TiTaniumRX8 11-17-2003, 06:48 PM this is all kinda just dinkering around... the only races ive had have been "un-official" When i Dropped at 8 i burned out for about a quarter of a second, barely moving.... i didnt really like dropin at 8. AlexCisneros 12-03-2003, 11:53 AM Drop around 6200 this will open the other port and put it in the sweet spot. If you are on the stock tires expect wheel spin. yes it's like a VTEC in a Honda ...only better Omicron 12-03-2003, 06:39 PM Best times I've heard about were with a drop at 7500 or so, TCS off. george thomas 12-03-2003, 06:46 PM Australian "Motor " magazine dropped the clutch at 6000 rpm and achieved official 14.8 sec quarter mile times . This was with driver AND passenger and 3/4 tank of gas. Efini 8 12-04-2003, 08:32 PM Originally posted by Omicron Best times I've heard about were with a drop at 7500 or so, TCS off. do you mean DSC? Omicron 12-26-2003, 01:43 AM No, I meant TCS. DSC is turned of with 1 quick press of the disable switch, TCS is disabled when you hold that same switch down long enough (about 5 seconds or so) to get the car-with-squiggly-lines light to come on permanently. Judge Ito 12-26-2003, 05:36 PM I would suggest you find your own sweet spot in releasing the clutch. All you need to remember is that, this is a Naturally aspirated engine and it makes all horsepower and torque at high rpms. The trick is to run enough tire pressure to get a good launch but not so low of a tire pressure that you could granade parts. A good burnout is a must. You need to warm up the tires a bit. Tire pressure could start at 20psi and go up or down depending on the amount of tire spin the car goes into after the launch. you need to study every single launch so you could carefully improve the cars launching abilities. 60 foot times is very critical for a 14 second Elapse Time. Hymee 12-26-2003, 07:16 PM I have been going at about 6. I have been able to keep it at about 6 until it is hooked up fully, then there is still 3000+ RPM of the power band still to use. I might need to go a bit higher to ensure the 6250 threshold. So what are y'all getting for your best 60' times? I got a 2.1 I would like to see someone crack a 2 flat or even a high 1.99 :) Cheers, Hymee. TiTaniumRX8 01-06-2004, 11:45 PM YEA!!!!!! haha, dropped around 63ish (maybe a lil higher ~ 65). guy at the end w/ the stopwatch said i got around a 14.9 ( maybe SOONER or lata since he's not a computer). all i can say is this fealt alot betta, thanks guys! TCS??? i read nothin bout that in the manual.... i'll give that a try soon. whats the diff w/ that and DSC??? - How is this bettar? RX-jimenez 01-16-2004, 12:23 AM I found this, someone know if is true that gives you 20 hpbw ?? they told me i did not need to upgrade my clucth for this Flywheel..http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/mazda_rx8.html XeRo 01-16-2004, 09:38 AM watch out gear box...keep launching at 7000-8000 and you'll be grenading your gear box soon.... Hymee...you WON'T see anybody getting coming close to a flat 2 in the 60' anytime soon, or better nowhere NEAR a 1.9....unless you mod AND fix the flimsy gear box ,the only thing you'll see flying that fast are your tranny parts.... Lawerence 01-16-2004, 10:11 AM Originally posted by RX-jimenez I found this, someone know if is true that gives you 20 hpbw ?? they told me i did not need to upgrade my clucth for this Flywheel..http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/mazda_rx8.html A lighter flywheel will not give you any HP. WHat it will do is free up HP because of less rotational mass (therefore it takes less power to spin). You might see a couple HP improvement, but its mainly so the engine revs faster. I would not get a flywheel first. In fact it would be one of the latter things I did. Genom 01-16-2004, 05:07 PM ALso remember a lighter flywheel will cause revs to drop much faster. Unless you plan on shifting real fast all the time your gonna spend a ton of time rev matching on the street. Of course, my ass doesnt have a lot of experience with that sorta thing, so I'm sure some peeps with plenty of racing time will say it aint so hard. But for the newbie it isnt that easy. |
