View Full Version : So the re-wiring job we did...
Thief 07-02-2008, 01:35 AM Andrew, Neo, Faded... remember the rewiring job we had to do after ripping the neons out? Yeah.... just realized today that the cruise control doesn't work.
Unless it's because of the CEL.
Footman 07-02-2008, 07:38 AM we'll need the wiring schematic for the cruise control circuitry to figure that out. I suspect that it has to do with the wiring in the steering wheel that we did possibly. But at this point, we shouldn't be guessing. We'll need that wiring schematic. Anyone have a copy of that page from the Rx-8 technical repair manual?
Footman is correct.
If it's not the actual mechanism under the hood, it'll probably be the wiring job near the steering wheel.
The previous owner really screwed around with the wiring in that poor car!
Damn ricers!
Footman 07-02-2008, 01:04 PM Thief, if you can obtain a copy of the cruise control circuitry, I will help you.
TurboEight 07-02-2008, 01:39 PM no one has the repair manual for the 8?
climacus 07-02-2008, 06:01 PM no one has the repair manual for the 8?

TurboEight 07-02-2008, 10:36 PM they came out with a 2003 model?
Agent008 07-02-2008, 10:48 PM The 2004 model showed up in late 2003. Most went to the people that pre-ordered.
Spring 2004 is when most of the 2004's were sold. That's when I got mine :-) Mine was build around my 30th birthday, Oct 2003.
Thief 07-03-2008, 07:02 PM I went through a few links and broken files before getting this page. It has all the pdfs and they work!

Footman 07-03-2008, 08:47 PM Before you do anything Thief, tell us more about your "cruise control inoperative". Did you press the button and saw no light come on and then just assumed it wasn't working? Did you attempt to press the Cruise on, and then proceed to press the "Set" button to see if it actually works?
This would rule out the LED behind the cruise light is not burnt. If this isn't the case and the Cruise control is not functioning, then read ahead.
From that link...
Under 4Enginecontrol.pdf, page 248 talks about P0564 Cruise control switch malfunction.
First see if you have P0564 code or not. If the switch is malfunctioning, you should get a P0564 when you pull the code out. If so, then proceed with page 248 diagnostic instructions to check things out.
Thief 07-03-2008, 08:59 PM This is what I was thinking at the time.
*press Cruise On button*
Weird... the light didn't come on...
*press Set*
*press Resume*
*let go of gas*
WTF? It isn't working.
*repeat*
Huh... it really isn't working
*press Cancel about 5 times*
*press various combinations of On/Set/Resume*
Shit it really isn't working. I don't think the CEL affects it... better let the guys know.
Footman 07-03-2008, 09:09 PM P0564 will not give a CEL, so you will get no warning until you read the codes.
Thief 07-03-2008, 09:54 PM I'm pretty sure the CEL is still related to the MAF. Last time I had it checked by Jay it definitely was, and the car still occasionally shows the same symptoms.
REV-illusions 07-03-2008, 10:42 PM I'm pretty sure the CEL is still related to the MAF. Last time I had it checked by Jay it definitely was, and the car still occasionally shows the same symptoms.

Footman 07-04-2008, 08:25 AM I didn't say anything about the CEL and the MAF.. I thought this thread is talkinga bout the cruise control?
