View Full Version : injectors at 6500rpm
Z0oMzo0m 01-11-2009, 12:43 PM if i read right, i remeber reading that the third set of injectors kick in at 6500rpm's. now what kind of throttle has to be put into this for that to happen? obviously full throttle, but does half throttle accel. passed 6500 turn them on??
reason why i ask? is iv notice i have had a noise. like detonation after 6500 rpm. now if i dont do full throttle i get like fuel cut off. guess im not going to really know if im leaning out unitl i get AP or a gauge. other options? its an 07 6spd. with several mods. listed below in my "signature"
04RX8man 01-11-2009, 02:49 PM the 3rd set kicks in at 6500 rpms weather its full throttle or 1/2 or 1/4 or 1/32 throttle....as for a noise you might b getting detonation! what octane rating gas do u use? Do you have the stock temperate plugs? Also it may be time for coils! When was ur last time changing them and how many miles do you have on these!

It isn't a fuel injector that kicks in. It is a valve that opens prividing more air to the system. It is possible that a port isn't opening as it should and some ZoomZoom cleaner might fix it. However, with a car as new as yours...I wouldn't expect these problems.
Z0oMzo0m 01-11-2009, 08:36 PM it started with car being brand new, well 40 miles on it when i bought it, and i now have 35,000 miles on it. i did coils and plugs, (mazsport) i use premium at gas stations. i try to stick to one gas station, but sometimes you cant help it. and i have tried diff. statsions for better quality of gas, but doesnt change. i idle ok. somtimes it jumps a little inbetween 600 and 900 but most of time it idles smooth.
zoom44 01-12-2009, 12:10 AM ringing, zinging , metallic noise?
nycgps 01-12-2009, 12:17 AM Your SSV is not functional.
Check SSV, and Engine harness.
Z0oMzo0m 01-12-2009, 04:44 AM yeah sounds like a washer is vibrating (but i dont see anything like that in engine bay to vibrate)... ssv? il look into that..

OK il look into it,
I drive the car everyday. i drive highway, run about 70 to 80mph. (for about 30min) till i get to work. but weekends i drive the car hard. (well i do redline it) it only does it underload in neutrlk i can rev and nothing.
DeViLbOi 01-12-2009, 06:36 AM When the car is not in motion there is no extra air to come into the engine so the SSV doesn't open.
zoom44 01-12-2009, 02:36 PM yeah sounds like a washer is vibrating (but i dont see anything like that in engine bay to vibrate)... ssv? il look into that..
thats the sound its supposed to make when it opens. congrats your car is fine:)
zoom44 01-12-2009, 02:39 PM now if i dont do full throttle i get like fuel cut off.
now this- what do you mean by this?
Z0oMzo0m 01-12-2009, 04:38 PM that ssv valve is kind loud though? noticabley loud!
fuel cut off. well i think that might be in my end of driving. well say il go up high into rpm's with out doing full throttle in first gear and right around 7000 maybe 7500 it kinda like shuts down. but like i said how high of rpm can you go under half throttle before you lack fuel.. its not an everyday thing or anything. im not worried about it. just the way i drove it when it happend.
hmm better example on how it sounds. sounds like a turbo with extra fuel! idk its in my head. and no it cant be recored on youtube!
zoom44 01-12-2009, 04:45 PM yeah at low rpms but at high rpms you cant hear it
there is no "lack fuel" until the actual cut of at 9.5 k . you may be experiencing the PCM shutting you down because the car is not all the way warm. either that or you have an issue with your Ignition solution.
have one of the florida guys ride with you. you any where near swoope?
Z0oMzo0m 01-12-2009, 05:16 PM i dont think so.. and yeah that could be right with the PCM shutting down. not being all the way warm thats possible :D thanks for the help!
04RX8man 01-12-2009, 06:08 PM yeah sounds like the normal sound for the SSV if ur near Orlando I can ride with u and check it out for u!
Z0oMzo0m 01-12-2009, 06:27 PM i live down in port saint lucie! il be in daytona for the 24hour rolex race friday night and saturday night. if mayeb we can do a schedule stop and you can hear!
04RX8man 01-12-2009, 06:33 PM Is that this weekend?
swoope 01-12-2009, 06:59 PM i dont think so.. and yeah that could be right with the PCM shutting down. not being all the way warm thats possible :D thanks for the help!
i will be in vero some in feb. let me know if you need some help.
my 2 cents.
make sure your plug wires are tight. the lower front one has a tendicy to come off.
fresh coils and plugs? i have a set of coils with less than 8k miles if you need them. and what zoom said about the ecu is very important. it the car is not completely warm it will keep you from doing something stupid..
also, do you have the latest flash?
beers
swoope 01-12-2009, 07:00 PM Is that this weekend?
no the weekend of the 22.
btw, i will be at the koni race on friday.
beers
Z0oMzo0m 01-12-2009, 08:12 PM i work in VERO off 95 and state60. at the CVS distribution center. can possibly meet then in FEb. if not then at the race in daytona :D
I have my stock coils still. there isnt anything wrong with them. just did the upgrade to mazsport to get them out of the way. but not sure if they will last to much longer in my car. plugs are pretty new. and yes i do have the latest flash.
I always check my plug wires and they are all ok.
