STORY:
Mazda Corral Planned For Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – Monterey Festival of Speed
Corral to present Mazda enthusiasts with great benefits & laps around the famed circuit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 6, 2008

SALINAS, CA (May 6, 2008) – The 2008 Monterey “Festival of Speed” at MAZDA Raceway Laguna Seca kicks off over the May 16-18 weekend and Mazda owners have yet another reason to take in the action. The Mazda Owners Club of America and MAZDA have planned a Mazda Corral open to any Mazda owner & enthusiasts in attendance

“We hope Mazda owners take advantage of the Mazda Corral at the Monterey Festival of Speed,” said Marc Miller, co-founder of the MazdaOCA. “Historically, this has been a very exciting event, with a mix of GT and formula car racing action as well as some beautiful vintage cars on track. Thanks to Mazda, we can offer those who are living the Zoom Zoom lifestyle with not only preferred parking and fellowship with other Mazda owners, but parade lap opportunities and some great free gifts.”

Sponsors of the event include the Mazda Owners Club of America (www.MazdaOCA.org), MAZDASPEED and Mazda. Several regional and local Mazda clubs have volunteered to help as well, showing their support.

Mazda Corral participants will receive plenty of benefits over the duration of the event. In addition to exclusive parking for the duration of the weekend, ticket-holders will also be provided with a Mazda “goody-bag”, meet & greet with Mazda drivers/teams and a daily pass for parade laps in your Mazda around Mazda Raceway, an opportunity that few people get.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a few days at an enthusiast event in South Carolina attended by 350 Mazda owners,” said Mazda’s Kim Neal, responsible for the relationship between Mazda North American Operations and all the independent enthusiast and owner clubs. “Without a doubt, the events that our enthusiasts and owner clubs organize are not only a great place to meet other Mazda owners who share similar passions, but also an excellent way to learn more about the entire Mazda brand.”

You can watch every race all weekend. You need admission ticket, and only $10 for the corral parking (which includes a grab-bag, paddock tour and parade lap opportunities - in addition to the preferred parking).

Sounds great. so if we already have race tickets, and still need to RSVP for the Corral, do we just pay the Corral fee when we get there? and if so, since we won't have Corral passes in hand, when we get there do we just ask the track personnel to direct us to the Mazda Corral?

oh...and since I *don't* have race tickets, and before I buy 'em online, anyone know of any outlet that is offering discount or 2-fer-1 ticket deals to this event?
(for regular event admission; not for the Mazda Corral...I'll happily pay my $10 for that)
TIA

Whether you have race tickets or not - you will still need to RSVP for the Mazda Corral.

All you will need to do is email scomfort@mazdaoca.org your name and how many corral passes you need by next week Wednesday and make sure you bring her or James (the corral coordinators) $10 per pass when you arrive.

Your name will be placed on a list and you will pick up the corral pass at "Will Call" then make your way to the corral to park.

Should be pretty easy. Once you get in the corral, they should provide you with a schedule for the weekend and your Mazda goodie-bag.

As far as discount tickets... if you pre-order, I think you save $10 over the gate fee. We can't get any other discounts through the track unfortunately.

Also - as of right now - our parade lap is on Sunday only. So make sure you are there to take part in that.
