How much does it cost to get one?

I'm interested in a autostarter for the auto.

Why could you want it anyway? S2K look alike?

may be i should clarify, i want the remote starter, not the start button inside the car

I got one installed with my alarm. It's soooo much easier to abide by the cold shutdown procedure. If my roommate needs to get out of the driveway and is parked infront of me, I can move the car, get out, remote start it, go inside, and the car will turn itself off after 10 minutes. I like to think that leaving it on for 10 instead of 5 replaces the need to rev the engine up at the end....

They're great for autos but are generally illegal with manuals. I'm just SUPER careful to always leave the car in neutral when I park.

yea the remote starters are nice, the actual start inside button like the s2k i think looks soo cool, but it is not compatible with our LHD, they are made for RHD :-(

is there any downside on having the remote starter on manual transmission?

With the manual transmission, you just have to remember to leave the car in neutral with e-brake on. The commercial units have wires to the neutral switch and e-brake switch to ensure this was done (they will not activate unless the car is in neutral and the e-brake is applied - if they are installed correctly).

On any application, the downside to this device, is you loose the function of the anti-theft chip in the key. They have to hide a key in the car (close to the keyswitch) so the auto-start can start the car.

You have to decide for yourself if this is an acceptable trade-off.

you would still flood the engine...after you start the car, move it, then remove the key after only moving it, you'd flood the engine...you wouldn't be able to remote start it right afterwards, given that you car floods everytime you don't let it warm up to normal operating tempearature (i don't know, i've never flooded my engine)...am i missing something here?

edit: basically, to clarify what i'm saying is, you still turn the car off before it gets to normal operating temp...i don't think there is a way that you can start the car, move it, and keep it running using the remote start, then have it shut off 10 minutes later by itself...you'd have to remove the key thus turning the car off, remote start it, and then it will turn off after 10 minutes with the key out of the ignition

Actually you can:
- start the car,
- move it,
- press a combination of buttons simultaneously (depending on the brand) on your remote starter,
- hit brake padel to activate the remote starter operation,
- remove the keys, engine will NOT turn off

The engine will turn off after 5-10 minutes depending on how you have programmed it.

(NOTE: thats the way my current remote starter on an auto transmission works)
