Okay guys,
is this hard?

My lip has a few chips from me hitting a cone. Gonna get it redone and repainted.

The body shop guy said that if he takes the lip out, I wont be able to drive the car because the plastic underneath the lip will hang out and buffet in the wind and possibly rip off. He has to take the plastic underpieces off.

Is this true? I was hoping he can take only my lip off, and work on it while I use my rx8 as the daily. for 2 days or so.

The black plastic lip or the body-coloured air dam both contain all of the threaded nuts that the plastic tray bolts into. So he's correct in that if you remove that air dam you will have nothing to secure the plastic tray to all along the lower front end of your bumper, and it will hang down and act like a huge wind scoop.

^ +1. I installed my front air dam myself about a month ago, and what he says is true.

so the only option if i wanted to drive around with no lip, is to remove the center plastic underlining and the side plastic underlinings?

will that mean removing the plastic on the underside of the whole wheel well?

how many plastic pieces are there beside the lip I would have to remove? 6?
