View Full Version : SYD dyno session
Guy came into the ROTORMASTER shop today with his RX-8.
Plate = EVOLV
Nice exhaust upgrade (No extractors yet) & it went straight onto the dyno.
Rear wheel power = 118kW
Monday will have a stock one on there to get the power reading for comparison purposes.
Apologies for the quality of the pic. Taken from my phone cam..........

118 sounds so dreadful I don't think I want to hear about stock!
By the looks of it nothing was done about the front wheels so I assume the ECU went into "safe" mode???

Forgot about that. Excellent thought. Will pass it on.
Now to research the way to bypass that problem.

RIC SHAW 12-13-2003, 09:58 PM Guys on my dyno we get around 100 KWS out of a std RX8 at the wheels.
this is in safe mode. my car with the new rear muffler gets about 8 KWS more.
we now sell them for $380 + fit.

Hi Ric,
Do you have any pictures? If you fear the wrath of hymee in a quazi advertising prevention guise, you could PM details.
Also, where's you workshop?
Kev.
Ric, I'm of the same mind as Kev. I live between Brisbane and Sydney, but never go to Brizzie - except for rugby tests or to get further north. Whereas I am in Sydney at least once a month, thus your workshop is far more comvenient.
Incidentally 8% increase in power with just a cat-back (?) is way beyond what the Yankees believe is possible from any of their exhaust mods to this motor.
Hymee 12-14-2003, 01:31 AM So (incase I missed something), is this "safe mode" all true?
I think mine was 120rwkW on the PT dyno, but I don't want to get into dyno wars.
Ric - what sort of dyno is yours?
The one on the photo looks like it might be a DynoLog to me, as it is very similar to the PT one.
Cheers,
Hymee.
PS - I'm not the Advertising police :) The guys would love to get some pics. Ric, maybe contact the forum admin rx8club@charter.net to enquire about forum advertising/sponsorship. Then you can get your own little sub-forum and banner adds.

RIC SHAW 12-15-2003, 04:26 AM guys my work shop is at,
35 parramatta rd fivedock nsw 2046
ph 02 97167690
ph 02 97985713
fax 02 97164919
i dont want to know about dyno wars and yes they read differently as the owners set the inertia and corections differently. they are just a tool to do a job. i spend my life on the dyno and get sick of people comparing them all the time. my dyno is a dynomax 450. from melb.
p.s can anyone help with a pin out diagram for the ecu?
ric.
Hymee 12-15-2003, 05:22 AM Regarding the dyno wars - No, I don't want to go there, have seen it all before. Yes, people need to realise they are a tool, and one dyno should only be compared against itself. Sorry to make comparisons, but it is hard when you have your one down there, and I go to a different one up here.
BTW Ric - Would you be interested in having a Sydney dyno day?
Cheers,
Hymee.
Ric,
Would you have any recommendations on how I can get this muffler fitted in Adelaide? There was some talk the thing was actually prototyped over here ...
