Has anyone installed this yet? I was kinda interested in it, even though I don't think the stock one is long or anything. I like the reverse lockout. Any opinions? I've never installed one so I really don't know anything about them.

No idea, but like you said the stock one is fine...though this is my 1st rotary so I can go off anything. I will not be getting it.

By pure chance, I met and talked to the people responsible for this product. The establishment is based in SF Bay Area. According to him, this shifter allows for stock shifter nob. But the shifting length is reduced to provide a true short shift action.

It sure sounds great. I wonder who would be the guinea pig first though. :p

I'm thinking about seriously getting it. I like how you can keep the stock shifter too.

I would be VERY interested in seeing a REAL picture of their shifter. The picture shown seems to be incredibly identical to our RX-7 short shifter picture, as shown on: http://mazdatrix.com/g4.htm

We already looked into making them (way back in August - bought new levers, etc.) and had to put the project on the back burner. The RX-8 shifter and tower design does NOT lend itself to easily making a short shifter LEVER of the "normal" design (like ours, Mazdaspeed for RX7, C's, etc.)

It will need to be more along the lines/design of the B&M one for 93-95 RX-7's -- where the whole tower is replaced AND the lever pivots VERY differently from stock.

Your right! They look dead on each other. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll hold off. I'm gonna email them.

FYI - the photos of the shifter are exactly the same, just one is rotated.

Or = more gear grinding and mis shifts if the clutching can't keep up with the super short shifting action.
