987HYS 12-22-2008, 09:07 PM need more details...
seatownracer 12-24-2008, 12:12 AM I am always up for a drive with some other 8's.......let me know!
ICEE WATASHOT 12-24-2008, 12:30 AM I'm in for a drive...I love my car
JoeHawk 12-24-2008, 01:38 AM I'm interested
RotaSpinna69 12-24-2008, 03:34 PM I'm in!
thejew89 12-28-2008, 10:32 PM i think i might have finally figured out a route.
im gonna go run down it one day this week to find out how fun it is. i know that half of it has some high speed corners and a couple low speed ones, ive run that part of it a million times in multiple vehicles. its the second half i added on that i wanna find out if its good or not
heres a link to what i have now, its 70 miles
let me know wht you guys think of it
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Lake+Ridge+Pkwy&daddr=Copper+Cove+Circle+to:FM-157%2FLone+Star+Rd+to:FM-916+to:FM-916+to:S+I+35+W+to:32.55289,-97.110901&hl=en&geocode=FQIC8gEdGTE3-g%3BFVrM8AEduBE3-g%3BFeBz8AEd4EQ2-g%3BFb3f7AEdWJc3-g%3BFXBv7AEdklw1-g%3BFXZX7wEdltwz-g%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=6&sz=12&via=1,2,3,4,5&dirflg=ht&sll=32.523947,-97.130127&sspn=0.167897,0.362549&ie=UTF8&ll=32.483701,-97.059402&spn=0.671892,1.450195&t=h&z=10
987HYS 12-29-2008, 01:58 AM IMO, 70 miles is a little long. especially since it will be a 25+ mile round trip just to get to your side of town (for me at least). If this route is really that good, you know im down, but keep in mind that this will be a long trip for anyone. Keep up the eagerness and keep me posted...
arlingtonrx8 12-30-2008, 03:35 PM I would love a tarrant county cruise but I think this one is a bit long. 30-45 miles would be good I think. Maybe start near I-30 and 360 and head south. But i'm down if others are with this route.
KWarner04 12-30-2008, 08:11 PM What time on the 16th? That's a Friday, so I can probably push my flight home up if it's in the afternoon sometime, but honestly, I think Saturday would be better.
Not trying to create problems, but with work, not sure how many people would be able to make a day cruise on a Friday.
thejew89 12-30-2008, 11:52 PM yeah im thinkin it will be a better saturday during the day type of cruise.
how about a 45 mile run
it still gives us lots of twisties and some fun highway stretches for speed

KWarner04 12-31-2008, 04:53 PM That run on a Saturday sounds good to me.
TX09RX8 01-03-2009, 12:32 AM Run on Saturday sounds good to me, those roads are going to be busy though. How about NE of the Metromess there are some excellent roads West of 35 north of Alliance Airport up to the Red River.
thejew89 01-03-2009, 02:07 AM i dont know any of the roads up around there
ive run the roads on my route on weekends and they arent that busy except around i67.
TX09RX8 01-03-2009, 11:08 AM That's cool, I was just concerned about them being busy in that area.
thejew89 01-03-2009, 04:18 PM so does that mean your comin with then
docmombo 01-05-2009, 03:50 PM sup?
TX09RX8 01-05-2009, 04:04 PM so does that mean your comin with then
I am trying to get things situated to be there.
Lenbo 01-05-2009, 05:58 PM I'm over in Abilene. If I get my body panels in before then, I wouldn't mind making the trip over there to join in. We have a company fleet card for gas, so that's a non-issue.
wassup_nuthin 01-05-2009, 07:05 PM man ill be in killeen tx the 10th thru prolly 20th i think its about a 2 hour drive from there?
thejew89 01-05-2009, 08:11 PM something between 2 hours and 3 hours depending on how fast you drive
and to let everyone know i ran the route on saturday night with a few of my friends and they all loved it. some spots along the roads are a little rough but for the most parts its pretty smooth
JoeHawk 01-06-2009, 10:50 PM Sounds like a great time. What time on Saturday? Are we meeting somewhere specific? Having lunch or something half way through?
thejew89 01-07-2009, 01:13 PM im not sure on a time yet but meeting up and having lunch then goin on the cruise sounds like a good idea
Hollywood7 01-11-2009, 09:51 AM I might be interested

JoeHawk 01-11-2009, 10:17 PM Sounds good. See you Saturday.
KWarner04 01-11-2009, 10:24 PM That works for me. See everyone Saturday!

i would like to know who all is coming too so i know how big of a table ill need to get when i get there
You might want to consider editing your first post in this thread to include all important info and a list of who's coming, like they do with most of the weekly meet threads. Just makes it easier for everyone to see all the important stuff.
And you can count me in.
WTBRotary! 01-13-2009, 10:43 PM i mean if im not going to Possum Kingdon ill try to make it, so if its me and jew thats 2 EDIT: and now KWarner04, besides i need to meet you anyways if your gonna be helping me out a tad ehh??? too bad you love in mansfield... thats a tad far away from DFW correct?

mansfield is just south of arlington.
im about 30 minutes from dallas and 35 minutes from fort worth so not that far away.
im not really worried about drivin to help anyone.
what part of the area do you live in
WTBRotary! 01-13-2009, 10:58 PM Grapevine, I can use my phone's Nav and it should work :D, but if you would like to swing by before i wouldnt mind lol, granted if you did it would make me feel very very.... very young... heh i think id be able to find my way... i hope :D
thejew89 01-13-2009, 11:14 PM to get to mansfield from grapevine you just gotta get to 360 and head south it takes about 40 minutes max drivin the speed limit
WTBRotary! 01-13-2009, 11:25 PM sounds chill, well at this moment im going so add me to the list my friend...
JoeHawk 01-14-2009, 10:59 AM I will be there
987HYS 01-14-2009, 03:53 PM I should be there...

