Ok so i've looked at a few threads regarding the conversion kits and am curious about the experiences any of you guys have had. I've read about people using these:

Is it worth it to spend nearly 300 bucks on a kit or is that extremely over priced? Not to mention ebay has tons of kits listed for hella cheap, but I would like to think that those SUPER cheap kits will end up blowing up your car in a matter of hours (not serious). Can anybody help?

not worth it. we already have HIDs...

if you want a different light color, isnt it possible to just change the bulb anyway?

There all the same thing, they're all made in china, just a way to trick people. I dont think Hella makes HID "conversion kits", and theres no such company called MTEC in japan either. Theyre both knockoffs.

If you dont really care about quality and light output and oncoming traffic, then I'll just go with the cheap ones on ebay, around 50bucks.

I'd invest in a used OEM ballasts and bulbs. I just got my used Lexus ballasts last week from a guy on ebay, got my H7 wire harness also from ebay, and a H7 bulb adaptor, I'm just hunting for the right true HID bulb, philips or osram d4s.

not sure how well it'll go but I'm sure it'll look better than the false hids.

heres a link useful link about fake HIDs http://www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=448

just get headlights from a rx8 that came with them... that way you dont blind oncoming traffic with all the glare you will be putting out with those conversions.

there wont be any more glare than normal. the rx8 has a projector, projectors have a cut off.. the only difference between the hid and non hid housings is the design of the cut off.

I know someone that had a base model and got the headlight and ballast off ebay. with splicing and etc he was able to make it work. only thing was there was no autoleveling.

i'd recommend going on ebay to find the oem HID headlight housing that already has the ballast built in. you are free to choose whatever color temprature you may want if the oem bulbs dont come with the headlights.
