Hay if just wondering if anyone tried to to install the new tail lights to a older rx8 ?? i used to have a custom made led tail lights, but when i crashed my car i smashed my taillights to i was thinking of remakeing the custom made led taillights but does new taillights looks lot better then my custom made lights lo.

we havent received them yet.......you guys are so lucky you get them first

Yea you are right nuke0907 you can modify the rear bumper little bit to fit does new lights. I searched around Japanese blog websites and new back bumper goes on to our older rx-8 without any trouble.
So what I might do is that I will wait for an aftermarket body kit for the new rx-8 then buy that then buy the new tail lights

i wonder how the 180sx kouki lights would look on an rx8, the rears. PS anyone?

I forgot to mention, it's been done and you'll need a little more than a little work to have the tail lights fit right. You better off just buying the new 2009 rear bumper, if you want everything to fit and look like stock.

The word "generic" comes to mind. Looks like every other Altezza's out there. At least 1st gen lights were a SLIGHTLY more unique.

Woah, I just went outside to the garage to check but yeah...looks like my sister's (2004) Mazda 6. No disrespect to the other Mazdas but come on! You got an 8, no need to confuse everyone BEHIND you, cuz that's where they'll be, no doubt. stick with the stock. It's pimp as is.

I like the body kit though and don't take offense to my opinion. I got a stock 8 without even the appearance package. Just my thoughts.

They're not bad...but I'm not going to go through the trouble of putting them on my car

I will just stick with my balck outs, though I do like the style... they just make me think of the 6's and 3's out there. I like to keep people guessing on the road- you know, no emblems, unrecognizable tail lights, that whole shabang.

They look ok, but I'm a fitment freak. If i put them on my car and it came out like that picture I would be pissed the fuk off.

I think the Led's really update the car nicely. My black 04 is getting 2008 front and read bumper from my insurance company for some of my girl friends poor driving habits. I would be all over a pair of 09 lights if I found some reasonably priced... I have a condensation problem with the ones I have currently.

The stock 04-08 tail lights are hideous!! actually they are some of the most disgusting taillights I've ever seen, they remind me of a 96 civic with some apc's.

every time I look at the back of my car I wish I had the 09's

There's something about the 09s tails that I just don't like. I don't know what it is exactly, it's not like there's anything that screams at me that they're ugly or anything. They just sort of don't jive with me for some reason.

im not a fan of the front ends on the 9's but damn that rear is sexy.

will the 09 rear bumper fit the earier models?

^ nobody tried that as far as I know... but that'd be the only way to fit the new lights properly to the earlier car.
I have a feeling that the mounting points of the bumper will be different enough so that it's not a straight swap.

definitely looks like my girlfriends 08 3. seriously guys the earlier taillights might not be the best but to put new tail lights on an older 8? thats an insult. youre making your car look like every other 3 and 6 out there. stick to the stocks. unless youre going blackout or aftermarket. just my opinion