KWarner04 01-17-2009, 06:02 PM I'll post some more pictures later, but wanted to share this one. It's a panoramic shot of all the cars there. It's 4 shots stitched together in photoshop.
http://images.kyleinprogress.com/RX-8/rx8-pano.jpg
The original picture size is 7911 x 3147 pixels (25.38 x 7.95 in @ 300dpi for the photo nerds) If anyone wants the full size picture, let me know and I'll post a link where you can find it.
WTBRotary! 01-17-2009, 06:08 PM lol i want the original picture size, post a link :D, BTW guys i had a great time and we should do it again some time, btw Brian how many miles were on your used Tein S.Techs??? 20,000 right?

JoeHawk 01-17-2009, 08:30 PM It was a good time, despite the Camry. Thanks for planning it!
JoeHawk 01-17-2009, 08:38 PM Few more pics..
TX09RX8 01-17-2009, 08:45 PM Dude you always bail on stuff. Waits for Scott to drop out....

Dood - I'm sorry - I know you were extremely disappointed I wasn't there, but life sometimes gets in the way and I am not always in charge of that.

and btw scott was wanting to set up the next cruise so maybe after we do his ill set up another one with this run changed a small bit
Creto 01-20-2009, 01:49 PM I completely forgot about this, but as it turns out, it was probably for the best. I ended up shredding part of my tire Saturday night doing some regular driving and the results could have been bad if it had been "spirited".
Looks like a good turn out.
agcutie03 01-20-2009, 02:24 PM I'm telling ya, Camry's have been on my hit list for years-since driving home for the weekends when I was in college, it was ALWAYS a CAMRY screwing me up, ugh! I need to find the pic of the one holding us up at the Dragon...
Scott setting up a cruise huh? Is there a time frame in mind for this yet?
agcutie03 01-20-2009, 02:25 PM Wow Creto, sorry to hear that-what happened, and is the 8 okay?
I'm also going to need to know what kind of tires you were on...gotta steer clear of them, I destroy tires anyway...
KWarner04 01-20-2009, 02:37 PM Scott setting up a cruise huh? Is there a time frame in mind for this yet?
I think his words were, "I'll take the next one. We'll do it sometime soon."
I apologize if I misquoted him, but I don't think a timeframe was specified. However...if you hadn't left early, you probably would have known all this already. ;) I'm kidding...please don't hurt me.
agcutie03 01-20-2009, 04:37 PM Oh, psh, well if it's anywhere close to that phrase odds are he's already forgotten he said it-so if anyone wants to take that over...
I had to go rescue my sister, she had a dress crisis, my apologies for bailing.
However, if I hadn't left early, it wouldn't have come out of Scott's mouth for all to hear in a group discussion as there would not have been a single group-so it's a catch 22.
I'll let this one go, no hurting necessary. ;)
KWarner04 01-20-2009, 04:43 PM However, if I hadn't left early, it wouldn't have come out of Scott's mouth for all to hear in a group discussion as there would not have been a single group-so it's a catch 22.
...shaking my head in confusion...
agcutie03 01-20-2009, 05:13 PM ...shaking my head in confusion...
Welcome to my world. :banghead:
Creto 01-20-2009, 05:42 PM Wow Creto, sorry to hear that-what happened, and is the 8 okay?
I'm also going to need to know what kind of tires you were on...gotta steer clear of them, I destroy tires anyway...
Kuhmo Ecsta SPT's... it's the neg camber on my rears that is chewing them up on the inside tread. Unfortunately, I had not gotten on the ground recently to check the inside tread, as the outside looked great.
thejew89 01-20-2009, 11:57 PM how bad is your camber?
Creto 01-21-2009, 09:49 AM Allegedly it's -1.8, but it looks more than that.
agcutie03 01-21-2009, 10:31 AM Yeah, same thing happened to me, if I hadn't been fixing my front end I'd never have seen the cord sticking out on my back tires-I'm such an idiot, though, everyone kept saying I needed new ones and I kept looking at the outer tread thinkin'...?? It looks great to me...??
An alignment helped but I'm still going through tires way too fast-guess it's just comes with the springs, gotta deal with it. :) Sorry to hear about that, though, glad it didn't happen on a cruise!
thejew89 01-21-2009, 07:25 PM yeah good thing it didnt happen on a cruise but it still sux that it happend period.
why are you running so much negative camber on the streets?
warren(silver-roxy-8) 01-21-2009, 08:16 PM what kind of wheels are the one's on the silver 8 in the pics?
arlingtonrx8 01-21-2009, 08:31 PM I will totally be there next time.. Make it on a sunday??
WTBRotary! 01-21-2009, 10:34 PM ill be there hopefully, tell Scott lets get another drive setup soon, and Brian ill buy the springs w.e
thejew89 01-22-2009, 02:24 AM just let me know when you want them
TX09RX8 01-22-2009, 08:22 AM The pictures are awesome - I just have one question - where is the token old guy? Man suddenly I feel old - but hey, the cars are awesome so if I can make the next one I will be there!!
jptalky 01-22-2009, 10:02 AM what kind of wheels are the one's on the silver 8 in the pics?

jptalky 01-22-2009, 12:28 PM How much do they weigh?
Probably around 19-21. I thought I saw it somewhere at one point, but I don't know anymore. The wheel weight database has the 8.5 version of mine at 20.7.
987HYS 01-22-2009, 01:23 PM at 18X9.5 those wheels weigh 22-23
jptalky 01-22-2009, 01:34 PM ^ you're probably right. I saw the 17x9 at 19 and 17x8 at 20 so I just went with a range.

with those wheels, you should paint your calipers name, or buy aftermarket ones if you're willing to spend the money, that would look sweeeeet
