View Full Version : Dyno'ed the Rx8 today. Impressive results for what it is!
dancap 09-13-2008, 06:08 PM Today Crazy Horse Racing in South Amboy, NJ had a Dyno day. There was a pretty big crowd there, and for 3 pulls, and a printout its 50% off org. cost of 100, so your paying 50! Not bad.
*Keep In mind it was near 90 degrees F. and humid today, and was probably 5+ degrees hotter in the garage where the dyno was. My car actually overheated on the third pull. The coolant was boiling over a bit, but as soon as i pulled it out of the garage, and a test run down the street to cool it off, everything went back to normal. Maybe I could of pulled 200whp if the temp. was around 60-70F, regardless i'm satisfied for now!*
For the mods i have:
1. Turboxs headers back exhaust (no cats).. small exhaust leak somewhere, I need to purchase a new set of gaskets. Not a big deal.
2. Aem Cold Air Intake
3. Agency Power Underdriven crank pulley
No tune, as of yet. Access port soon, then another dyno, then turbo, then the finally dyno and tune..
My best: Max rwHP was 192.3 & Max Torque was 135.5

expo1 09-13-2008, 07:21 PM when are they having their next dyno day?
fahrfegneugen 09-13-2008, 08:20 PM Wow that is pretty dang good. Nice.

randomly, us at Local Scene schedule a date with the owner, so next time i'll post a date on the site so we can all meet up there.
The owner also is the director of the road course in englishtown, and were looking for thirty people, to chip and and rent out the course for the whole day. Its 3,500, you get 2 ambulances, and an instructor, and max of 30 cars can be there.
Razz1 09-14-2008, 02:29 PM good number, but I'm concerned that your car over heated.

well, it was 100f. inside the small garage and if you look in front of the car they were using the smaller fan, and it was mounted higher, so with our v-mounted rads, it was practically getting no air to cool it off. they should of been using the fan to the left in the picture.
KpaBap 09-16-2008, 02:15 PM Why are there so many HUGE dips in the power curve?
cjkim 09-16-2008, 02:36 PM if youre looking at the torque curve, look at the scale.. 95-140
KpaBap 09-17-2008, 11:29 AM I'm talking about the 20 ft-lb dip at around 4000 rpm, then a 25 ft-lb dip at 6250rpm and then a MASSIVE 50 lb-ft drop at 7250.
I know the intake runners open up but 40-50lb-ft power loss is a bit much...just wondering if that's normal.
Brettus 09-17-2008, 04:06 PM Looks a bit more than others I've seen but the torque scaling is triple what most dynos show which amplifies the dips. Have a look in the 'dyno' thread and you will see plenty more very similar dynos .

youre looking at the wrong side.
that "massive 50 lb-ft drop" is actually more like 15
04RX8man 09-18-2008, 09:50 PM nice nice.....

exactly, tQ is to the right. it's not much of a drop, it's just the way its scaled out.

How far is it to NYC?
just wondering
cuz if its close enough (like 1-2 hour drive is ok I guess), then I might be able to sign up next time :)
