Don't you hate the ones that just have to brag?! I could spin the tires on the 8 just as well as the vette...course there had to be ice or snow on the road...
See you at the AutoX...I want to get a close look at this 'toy' you have now.
NMOcho 08-14-2007, 06:53 PM LOL... Honestly, I just need to get a safe curb free place to see how the car feels when it spins its butt out... I miss that confidence I had knowing my 8 so well.. So practice makes perfect.. :) hope to see some 8 this saturday...
NMOcho...I have to say I agree with that logic so I withdraw my earlier comment. It was/is very easy to get confident in the capabilities and limitation of the 8. I do miss that.
See you at the Auto X!

I agree. And for me, for right now, the balance of these is perfect.
Unless something goes up in smoke, I'll be there Saturday. Hopefully others as well.
PS: I think that the next weekend is a Wallace Bow track day. While I'll be out of town, my understanding it that this is a good event for track time. Things are done similar to they way they where when we did the rent2race thing in that no passing and whatnot for safety. Also quite affordable at $80
Wallace Bow Event (http://racingsouthwest.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47216)
Someday I will be making a WB event - just not this one. Still would be good to have some 8's to represent!
stinger 08-16-2007, 06:24 PM Well I am 50/50 on Sarueday's Auto X. My wife says that it is fine for me to go, I just am not to sure about leaving behind after her knee replacment surgery. I will not know for sure till just about time to leave for it. I sure hope to see everyone there!
stinger 08-19-2007, 01:59 PM I hope that everyone who was able to go to the Auto X last night had a BLAST! Unfortunately my wifes knee was not doing so well yesterday and she was not asking me to stay home (kept saying I could go), but I knew better! I hope to see all of you at the next one in September!
zeblien 09-09-2007, 09:12 PM Hay Stinger, You have competition. I met someone (forgot the paper with his name.. sorry ;) ) with a nice 2004 Yellow RX8. He will post here he says.
Anyway, hows everyone been. When are we going out for BBQ?
Juggernaut9 09-13-2007, 12:28 PM You guys should post more than just for AutoX.
Juggernaut9 09-13-2007, 12:45 PM I noticed none of you have a Custom User Title. You can change it by clicking "User CP" at he top of the page & then clicking "Edit Profile". Enter what ever you want it to display under your user name in "Custom User Title" & save changes. Just an FYI, but you probably already know this.
stinger 09-13-2007, 06:29 PM Hey Juggernaut! It sure is great to see someone else around here!
How you been Zeb? You liking your new digs of base?
I agree it sure would be great to have a get together before winter sets in! I am thinking of a drive in the mountains towards the end of Sept. 1st of Oct. to view the changing of the leaves!
stinger, how is that young lady of the house that had the knee work done doing? Well, I hope.
I'd suggest a trip to Chama for the fall colors in mid-Oct, but I'm afraid gas prices might be an issue. I took highway 17 from Chama to the Colorado one year - thru the pass - and the colors were really something.
Some examples from past years: http://picasaweb.google.com/fpwish/FallColorsAroundChama

Hey there stranger!!! Great to see you back in here! She is doing pretty well. She has been taking some short walks lately and actualy started to drive again, the Focus for right now because the seats are not as low as the 8's. Thanks for asking!
How is your new ride treating you? how much are you missing the 8? You know if we can get something worked out for a drive/get together, it sure would be nice to have you and Ocho along as well!
sapper0761 09-15-2007, 07:16 PM just wondering if someone from el paso/ft bliss is welcome here or do i need to look for a tx group?
zeblien 09-16-2007, 11:25 AM You are welcome here.
Hello, nice to meet you.
sapper0761 09-16-2007, 07:31 PM thanks for the warm welcome. i am buying an 8 as soon as i get back from iraq. actually driving up to nm to get it. el paso dealers are really limited. i am so jazzed about it and can't wait till i can start modding it. i have a running wishlist that so far tallies about 5200.00 with stuff i can do myself.
Juggernaut9 09-17-2007, 12:05 PM Hey Juggernaut! It sure is great to see someone else around here!

