Greddy Turbo Install. Are these Dyno #s Accurate?

Sorry for the terrible picture. My scanner **** the bed so all I can do right now is snap a picture of the dyno printout.

I’m not in any way complaining about numbers because after all that’s all they are “numbers” I’m very happy with the additional power. The car is exactly what I wanted, excellent handling with some get up and go. I am a little curious as to why my “numbers” are much lower than others I’ve seen on here. It was dynoed on a mustang dyno so I know the numbers will be a bit lower than a dynojet but I guess I would like to know if these are within reason. I just want to make sure nothing is wrong with the car preventing it from making the power it should. The AFRs are mid to high 14s at idle and mid to low 11s in boost. The boost controller is set to 8 lbs but it sometimes touches 9.5 and then quickly goes back down. The technician said the car seems to be running just fine and the AFRs are well within a “safe” range. He said if other people are seeing 240 to 260 HP to the wheels at 8 or 9 lbs then something might be going on. He added that my high flow cat could be fried restricting some flow but he didn’t think the car would run this well. I know simply asking what is wrong would be stupid since it could be a number of things so I’m just looking for ideas.

The car has the Greddy Turbo Kit w/ Emanage Ultimate, Mazsport CAI upgrade, Mazsport check valves, Synchronic BOV, SR Motorsports High Flow Car, Greddy SP2 exhaust.

what the..? that can't be right. those numbers are like what people get stock sometimes. not even 200 hp can't be right with that much boost. you can get about 300RWHP running at 8 or 9 psi

Yeah I was thinking about getting a mid pipe at some point. I should add that for me to say the car is "noticeably" faster would be an understatement. The car pulls like a maniac when boost kicks in.

did you have your emanage tuned or is it at the base map that comes with the turbo kit?

This might be a stupid question but will I need to have it retuned if I do replace the coils and plugs?

I don't think so....then again depends on what coils you go with. If OEM, probably not. Plugs shouldn't matter. I'm just guessing here, someone else may be able to clarify.

I thought about that too. I guess it wouldn't hurt to pay for a few pulls on a different dyno.

wat?

9 PSI on the greddy turbo will give you approx 270 whp.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't expect much more than 280 whp due to the limited amount of air the turbo can flow, regardless of how much boost you run. It is technically possible to get about 20 whp more, but only a very small number of people have been able to do it.

The greddy kit is designed to do around 240 whp.

If you want more, get the MM turbo upgrade. It can do north of 300 whp at 9 psi, and over 400 whp if you had the desire and a few other supporting mods installed.

yeah, that was not with the greddy.

the greddy made 272 whp and 210 tq at the same psi.

I've gone up to 12 psi with the 3071r, so the numbers in my sig are quite understated

So basicaly i'm losing 60 -70 hp somewhere. I will get the MM upgrade once this turbo goes. The car is almost 4 years old and I only have 14,9xx miles on it so I should be able to stretch it out a year or two. I'd like to figure this out first though..

the greddy turbo is OK if you don't mind the low ceiling on power.

The two issues I have with it are:

1. The turbo has journal bearings and they wear out quickly. My turbo was on it's second rebuild and that only lasted one year before it started to smoke again.

2. The turbo is peaky. It's not easy to modulate the power since it spools up real quick and hits peak psi immediately. While this sounds nice in theory (quick spool), it's not that good. With the 3071R turbo upgrade, spool time is virtually identical, but you can give a small amount of throttle and modulate how much boost the turbo generates without a lot of trouble. It doesn't just spool and peak (on/off switch).

I don't have many examples (since partial boost would be boring to record), but check out 0:19 sec in, you'll see me keep boost at around 1-2 psi for a few seconds:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUoA0RuD7Pk

That's what I mean about modulation of boost, and that is difficult on the greddy.

Have you check for a boost leak? The huge drop looks like the turbo stalled, but that would not be right at all! I would check all pipes to make sure they are sealed and do a pressure check on her...we use to do pressure checks up to 30 psi, even tho we would only run 17-25...better safe then sorry...what is your afr at?

the dyno chart clearly shows the car is producing more torque than stock for a little while, but it drops off quickly and the horse power numbers are lower than stock...

boost leak ... maybe.

but there's no reason for the car to drop down to 50 hp at 7700 rpm....

coils perhaps?
