Went to Downtown Mazda to get winter rims and snows pu on. While there they showed me winter mats cut for the 8. I don't think this is on the accessories list. The mats are not the pant-saver type but just with a sortof wankel motif. They do, however, stay in place due to their stiffness which is more than I can say for the summer mats.

I bought the Mazda accessory RX-8 winter mats back in July, shortly after taking delivery of my car. Since then, I heard here on the forum (early October?) that Mazda had withdrawn the mats, something about problems with the driver's mat fouling the clutch pedal.
I installed my winter mats 3 weeks ago. The rubber nibs on the back side are deeper than the stock mats, so they stay in place very well. For a week, I had no problems, then the clutch pedal started to catch ever so slightly on the front/top edge of the driver's mat. I just took a knife, cut a 1" radius half-circle from the top of the mat where the clutch pedal was catching it, and it's perfect now.

Gordon

Thanks. I've noticed the catching already.

Mine also catches the clutch pedal... haven't had time yet to trim it yet.

Does everyone have the centre peg to hold the mats? Just checking since my winter mats are fine, no catching at all.
I have the winter mats down over the regular mats. Doubt that makes a difference but you never know.

My mat catches the clutch and it does have the hole, my summer mats have been removed. I have noticed that the mat has not been catching the last couple of days, maybe they are worn down now?