I'd be up for that. But I live in Alb. where would the mountain drive be?
zeblien 09-17-2007, 06:55 PM How about Sunday at 11am: Drive for BBQ like last time, then up the mountain, or where ever.
Juggernaut9 09-20-2007, 10:34 AM So, that makes two of us anyone else?:wavey:
stinger 09-20-2007, 06:19 PM So are you talking about driving up to the crest? I am open for that myself, but has anyone checked the weather lately? From what I understand it is supposed to rain pretty much everyday for the next 3 days. It sure is doing one heck of a bang up job right now!!!
zeblien 09-20-2007, 06:36 PM At least to get BBQ. The crest may not be a great idea, but we could drive to whats that town that we went to last time... or w/e.
Chakara 09-22-2007, 12:58 AM Damn, once again I'm out of town this weekend. But someday...someday....
stinger 09-22-2007, 03:16 PM Well once again things have taken a turn around here and I am not going to be able to make tomorrow! Sorry about that everyone. Hopefully next time things will work out!
MadDog, I tried to drop you a PM, but your in box is full so it won't let me. Delete a few so that I can drop you a PM.
NMOcho 10-08-2007, 05:10 PM MadDog, I tried to drop you a PM, but your in box is full so it won't let me. Delete a few so that I can drop you a PM.
MadDog hasn't posted anything in the forum since July, I sent him a PM several months ago asking about turbos and nothing. MazdaManiac might be only person that knows where or what he has been doing.
I thought about calling his cell and I still might, but I thought I would give the forum a chance.
How is that yellow monster of yours doing NMOcho? Added anything since I saw you last at the AutoX?
NMOcho 10-10-2007, 12:31 PM Yes. would be curious on what he has been doing.
The Vette is great!!! Just have the intake on it. I did lower it about 1 to 1.5 inches, so it looks nasty now. But I really have to watch speed bumps and driveways.
It's a shame that I see so many 8's and still so few in the forum. :icon_no2:
I know the Vette's have more years on the road, but the 7's and 8's really should be like the Vette's owners and waive at each other ect. Instead you get next to a another 8 and they refuse to look and do whatever they can to get away. :banghead: There was pretty good thread in the CA about that.. if you can find it, pretty good read.
I really like the brotherhood/sisterhood that you get with the Vette. But Ali and I are pretty young compared to most owners.
I'm sure your lexus is treating you right :)
Jim (Stinger) sent you an email.... few days ago...
To the rest, hello and hope all is well.. October busy month of friends/family, I will be to busy to visit final auto X of the year.
Picture is from this weekend but from crappy camera phone, but can see how low it is now.
chow justin
stinger 10-10-2007, 03:57 PM I know what you mean Ocho! It is at least great to see the 2 of you around here still! That vette of yours Ocho is sure SWEET!!! I have not seen MD or his 8 in months! I dont know what happened to him.
NMOcho 10-11-2007, 12:36 PM Stinger
Why thank you... did you get my email? I sent to you on 10/02/07. :)
Well if we run into each other, I will let you take her for a spin...
I just got the zaino car show wax kit.... should help it look oh so nice.... let you all know if it was worth the money..
I also just ordered my rocker and front panel savers, since my car is so low now..
So what has the other 8 owners been doing??? how about just saying hi, to see who all is even alive out there.....
Chow...
Kewl....any word from Maddog?
stinger 10-12-2007, 05:57 PM Ocho, yes I did get your email. I just have not had a chance to reply to it!
zeblien 10-19-2007, 07:45 PM http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc25/zeblien/knocking/?action=view¤t=1shaking.flv
If anyone gets a look at this, let me know what you think. That is the shaking and engine knocking video that is "normal".
It may be normal, i dont know.
Thanks!
Juggernaut9 10-22-2007, 09:47 AM Zeblien, I read your other post "http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=129289" and that diagnosis sounds about right for Garcia Mazda. That’s what they told me about my drivers’ side HID blinking continuously. They replaced the bulb then the whole assembly then said it was normal and compared it to a red 8 that one of them owned. Why would they say there's a problem and then say its normal? Their either ripping off Mazda for warranty work or can't figure it out and trying to get rid of you.:spank:
stinger 10-22-2007, 04:52 PM They are ripping off Mazda for warranty work or can't figure it out and trying to get rid of you.:spank:
I have to agree with this 100%!!
Chakara 10-26-2007, 10:57 PM My brief experience with Garcia is that they are crooks - go to University. They aren't great - but seem to be fair.
stinger 10-27-2007, 04:43 PM I had an interesting night last night 10-26-07! I almost was side swiped & you won't believe what almost did it! On the way home around 9pm there was this white 8 head north in the same direction that I was going to go. So I caught up with it. Just as I was about 1/2 way up along side it the driver decided he wanted to be in my lane instead of his. By the time he realized there was a vehicle there and not just open asphalt 3/4 of my 8 was driving in the median/painted turning lane. Luck that was there because in another mile, this lane does not exist! What are the ODDS of seeing another 8? Let alone seeing another 8 and it being the car that just about creams you!
I have always used University. I have had one dealing with Garcia and lets just say they DO NOT come highly recomended from me!
So how has everyone been?
Aug03-rx8 10-29-2007, 11:39 PM My rx8 was hard to start in the AM, i took it to American Auto and they replaced the spark plugs- said they were worn out. $250.00 !! (On my new engine) Where should i be going now that the warranty at University is over?
They were great by the way, Debbie took care of us for 4 years.
Also my two rear rims are bent or damaged, im thinking it is from having flats fixed, they always have so much trouble taking the tires off the rims. What do you all think?
Brant Palley, lurking on the sidelines.

