There are a few people that I have shipped replacements to but haven't received their defected one. I need certain parts off of the old units to make new ones. If you're one of these people, please mail it back asap.

Thanks

:uhh: RR,

I installed my replacement module on 5/31 and it worked great, but now (5 days later) it no longer works. I closes only if I keep my finger on the switch (normal closing mode). Is there something I can check out or are others having the same problem? By the way, I may not have returned the first module that was defective so I will have to check my garage to see if I still have it. I didn't see a note to return the old module when I got the new one so I can't swear I didn't throw the bad one away. Sorry.

If you find it, please send it back. Since people are still having problems with these, it's clear that the 555 timer can not support the load of the sun roof relay. It seems that there are variances from car to car in terms of the load the sunroof relay draws.

I just placed an order for 15 ultra low draw relays. These will sit between the sunroof and my module, sinking the load of the sunroof relay. This means that instead of taping the red wire, it will have to be cut. Other than that, the installation will be the same.

If anyone would like to have their money refunded rather than wait for another replacement. Don't be shy, just ask.

By the way, I finished one of these updated circuits today and I'm positive that it will fix the problem.

Rotary Rasp

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience. I completed 5 revised modules and I'm confident that the problem has been solved. The first thing you will notice when you get the new modules is that there is now 4 wires instead of 3. This means the installation will be slightly more complex. The first post will be updated with new instructions in a day or two.

I'm going to mail them out in the next few days.

Thanks!

Revised 4 wire module.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0048.jpg
Step 1: Remove the overhead console by taking out the two screws and pulling the console down.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0292.jpg
Step 2: Locate the red wire and cut it. Make sure you don't cut it too close to the console because will make it hard to work with later. After you cut it, strip about 1/4" of the installation off each wire. I forgot to take pictures of this part... sorry.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0298.jpg
Step 3: Slide on the connectors. The male connector goes on the red wire coming from the console and the female connector goes on the red wire coming from the roof. After the connectors are on the wires, carefully crimp them with pliers.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0296.jpg
Step 4: Attach the ground wire as shown. The ground wire has the black tip. It's also longer than the rest. An 8mm socket is needed to loosen the bolt.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0300.jpg
Step 5: Plug in the two connectors from the module to the car and attach the power wire (the only remaining wire) to the screw located below the red wire.

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/rx8rasp/One%20Touch%20Sunroof/DSCF0302.jpg
Test it. All Done!

But to answer the questions asked. I'm not making anymore because (a) the group buy is long over and (b) I have to order the parts in bulk.

As laythor mentioned, your best bet is to check the for sale thread.

Another option is to buy a module for a single up down for a power window.

Like from DEI

Not as custom but should fit the bill.

I still have one that I never installed. It's still in the original envelope from Rodger, if anybody really wants it. PM me if you really want it.
Being in Florida, I just don't open it that much to warrant putting it in, and if I do open it(rarely) it's not such a big deal to me. No bidding wars or anything, so I will honor Rodgers original price noted in thread one(including his paypal statement)....except the shipping charge(if that has gone up?). I will ship it the cheapest way possible. If you PM me about this..........at least include your zip so I can check, but expect around $5.00 tops for that.
