View Full Version : Say "NO" to yellow... Kev 11-12-2003, 07:50 PM Seems the colour movement has gained some followers in high places :) http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14455 Kas 11-12-2003, 08:30 PM i hope not. I asked for a special order of white but was denied. sco 11-12-2003, 08:42 PM L&L may have a limited edition on his hands?! labrat 11-12-2003, 08:47 PM What could look good is that custardy sort of yellow you see on Porsche. IMO, you need a colour that brings out the styling accents. White sort of blands things out. Kev 11-12-2003, 09:00 PM Originally posted by sco L&L may have a limited edition on his hands?! IMOH I believe that mazda may be thinking off removing yellow on the standard rx8 because they want to use it as a trophy colour in the mazdaspeed supercharged version off the rx8. Every magazine i have bought recently features YELLOW as the trophy colour , on mazaraties s , ferraries , lamborghinis . So my little YELLOW rx8 is in good company . Kev dont worry you can always get your car re sprayed to the best most sought after colour YELLOW. Lock & Load 11-12-2003, 10:37 PM Originally posted by sco L&L may have a limited edition on his hands?! SCO I already new i had a limited edition in my rx8 being YELLOW . HOWEVER THANKS FOR CONFIRMING IT. Kev 11-12-2003, 10:52 PM Originally posted by Lock & Load Kev dont worry you can always get your car re sprayed to the best most sought after colour YELLOW. Urrgghh!!! the though of it! I'd eat the spray gun, compressor and all, before before I'd let that happen :D labrat 11-12-2003, 11:51 PM Why does L&L have to SHOUT when he says yellow? I guess its high visibility, though. I saw a moron the other day, he'd painted his old Land Rover in camouflage. It came out of a dip in the road, and against some trees I could hardly see it. Gave me a hell of a fright. That's one of the reasons I chose a visble colour. OK, doesn't have quite the visibility factor of yellow, but it was next in the Mazda chart, and I'm not a lair.... We had thought about choice of colour quite a bit, and we took particular care observing the effect of car colours on visibility in rain, at twilight etc., and yellow, white, orange and red (last) stood out the most. All dark colours and silver blend into the road. So give L&L some credit, even though it is somewhat vivid. Lock & Load 11-13-2003, 12:13 AM Labrat Yeah you are right i do tend to get over excited at times and shout especially when it comes to yellow , hey i am just passionete about yellow . JoeB 11-13-2003, 03:01 AM L&L, I'm with you! My RX-8 is Yellow and I believe it really shows off the curvacious body line of this car!:D Kev, My previous 2 HSV Clubsports were both Red and I honestly think that every man (and his dog) has owned a red car, but how many are bold enough to own Yellow?????;) Joe JoeB 11-13-2003, 03:07 AM L&L, I'm with you! Joe how would you compare your hsv clubsports to your new toy?? Michael JoeB 11-13-2003, 03:41 AM No where near the grunt of the 5.7L LS1, but overall a more refined complete driving package is how I would best describe the RX-8 in comparison. I have always had V8's and I am still in total shock to have bought a Rotary. Maybe I am getting old (heaven forbid!) at nearly 40, it is the refinement in a performance vehicle that I like best now over the pure sheer GRUNT factor! But, having said all this if a quad cam, 32 valve V8 engine that redlines at say, 8000 rpm was to ever find it's way under the bonnet of a HSV, (who knows, I may live long enough to see this ever happen?) I think I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation......... To sum it up I think I still have mixed emotions probably not due to the car I now own, but from the one that I gave away (yes the shocking resale value practically meant that I did give it away!). Joe Lock & Load 11-13-2003, 05:45 AM Joeb Thanks for your honest reply , life actually begins at 40 , heck i turn 50 in december , and i only feel as old as the women i feel .ha ha ha . One of the reasons i have never owned any hsv or commodores is they are lousy when you try and sell them second hand , hopefully the rx8 will hold its