If I was you Aug03, I would start taking any mechanical needs that you are not comfortable with doing yourself to Tom over at Rotary RX! Here is a Link with all thier info
http://rotaryrx.com/
I have to agree Debbie was really great to work with, as well as the rest of University Mazda.
NMOcho 10-30-2007, 07:04 PM Also my two rear rims are bent or damaged, im thinking it is from having flats fixed, they always have so much trouble taking the tires off the rims. What do you all think?
NM roads and potholes would be more likely to blame than tire repair.
RotaryRX guys probably best bet to have car worked on.. :beerchug:
Who, do you think, didn't tell us about the big grand opening of the microbrew house out by their place....who?
A grand missed opportunity! I'm not a big beer drinker, but that would have been interesting. Will they be doing any kind of open house as a regular feature?
zeblien 10-31-2007, 09:18 PM Aright, I am filing a complaint (or have already) with MNMO regarding their faulting service and refusal to acknowledge my car issues as anything but normal wear and tear (hardly).
I ask if any of you want to spend a few minutes out of your day to give them a call and tell them your horrible story with Garcia, that will help this issue go a long way.
I have my car at University now, and they have fixed the big issue, which was the shaking car and the engine knocking.
Oddly enough, it is the motor mounts, which Garcia looked at twice, on my recommendation.
This time around, University seems to be knowledgeable.
NMOcho 11-05-2007, 05:08 PM Who, do you think, didn't tell us about the big grand opening of the microbrew house out by their place....who?
A grand missed opportunity! I'm not a big beer drinker, but that would have been interesting. Will they be doing any kind of open house as a regular feature?
Oh No:uhh: You found my drinking hole.. its walking distance from my house.. haha.. Actually I didn't even think about it.. Trust me I was so pissed that they had it on a weekend that we went on a trip... it was to late to cancel.... I really hope they are going to do it more often.. But the Lazy lizard in cedar crest at the Triangle has amazing beer.. and decent food.. Friday night is usually live band.. really fun place to hang out. All local beers and wines.
The brewery is building this huge solar dish that will follow the sun, think 50ft in diameter, then retract at night...
Since they are so close you need to tell them to do the grand opening event more often, just call it something else.
NMOcho 11-19-2007, 05:30 PM Anyone want to buy my, stock exhuast? I have the muffler and stock midpipe with cat and presilencer.. If your out of warranty, a new cat will cost you some high dollars. I believe maybe 10,000 to 15,000 miles on the stock Midpipe and about 5000 to 8000 on stock exhaust. I also have stock airbox. One screen missing as used it in the racing beat system. Just taking up space in my garage, so give me some christmas money...

I sure wish I could help you out Ocho! As it is I am having to save up for a new CLIMATE CONTROL MODUAL. The damn thing is 325!
zeblien 12-20-2007, 06:37 PM Both were given to me by dealer for all the crap they put me though. I dont want them.
They are on order and should be here by end of December.
Car Bra (only without front spoiler) with dealership installation, $125. Actual cost is $170.
RX8 Sun Screen $20 (new at dealership, waiting to be picked up). Actual cost, $35.
zeblien 12-20-2007, 06:38 PM Also, update with Garcia Mazda. They fired the service director and agreed to work with me and gave me the above, which I would rather have the money for xmas gifts.
If anyone is interested, email me at zeblien@gmail.com

That's a start. Well free stuff is cool, :icon_tup: ebay or post them in the for sale section of this forum.
Happy holidays in this ghost town..
Chow..
Justin...
To all you current and past 8 owners....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Drive safe, be safe, and have a wonderful holiday.
stinger 12-30-2007, 12:17 PM Ocho
GHOST TOWN is an understatement!!
I have felt all alone in here!
I know it is a lil late but Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all of you as well! It sure would be nice if we could all get together again when the weather warms up a little bit for a drive or a few drinks or such to catch up with each other!
NMOcho 02-25-2008, 02:04 PM I'm assuming everyone has sold their cars or have left the state... :icon_no2: Warm weather will soon be here... I took the corvette up north of Denver and ran 10 to 20 over speed limit whenever I could and got 29 to 30mpg for the entire trip... Was very pleased. But all the pot holes and rough roads in CO made for a bumpy ride and my wheels are now out of balance. Lets just say, i'm not complaining about any NM roads after driving I-25 in CO.. I know there is a lot more snow up there, which obviously kills the roads faster.
Anyway if anyone wants to know about the brewery in Moriarty... here ya go
Not sure why they don't open on weekends, I'm at work during their operating hours, so one day next year I may get there.. LOL

Hi - you can visit and tour the brewery M-F 9:00am - 5:00pm. We are often here later, and sometimes on weekends, call ahead for availability.

