hi, As I've said in my first post i'm new to the rotary engine as well to manual driving. What a way to start? guess I'll never have the privledge to enjoy a average manual vehicle huh?:lol2: anyway, when i shift from first to second and not as often but to second - third i hear this screatch noise. not so much a screach as a unexplainable not loud but hearable (short highpitch"erreeaarrrr") coming from the engine. I'm sorry for my inability to put a similie to this sound but i just can't explain it, is this a normal sound? my brother who taught me how to drive manual drives a mazdaspeed 3 and he says he hasn't heard it before in his, he also says the shifter is very "clunky" quote-unquote. On the side of that i've noticed only when i first start the engine when i take my foot off the clutch the engine makes this noise and when i push the clutch in it goes away and after driving it for a while i don't hear that sound anymore. is all of this normal? or if not; familiar to any of you? thanks for any help and advice in advance!

that sound your are talking about when the car is in neutral is the throw out bearing and its normal. As far as the shifting noise, are you sure your pushing the clutch in all the way?

absolutely positive, it's strange. I have to take the car to my mazda dealership anyway to get my plate frame so i'll definetely have them look in to it
