For those of you with polished rims, what are you using for cleaning and protecting your rims? Is there anything different with regards to this than with the stock rims?

Use Mothers aluminum polish to clean. There is no protecting unless they are clear coated.

I've had polished rims on bikes before, and the material and priciple are the same.

I use eagle one "never dull", it's a cotton based polisher with compounds in it. It works great on tail pipes and other aluminum stuff. Comes in a can, and you just pull a little bit off when you need it. I've had the same can for like two years, a little goes a long way!

Maybe use the mothers afterwards as that will help to protect it a bit more.

are they polished or chrome, there is a common misconception cuz tehy look similar. if they are polished, I suggest getting them clearcoated in ensure that they will be easier to clean and protected from the crap on the road. this can be done by anyone that does clearcoats such as a paint shop.

Mazda polished rims are clearcoated. You would care for them the same as for the stock painted rims.

Gordon: I had polished ones, but they didn't appear to have any kind of coating and they seemed to be tarnishing. I have seen the new chrome ones, and there is definitely a clearcoat of some kind on them. Maybe I didn't look closely enough at the polished ones.