stinger 02-26-2008, 06:10 PM Hey Ocho!! I was think the same thing, that everyone sold thier 8 or moved out of state!! It is Great to hear you are Enjoying you Vette!! I gues I am the last mamber that still has an 8!
Chakara 02-27-2008, 02:29 AM I'm still around. Get out to the church auto-cross when possible and still loving the 8.
MadDog 02-27-2008, 07:01 PM I'm still here, too. Just pulled the 8 out of mothballs. Haven't driven it in almost a year. Lots of other "life" stuff keeping me busy for a while. Hopefully its all settled for a while. I wasn't sad to see 2007 go....
NMOcho 02-28-2008, 02:42 PM MadDog is that you? Well sorry to hear 2007 wasn't grand for you.. Mine was good minus my auto accident. Anyway great to hear from you!!!
Stinger.. Craig still has his...
Anyway.. not sure what you all are doing this saturday... but many corvette owners and hell anyone with a nice car, truck, bike, or whatever it may be meet saturday mornings at starbucks on Jefferson, just south of Paseo, down in the Journal center area. Hello deli and some other stores are all in that shopping center. There is some very impressive machines that show up... everyone gets there oh I say 8ish to 11am. Would be great to see ya there...
Here is a link to show a small sample of the cool cars there... If you need more info just let me know...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1867515
Hello everyone! Especially good to hear that you are still out MadDog.
NMOcho I got your voice message about the Saturday. I plan on stopping by. Right now I'm suffering in Melbourne, Florida. Suffering, no surfing! I've been here all week. Poor me! The down side is my stay here is work related so not much free time for anything else.
And for you folks that think it is always nice and warm/hot in Florida during the winter it has been in the high 30's and low 40's at night!
Hopefully I'll see ya'll tomorrow
Fred
MadDog 02-29-2008, 09:38 AM oohh! A meet! We used to have all kinds of sports cars meet together when I was in DC. It was always cool. I'll try my best to be there.
Hey Kewl. I've spent A LOT of time in central FL. I feel your pain. I'll bet your working with Harris right now... ;)
Chakara 02-29-2008, 11:47 PM Damn - not this Saturday - but did you say they meet every Saturday? Nice - glad to see a weekly get together forming in ABQ.
- Chak
Hey MadDog. Yes I'm working with Harris at the Palm Bay plant. Actually, working with them has been good. They don't act so much like the boss. It was damn cold there this last week. Freeze warning were issues for several nights, most unusual for them. That was true even when I was growing up in Daytona.
I missed NMOcho at the gathering this morning. There were indeed some very nice cars there. The Mosler MT900s was there, but to be honest I had no idea what that was...I had never heard of a Mosler. You certainly 'heard' it when it was running, not loud, but what a nice sound!
It was a good morning for the gathering...they plan their meeting times well.
Hopefully the weather will be nice soon and you 8 owners will be able to get together. Right?
MadDog 03-01-2008, 08:04 PM I really wanted to be there, but the wife was planning to make blueberry pancakes this AM. That couldn't be preempted under penalty of death - or worse. ;)
I'll try again next weekend. If we can't get several 8's out there, maybe another Il Vicino night would be good.
T
zeblien 03-24-2008, 07:04 PM Long time no see.
Letting you know another RX8 bit the dust. Some old lady tboned me running a stop sign and smashed in to me. Drove it home, but sure looks sad.
Planning on taking it Crown CoachWorks unless anyone has suggestions.
(cancel that. Taking it to Don Chalmers)
Also, estimated damages are $5175 (includes labor) which is pretty good as far as I am concerned.
zeblien 03-24-2008, 07:37 PM http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc25/zeblien/rx8.jpg
NMOcho 04-01-2008, 02:24 PM Sorry to hear about your wreck and glad you weren't hurt..... That sucks... being in wrecks is no fun.... let me tell ya.... just make sure they check the frame on the car, also they will have to do a 4 wheel alignment on it for sure... If she hit your rear wheel need to have that check as well... Also very important... have them check the floorboard in rear seats for buckling.. I had hit a rock and it went right through the floor of the car.... also the gas tank is accessed by the rear seats so may have to check for damage that way as well. Any hoot... I have only had work done at Quanz on Coors and paseo.. They did great work on my old Sporttrac and they have a rental car company there.. so easy drop off and pickup... Glad that it can be repaired.
FYI.... there is a group of car enthusiasts that meet every Saturday morning at the starbucks on Jefferson between Paseo Del Norte and Harper/Ellison. There is a Hello deli there as well and is on the east side of the street in the Journal area.... Some really nice cars and trucks.... bring your 8. They meet around 8am to 11am is the prime time I would say.. some get their even earlier... If weather is bad then usually no one there...
Sorry I missed ya Fred... I came down with double ear infection and sinus infection that weekend... I'm going to try to sneak over there this saturday, if schedule permits... I will be working out of state from middle of April to Middle of May this year.. so would be my last weekend to hang out there before I leave. Yes the Mosler is good looking car.. Maddog I know the guys there would love to see a turbo 8... I would assume your still the only one with one in the state.
NMOcho 04-03-2008, 06:52 PM Anyone want to buy some slotted/drilled rotors? They are brand New fronts and rears. Also have new braided brake line kit, but they are little long as they are generic and fit many makes models of cars... but would still perform much better than stock rubber... any hoot Value of that stuff is $449.99. I will take 350.00 for the above. I can ship but will be extra. I would prefer to just meet someone in ABQ for the transaction. You can’t find them in town, so my above price is 100 dollars from the true cost and saving you 40+ dollars in shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I still have stock intake minus one screen and have the used Cat/midpipe and Exhaust (8000 miles on exhaust) about 15000 miles on Cat/midpipe. CAT/Midpipe would be good to have as a spare as the dealers can sell you one for 1000+ dollars. At this point stock exhaust is free if someone picks it up in Moriarty (sorry doesn’t fit in corvette). Would like 150.00 for the CAT/Mid pipe and can meet someone in ABQ. Stock intake how about 25.00 dollars... Come on guys.. I know someone needs some parts.. Feel free to check the forum, but think my prices are a steal!!!!!!!!!!
zeblien 04-04-2008, 05:52 PM What is the brand of the rotors?
NMOcho 04-04-2008, 06:34 PM What is the brand of the rotors?
They are from RX7storehttp://www.rx7store.net/RX_8_Brake_Rotors_p/slotteddrilledrotorrx8set.htm
I had a set just like these with the Hawk pads on my car for about a month before it got totalled. Didn't even get to test them on RoadCourse at Sandia. But these are not off my old car, these are brand new in the box. If you check the forum they have great reviews and like I said saving someone about 150.00 dollars. Now if the brake lines (brake lines are from the same store as the rotors) are not ur thing, then I will drop the price to 300, which is just about 85.00 dollars in savings if you count shipping costs. still a hell of a deal..
Zeblien.. hows your car doing? going to probably be in the shop a few weeks huh... thanks for your intrest in the parts.
Tezmac 04-16-2008, 11:06 AM I don't know if this is bad form or not, but I figured it would help in getting some locals to take a look as I'm having to sell my 8.

