Anyone else, or am I uniquely or rarely afflicted with the inclination to view most Mercs as overdone, overwrung, bling bling, tacky exterior designs?

I agree on 1 and 3. I like the aggressive look of 2, to be honest.

Then there's the SL65 Black, which I probably like way more than anyone should.

i may not be a fan of all mbz designs, but i definitely like a good few of them.

i hated the old c-class, e-class, s-class. The new c-class is sexy. the new s-class is sexy. the e-class has grown a little on me, but still don't like it.
as for the cl, it has it's place. don't like the looks of the sl much, although the new black series one is insanely hot. the clk is sleek, the slk is a nice convertible, the cls is usually hit or miss with most people, and... i forget what else merc has.
but if i had the money, the only classes i would buy are the c-class, s65, sl black series, and clk black series.

EDIT: o yes and their SUV's are ugly. the G class especially followed by the GL and then the M class. Also, the R-Class is the single worst automotive mistake Mercedes could have made.

the sl65 is sex. i always drool over the Offical F1 pace car. each f1 race, i always pray for a full caution yellow. so i can drool over the screen. :P

MB make some of the best looking cars on the road IMO.

I think it's an SL63 they use as pace car.

Speaking of F1 safety cars, I think if I had to have a wagon, it would be the C63 wagon. I saw them at the Montreal F1 race and they sound redonkulous!!

I don't like the look of their basic everyday model E, S, and C class models. But they have a few sexy high end models that look amazing.

Some look pretty sick, yet some are just boring, old people cars.

Finally someone besides me not blinded or biased by that 3 point star. Youre right, all the cars are hideous and there's not one I would drive even if given to me. The only two exceptions, the only two non-eyesores are the ml and gl, other than those, I'd pass.

New C-class and SLKs are good looking car. Certainly better than the BMW equivalents. MBs are doing away with the roundy eggs on a pan look which is great.

I've always been a fan of Mercedes design. Granted some models are a little boring. But most are very appealing.

Totally agree for the most part . Some of them look good but on a whole I think theirs designs suck big time .

I don't consider myself a benz guy at all, but I think most of their new designs are pretty amazing.

i liked the early 2000's model CL600 and hardtop CLK55....understated..elegant...powerful...and still built decently

RotoRocket hey your entitled to your opinion. I for one like what MB is kicking out these days. Pre '95 MB were hideous to me, now MB has been cranking out very bold designs lately.

All my life I always like what BMW did over M-B styling wise (or otherwise), but recently I think M-B has the better looking cars. The AMG/Black series cars look especially good as I'm always a sucker for the over aggressive, flared-fender, strong crisp character lines, etc. I've always liked German styling as most cars from most of the German companies seem to be timeless - still looking good decades later with nice proportions. BMW has strayed IMO where M-B has really tightened up their look lately. Audi's (and most VW's) have always looked really good to me if not a bit conservative and can't usually find anything stylistic-wise that really bothers me with any of the models. I can't say the same for BMW any more though I don't think they look bad, but just think the late 60's through late 90's designs looked much better.

I love the new C-Class.

The CLS55 AMG is sex bro. same with the C63AMG. all AMG cars are nut busters.... My next car WILL be the C63AMG.

I completely disagree with the OP. I actually love the lines on most Mercedes and I'll take the MB interior over a BMW's in a heartbeat.
