This may seem like a bizarre question to ask but has anyone else experienced the above problem.

I got back from Hols on tuesday this week and had new car delivered the same day. In the last 2 days i have done 450 miles and I can hardly walk due to the pain in my right foot. i have not done anything strenuous except drive the car on the Motorway then rest.
I had a 325ci before - could it be that my aching foot is caused by the different pedal positions that i am not yet accustomed too? The BMW had the accelerator pedel fixed to the floor where as the Mazda pedal "hangs" could this really be the problem and what can I do to help ease the pain?
Any other new owners share my problem.

How tall are you ?
I am 6'3" and my legs end up bent a bit funny and gets awkward.
Same with any other car though to be fair....

You might have the same problem as this fellow, and myself. It has helped my driving considerable doing as shown here (I did mine differently, but same result*)

* just cut some thick rubber, then taped it on the old pedal. If I stay happy, I'll make it more permanent.

Interesting thread but i don't think it is a height/length of leg issue as I am very mr Average 5ft 9?

Well, I too am Mr. US Average (in height only!) at 5'8". I didn't have any pain in the foot, just uncomfortable behind the wheel.

Me and the missus found the pedals offset to the right on a - she's 5'5" and found it a little uncomfortable (on the test drive). Are the footwells mirror images ? Maybe it's not so offset as a LHD?

At 6' 2" I don't have this problem. Sounds a bit strange though.

Thinking of buying an 8. When I sat in one I noticed the rather offset pedals compared to my S2000.
So may be it is due to that. But I used to have a French car and that had majorly offset pedals but I coped Ok due to the high up driving positon.

However, when I first had my S2000, I started to get a bit of pain in my right leg - not when I was driving but sometime in the evenings. I played around with the seat position to get a better posture and have been fine ever since apart from when the car gets serviced and the seat has been moved. It takes a while to find the best position again. I find that I have to put the seat forward and recline the back a bit to get the best position for my leg.

Best advice would be to talk to a posture expert as you may have a mild case of RSI. Someone needs to examine your driving position. You certainly don't want to ignore this.