Not bad form in my mind - actually was over at Mario's yesterday and saw your car with the for sale sign....
Good luck on the sale.....
NMOcho 05-16-2008, 11:11 AM No one interested in my old parts huh? I would prefer to sell them local but I will post them in craigs list and forum here shortly. Need them out of my garage and little cash in the pocket. Hope all is well with everyone. Im going to do my spring Zaino (wax) to the corvette this weekend... Stuff is amazing but takes several hours to do.
UPDATE 300.00 For the Rotors/Brake lines. $100 for Cat/Midpipe and 25.00 for Stock intake. Again free Exhaust if you come to Moriarty to pick it UP.
Candyrx7 05-27-2008, 04:18 PM Hey rx8 crew!!! Hope everyone is doing great. I wanted to stop in here to let you all know that Steve Kan from Gotham Racing is coming out June 7th/8th for tuning. If any of you 8's need tuning let me know or you can read more about him and his tuning including costs on his website www.kantuning.com
I have the full day reserved at Dyno Edge for $500 on the 7th for those who are getting dyno tunes, and street tunes will take place on the 8th.
If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM!!
RedDragonRX8 07-22-2008, 01:33 PM what kind of midpipe are you selling? I live in albuquerque, if your still selling i would be interested in that. PS sorry about your 8 man
NMOcho 07-22-2008, 01:43 PM what kind of midpipe are you selling? I live in albuquerque, if your still selling i would be interested in that. PS sorry about your 8 man
Sorry, I didn't make it clear that it was stock cat/mid pipe I will sell it for 75 dollars. Which is good deal if you need a spare CAT, they are known to go out on these cars and cost an arm and leg.
Not sure if your interested but I will sell the new rotors mentioned for 225.00 to local 8 driver. That is half price! Can get more on ebay, but shipping is a pain and tired of them in my garage.
Thanks for asking. Just let me know if you want pics.
crucesrx8 08-23-2008, 08:53 PM Hey guys and gals, im from las cruces. You should let me know when your all going to meet up, and ill go too
NMOcho 10-21-2008, 12:32 PM I will try again :wavey:
Anyone want to buy some slotted/drilled rotors? They are brand New fronts and rears. Also have new braided brake line kit, but they are little long as they are generic and fit many makes models of cars... but would still perform much better than stock rubber... any hoot Value of that stuff is $449.99. I will take 200.00 for the above. You can’t find them in town, so my above price is 249.99 dollars from the true cost and saving you 40+ dollars in shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point stock exhaust is free if someone picks it up in Moriarty. Would like 50.00 for the CAT/Mid pipe and can meet someone in ABQ. Stock intake how about 10.00 dollars... Come on guys.. I know someone needs some parts.. Feel free to check the forum, but think my prices are a steal!!!!!!!!!!

Try stock(1970) rims for a 70 Chevelle, bent both on pothole in TX. Sorry to hear that. Hey guys anything coming up for ABQ?
NiNjA99 11-15-2008, 12:10 AM hey crucesrx8,
I see about 2 or 3 RX8s a day here in Cruces, but you're the first person from Cruces I've actually seen on here!
FarSide792 02-04-2009, 07:06 PM You know....I never saw a single RED rx8 here in Cruces until i went out and bought an '09....lol...now there are a couple that I see driving around...anything exciting rx8-related ever happen out here in this $hit hole town?
txag98 02-05-2009, 12:37 PM Hey Ocho, Kewl, Stinger... any of you guys still around?
I'm still here, but I don't check in very often, and I still keep an eye out for 8's around town. It seems of late I am seeing lots more then I ever did when I had mine. I do miss the 8...

