

He finally let that drop, then he tried to convert my soul to LoJack. He worked ten minutes, arguing with me about whether I was a damn fool for not paying $500 for a LoJack system. Then it was tint. Then a hazard warranty for the tires. Hell, he tried to sell me $5000 worth of crap after I'd already agreed on the cost of the car. It cost them a repeat-customer for life and I've told everyone that I know, so hopefully the flim-flam guy has a new job (but I doubt it.)
