LED fogs melt OEM housings?

I was interested in upgrading my yellow fogs to something with a little more light output, and i saw some LED bulbs that fit into the OEM fog lights, but i also read that LED's get really hot, and some people had trouble with them melting their fog housings. I was wondering if there is something else i could put in that would give me more output with out having to fabricate the OEM fogs to work an HID fog system.

o_O i cant imagine anything being as hot as a normal halogen bulb ... led should be the coolest...a hid bulb runs cooler then a normal bulb (normal 35watt versions anyways)

only way i can see anything melting is if you went with higher watt bulbs

You're never going to get higher output with LED "bulbs" for your foglights.

LEDs don't run hot, and they also won't give you more output than the stock fogs. Better off with HID fogs.

I have these:

Nothing but looks. Doesn't do squat, altho it matches my 6000K HID's pretty good.

In fact, I think I forgot to plug the foglights back in when I had my front bumper off for my turbo install....oh well.

Hahaha

High power leds, such as the cree 1000ma models get extremely hot. Without proper heat sinking they can get so hot that they destroy themselves.

With that said, any premade H11 led is going to be designed not to over heat.

Saying that leds don't get hot is completely false... you guys are just used to the little 20ma wimpy leds.