Miss seeing you around here as well Kewl!!
Hey Ocho, Kewl, Stinger... any of you guys still around?
Yeah I am still around. It has just been so quite in here of late that I would hate to be posting to myself. The worst thing would be is if I started to reply to myself.
I didn't see any posts on the AutoX last summer...do they still hold them?
stinger, how has that new engine been behaving? I see for the 09's they have made numerous changes to the engine...it would interesting to know more about what these changes were done to correct/improve.
remember, sometimes your own replies are the best ones...
....good to hear from you, hope all is going well.
Chakara 02-10-2009, 10:33 PM The church AutoX still happened last year, just moved to a different church. I only made it a few times and was always the only 8. Guess that is my fault for not posting it. Anyway...GO NM RX8!
fritschep 02-18-2009, 03:19 PM anyone in the silver city area? there are four 8's up here including me
NMOcho 03-06-2009, 05:20 PM Hi All,
I'm still around check into the forum once a month or so. I sold all my toys and just in a boring ford Focus, must say I love my 38+ mpg and sync software... will look for a new toy next year or so once this economy figures out what its going to do. I still have some RX-8 parts for dirt cheap. Posted them in craigs and in prior treads. I do miss the old days of the car crew...
Alison and I are getting married next year. So I thank my RX-8 for getting to meet a wonderful lady. ha-ha.. who would a thought a car could actually do that.
NMOcho with your drive to work you can't beat 38+...at least the cost of gas is down from last year....thank god...
Congratulations to you and Alison...
NMShinka 04-03-2009, 01:52 PM Any recommendations on where is the best value in ABQ for tires for my 8? I'll also check the Tire Rack just for comparison. Thanks for any assistance.
I got my Pirelli P-Zero Nero's at Discount Tire. They weren't the cheapest tires, nor was Discount Tire likely the cheapest price in town, but I felt they were the best value...free repairs/rotations and there are lots of stores around, here and the country, so getting service was/is easier then many places.
NMShinka what tires and size are you thinking of putting on your 8?
NMShinka 04-07-2009, 06:41 AM NMShinka what tires and size are you thinking of putting on your 8?
I'll just stick with the original 225/45-18 Tire Rack has the best price as expected, but it's a bit of a hassle getting them mounted.
NMOcho 04-08-2009, 06:37 PM Any recommendations on where is the best value in ABQ for tires for my 8? I'll also check the Tire Rack just for comparison. Thanks for any assistance.
I loved my KDW/2 245's . They are wider than stock and I thought they provided a much better ride, traction. Discount tire is place I go. Costco/Sams have great deals as well. Advantage to them is if your traveling and have issue with your tire they all can do the warranty work for you.
Just set up a tire package on Discount Tires website and when you call they should be able to beat it by a 100.00 by phone.
Happy tire hunting.
I agree with NMOcho...go with the 245, the ride is better all around and they look better on the car. I also agree with Discount Tire...although Costco and Sams are good too, I've gotten tires there for the truck, I found there are more Discount Tires around then either Costco or Sams however.
NMOcho 04-28-2009, 03:47 PM Hey 8 OWNERs I still have those sweet NEW racing rotors for a steal 175.00 dollars.... any takers...??? Just call around and try to find even stock rotors for your car. I'm lazy and really don't feel like shipping them out of state. But it may come to that after a year of trying to sell these damn things. LOL Justin...

Sorry to say not much of a active local group for 8's. Most of us here chatting like myself no longer own one. I didn't know Rotary RX closed doors, bummer was fun place to hangout. I would say register in the Rx-7 club and talk to the locals there to find out who is best other than dealer to get work. I miss my 8 and glad your engjoying! Take a run to top of the sandias and back to really appreciate it.
If you need a nice set of Slotted/Drilled rotors I'm selling new ones for a steal at 175.00. Stinger hasn't taken them yet. LOL so still there for the taking. The are easy to install, just be sure to put new brake pads on them.
Justin
Sorry to hear about Rotary RX, but Justin has the right idea, get on the rx7 forums. It is rather sad that most of those on the forum here are former 8 owners.
Justin maybe you should keep those 8 parts, you might find a good deal on another 8 and can use them yourself...just joking. I still have my excess 8 parts...and maintenance manuals...y5ou just never know...
Trick...good luck with your 8...if all else fails with questions check in here and Justin or I will try to help.
royce 05-27-2009, 07:58 PM Just got my 8, love it and am looking for some more 8 owners to maybe go for a cruise soon, i am new to the area and have allot to learn especially about these awesome rotaries and the area please shoot me a reply or whatever.:uhh:
royce, congratulations on the 8...you will find it is a remarkable vehicle. There are some really nice roads for driving the 8, but be careful...they tend to patrol some of the best roads
Good luck hooking up with other 8 owners...there are lots around, but not many on the forum. Sadly since several of us who started the forums have now lost, or sold our 8s. If you can stand the tire wear consider attending a track day at the sandia raceway...find an instructor first who will spend time with you at the track. You will really enjoy a day on the track.
zeblien 06-17-2009, 06:59 PM Hello if anyone remembers me.
I am no longer an owner and free from Mazda forever.
I do have left overs I am selling however if anyone wants to by my "I miss my RX8" package.
Factory spare unused | Credit Key FOB | 2 cabin filters | 1 bra | all weather mats | one oil | One Radiator coolant additive | 1 Rx8 sun shield | Wind deflector for sun roof | ... I think thats it.
I would like to grab $400 for it all.

Congrats on the new car. They are extremely fun to drive and I met my future wife with my old 8.
I have 4 slotted/drilled rotors for your car, brand new for dirt cheap $175.00.
I had similiar set on my 8 and it really helped the looks and less fading of breaks in autocross. I also had painted my calipers when I did the swap, which wasn't to hard. I didn't it the lazy man way (left brake line on) and they still came out looking great. Had some cool RX-8 decals on them too. I have some other parts from my 04 as well, so if you interested let me know.
Tricknology 07-12-2009, 12:30 AM Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I've been a bit busy and my computer died. NMOcho, I may just take you up on the offer of slotted rotors. I should know for sure by next week some time.

