went out for a drive in the 8 yesterday. got into it started it up and the stearing wheel juddered from left to right for a few seconds then stopped. i turned the car of and started it again, the juddering stopped but the power stearing isn't working any more and the power stearing warning light came on. any one have any idea what my problem could be? and is it a common fault? first real problem with the car so far.

thanks, Shane

Since the power steering is electric I would check for blown fuses / relays and loose connectors. Hit any object in the road recently?

Anybody tried to search for this since its been discussed many times before? :icon_no2:
The two days it took you to repost, you could have clicked on the 'search' drop-down at the top and simply typed "power steering"

With what you mentioned about the wheel juddering to the left and right, you might be better off just taking it to the dealer if its still under warranty.
I've been involved with the whole power steering lose many time, but never had my wheel judder left and right just after starting the car.
Makes me think it could be the EPS control module.

Couldn't hurt. There is a EPS 60A fuse.
The control unit is running off the ignition relay which would affect other devices, so it shouldn't be that.

I bet 5 bux its the Connector, located Right underneath the coolant overflow hose.

Have you seen this symptom (wheel juddering) that resulted in that connector being the culprit?
$5 can buy a couple beers at a bar... I'll take you up on that! :beerchug:

yep,

and most of the time the connector needs to be deleted and soldered into place..

btw, a tsb is out for the connector..