value not as common as clubsports . THANKS MICHAEL takahashi 11-13-2003, 06:12 AM If they are bringing the white RX8 then I am on the paper as easy as that! Someone buy my black RX8?! From DR evil to rx8 white knight.??? sco 11-13-2003, 06:40 AM JoeB.... you and Hymee should get along well... his previous was an LS1 also. My first yellow car (and my first car) was a mini S. My third card (and last yellow car) was a Torana SLR (LX). There are a few yellow things in the house I suppose, but I'm going to get up and paint them red tomorrow. Anyway - who ever heard of having a good time by going out and painting the town yellow? Hmmm? ...your witness. Kas 11-13-2003, 08:21 AM its funny you know. reading posts, wise and well worded posts at that. The reason I say this is the fact that i'm around or even under half the age of most of you's and because we have common ground we can communicate on the same level (or there abouts) chinx 11-13-2003, 01:50 PM Originally posted by Kev Seems the colour movement has gained some followers in high places :) what is your problem against yellows? it's a great color on the 8 and great color for any sports car :p Lock & Load 11-13-2003, 02:12 PM Originally posted by chinx what is your problem against yellows? it's a great color on the 8 and great color for any sports car :p Well said chinx , yeah kev is not a lover of yellow , his loss . I have no problem with the fact that some people like to drive a car that looks as though it's been carved from a huge chunk of cheese. But!!! How would you like to drive a real RED blooded sports car? timbo 11-13-2003, 03:54 PM Originally posted by takahashi If they are bringing the white RX8 then I am on the paper as easy as that! I thought it would have been much closer to 1<<3 Dez 11-14-2003, 05:40 AM ha! actually.. I was killing time reading more of the historical posts before I jumped in the car and went for a fang.. Iv'e been trying to find another driver for company, but it seems everyone's in for the night, working 36 hour days [ Kev ] etc so it looks like it's just me and Timo Mass ( thanks to Fat Boy Slim ). Yea.. I was bored.. but I figured bit shifting was a little to "out there" for the general population - my mistake ;-P ++dez; pricer01 11-14-2003, 05:48 AM Back on topic .. How long do we have to put up with the pointless debate between Red and Yellow ... Its well recognised that THE best cvolour is Titanium !!! :-) Dez 11-14-2003, 06:37 AM Rob, that fast drive home must have forced too much blood to the back of your brain * grin * - Titanium is a nice color, I'll grant you that.. but.. mazda already made it clear which color won the war.. Winning Blue !! The name says it all.. ++dez; pricer01 11-14-2003, 02:30 PM Dez ... We all know that the RX8 colour names in some way relate to the project team members in the Mazda shop - a traditional tribute given to the development team at Japanese factories. This tradition has given us such sesational names as PAJERO ! Sadly the mazda company's mother tongue is not english ... however they are fortunate that their spelling error is in fact a legitimate word ... The blue colour was nominated in honour of Hiroshi who was in the design team from day 1. Hiroshi was in charge of the interior and the team awarded him a colour name due to the sensational outcome. Ironic fate however meant that Hiroshi never got to sit in the interior of the car as he is a large gentleman, in fact he was a former SUMO. What this meant however was that Hiroshi was always complaining about things .. the word they were is fact trying to correctly spell is WHINING BLUE in tribute to Hiroshi's daily complaining ... Maybe next time I'll explain how the development teams only female engineer, was awarded the titanium colour! Rob Kev 11-14-2003, 05:12 PM LOL, So the original factory nipple port sunroof for the titanium car never made it out of japan ... along with it being the only colour to be shipped with a pre installed bra ... Dez 11-15-2003, 09:26 PM well I'll be.. * smile * ++dez; jax8 11-16-2003, 11:33 PM Mazda Artarmon has advertised a yellow demo. 8 in the SMH for the last 2 week-ends, at a very reasonable $61k (from memory.)