NMOcho 09-13-2009, 02:29 PM Update price on the rotors that I'm selling just 150.00.
Z Phi 09-18-2009, 05:00 AM Hey guys!! Just got my 8 a lil' over 2 weeks ago, am new to rotaries, and stationed out here at Cannon AFB (Clovis). Not too many 8's around here (I've literally counted 3 including myself). Whenever there's a meet or event going on, I will gladly drive to where ever it is. I love to travel!! :mdrmed:
fritschep 10-02-2009, 10:57 PM Hey NMOcho you still have the brake rotors for 150? you said all 4 and new. what other 04 parts do you have are you parting the eight out?
fritschep 10-02-2009, 10:59 PM oh and any one near the Silver City area for being a small town i know there is at least 5 or 6 here. my car is lonely and needs another to talk to
NMOcho 10-07-2009, 02:49 PM Hey NMOcho you still have the brake rotors for 150? you said all 4 and new. what other 04 parts do you have are you parting the eight out?
I sure do! They are brand New! slotted and drilled. You would be lucky to replace two stock rotors for that price. Just drop me a message or check craigslist where I have them advertised. I haven't sold them for higher on EBAY as shipping costs would be crazy high with their weight. So was trying to hook up a fellow 8 fan with good deal.
I got a stock exhaust, stock mid pipe, but the O2 Senser is not on it. I have stock intake parts, minus one screen. Oh and one new fog light and turn signal switch.
If I still had my 8 I would totally be down for a drive. It's a shame that the 8's are not organized in NM. I know the Rx-7 Crew are fun to hang out with. But the 8's are not tune friendly like the 7's. I see a lot of 8's in ABQ, but most are not car club hangout types. I saw black one at the top of the sandia crest that had lot of body mods, rims etc. Not sure engine items, just saw the car.
Bluedevil04 11-01-2009, 09:59 PM Hey Z Phi...I am one of those few eights in Clovis...If you ever wanna meet up or go for a drive..pm me
redrxdevil 11-11-2009, 09:07 AM What's going on Z Phi and Bluedevil04, I'm one of the other rx-8's rolling around the base and Clovis. Red with black rims. Good to see the rx community is out in little Clovis NM.
SnareJPG 11-12-2009, 03:55 PM Ive only seen one other modified 8 in Cruces, murdered out evil Rx-8 lol.
Im the Silver rx8 GT with smoked lights, black emblems, and black w/ red striped tenzo R's.
Anyone pass through Las Cruces much?
Bluedevil04 11-14-2009, 12:28 PM Yea I see you all the time redrxdevil parked out in front of the 16...nice car...
redrxdevil 11-15-2009, 03:14 PM Thanks bluedevil04. It's a work in progress and you know how that goes you're never really done, there is always somethings else you want to upgrade. Do own the RX-8 with the aftermarket front bumper? (NICE!) That's the only blue RX-8 I've seen.
Bluedevil04 11-16-2009, 06:39 PM Yea thats me!! thanks.....there is another blue one that i see from time to time...are you with the 16th?
Z Phi 11-17-2009, 02:38 AM Redrxdevil I've seen your car also. It's pretty nice ride, and those rims are on point. Bluedevil04 yours is nice too. Mine is a dark gray one, still completely stock, but slowly but surely it'll be the ride I want it to be. Mine's usually at the gym or at the Fuels building. If you guys ever decide to ride let me know. I'm always down for it.
redrxdevil 11-18-2009, 10:41 AM Thanks Z Phi I bought them on Ebay, very cheap Approx. $375 for the set. I haven't seen your gray RX-8 yet, I see Bluedevil04's, and a red 2009 all the time on base. Yeah Bluedevil04 I work out at the 16th, I PCS'd in from Florida about 3 months ago, and boy what a change this place is! My schedule is crazy lately, I've been on 3 different shifts in 3 weeks, when things calm down a little, maybe I'll have the time to go for a ride with you'll.

Damn good question. Only a few months left on my warranty so I'll be looking for one too. Since RotaryRX closed here in town I don't know who works on our cars and knows what they are doing....

You might want to check with the local rx-7 club members as they were a strong mechanical group. But since rotaryrx shut down it left only dealer. But since I don't have my 8 I have lost contact with most. Good luck!
The best hope might a recommendation from Soren. Soren is the gentlemen that hosted our race day/instruction at the Sandia racetrack...yes NMOcho I know you didn't want to hear that and I don't blame you. Soren is mostly a Miata mechanic, but he might have some ideas for places to go for the 8 in case he doesn't yet work on them. Soren does work on cars other than Miata...
I'll call him tomorrow to see is he can offer up some suggestions. I'll let you know what he has to say.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their 8. I miss mine.
NiNjA99 07-04-2010, 07:18 PM Hey guys I haven't had my 8 for a while now, but I was wondering if anyone on here has any good recommendations for a tint shop in the Albuquerque area.

Thanks! My 8 was tinted in Albuquerque and the shop didn't do the greatest job so I thought i'd ask around first this time.
rvearl 07-09-2010, 07:13 AM For a year or so I'd been searching the internet for an affordable (i.e., used), "sporty" ride (after years of SUVs and pickup trucks). I was originally drawn to a Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Skye. Then I saw an RX-8 parked where I work, and fell in love with it immediately. When I read the reviews about how elegant and meticulous the RX engineering is compared to the cheap, shabby engineering of the GM products, my mind was made up. My attention focused on the RX-8, and did I ever get lucky! On Saturday night before Memorial Day I found a 2005 GT at a dealership (Burton Motors) with only 22,000 miles on it! Nah, too good to be true. Still . . . . I took a chance and spent $35 for a CarFax report. The car came back clean as a whistle: no wrecks, no repairs, all suggested maintenance timely done at a dealership. It was all I could do to wait until 10:00 on Sunday (when I figured Burton would be open) to take a look at this car. Damn. They were closed on Sunday. But they were open on Monday, and told me to take the car out for as long as I wanted. I drove down to 2nd St., found a shady spot in an empty lot, and spent about an hour checking the car out. Everything worked! I mean everything! Then I drove to Bernalillo the back way (decent road, no cops) passing everything in sight. When I returned to the dealership I immediately plunked down an earnest money deposit. Two days later the car was mine! This silver bullet is immaculate: no dings or dents, no chipped paint, no blemishes of any kind. With only 22K miles, it's almost a brand new car. I won't say what I paid for it, because if I do y'all will hate me.
Jbritt 08-05-2010, 10:00 PM I had a quick question for the NM guys, specifically the Albuquerque guys. I am going to be interviewing for a job at Sandia National Labs and wanted to know how the 8 scene is the area.
corycampbell 08-10-2010, 10:20 AM Hey dudes, I'm thinking of doing a cars and coffee type event maybe once or twice a month. I'm thinking third Sunday of the month (which would be the 22nd this month) at 6:00pm at the Satellite coffee on Alameda by Corrales. Anyone interested?
Chakara 08-13-2010, 08:47 PM the guys over at RX7club have been trying to set something like this up as well with limited success. Maybe join forces?
-Chak
corycampbell 08-14-2010, 01:20 PM Yes, Lets join forces. Im sort of new to town so I don't really know anybody around here.
I need to change the date to the 29th due to a birthday BBQ my wife is throwing me on the 22nd. I will be out there at around 6:00 if anyone wants to join. Mine is the bright yellow one. Can't miss it:)
Seems like everyone talks about getting together on these sites but no one actually does.
Normality_Glitch 09-29-2010, 01:49 AM I would really love to get a group thing going as well. I just moved to Albuquerque a few weeks ago. I've been highly involved in other rotary groups in the past (all Rx7's) and there seems to be a very large amount of 8's running around here as well as a few Rx7's. I'm down to do anything to get things worked out. Even if that means starting off as just a couple to few people until it escalates into a much larger crowd.

I’m getting the word out to any members of neighboring cities that would be interested in getting their cars tuned by one of the Premier Rotary tuners in the country. Date is still tentative but we’ve already been in contact w/ Steve and everything should be finalized within a couple weeks. If anyone here would be interested in this, please send me a pm or post up and Ill answer any of your questions to the best of my ability. Below is a link to Steve’s website:

Thank you for reading and hope to have some of you come out w/ us to get your own cars tuned!!!!!
redrxdevil 11-24-2010, 08:07 PM To all Rx8 owners in the Clovis NM area, be on the look out for NM State troopers out to stick it to US military members. Got popped for a $70 ticket for smoked corners and taillights, also got a warning on my front windshield tent (which was done in Fl. and was legal there)
corycampbell 03-07-2011, 09:58 PM Dudes, there is a cars and coffee going on here in town that would be cool to get some RX8's out to. I usually go with my RX8, its bright yellow, cant miss it. There are about 20 to 25 cars that show up every week. Including a sweet mosler some GT-Rs porsches and a lot of corvettes and other random stuff like NSXs and STIs

There are about 20 to 25 cars that show up every week. Including a sweet mosler some GT-Rs porsches and a lot of corvettes and other random stuff like NSXs and STIs

Sorry, I forgot to tell you where it is. Its at the shopping center on jefferson by the journal center. The one with the starbucks and the dos hermanos and twisters in it.
Pyrocytor 06-05-2011, 08:55 PM Hey I'm from Alamogordo but go to college in Socorro. Anyways I'm thinking about getting an rx-8. I know almost nothing about cars but I want to know everything haha. So, if anyone has any advice just send it my way.
Thanks
Know that the RX8 is a rotary engine and they require a different approach and understanding of how to use them correctly. Check oil levels, they use oil on purpose...not much mind you, but you do need to watch that. Warm up the engine on first start from cold engine...don't start cold and shut down cold... The engine likes (some say requires) high revs often...very often. Pick manual trans over automatic. Gas mileage will NOT be good. If you are very careful you might get 19 mpg (city) if you are lucky. Oil changes are a pain...unless you are careful in removing the filter you can get oil all over the engine which will stink if you don't clean up afterwards...and I mean a careful cleaning.
The car handles like nothing you have likely ever driven and is a blast to drive. And last....read as many post on this forum as you can before you actually buy one. They are a different beast, but can be and are a wonderful car with proper care and feeding.
Good Luck

anyone? anyone at all?
Well Mikey I guess we have to assume that you mean carbon build up in the engine. That is admittedly a common concern. I don't know of anyone who has had the issue to the point of needing attention from the repair shop. As you will read in the forum, here and elsewhere, we usually avoided any carbon build up by running the engine to red line often.
You might want to search out the technical areas of the forum to see how and if anyone has addressed this shop cleaning issue themselves. I know I have never read anything on it, but then again I was never looked for it either.
Good Luck
MikeyRedx8 06-16-2011, 04:46 PM next question anyone in alb wanna meet up? lol love my rx8 and everyone elses

Thanks in advance and happy fourth!
Horizon Auto Glass and Tint on Menaul and Wyoming does great work. I have had about 8 vehicles done by them.

Thanks for the recommendation. I wanted to take my Evo to the Tint and Trim factory, unfortunately, those folks are open the same hours I work and are off the same days I am off. I ended up taking my car and my wifes car to Lomas Glass and Tint. They did a good job on both cars, much better than the shop that tinted my 8.

Anyways, just moved to NM a few months ago, over at Kirtland air force base in Albuquerque.
