Don't wanna get a CEL thread going again just thought I'd let people know my situation. In case its happening to them. My CEL has been going off since I had 900 miles on the car. I now have 4800. Anyways they say the code is for a misfire. Anyways my car has been at the dealership 6 or 7 times I'm losing count. They have replaced the spark plugs many times. Changed the coils and last week put in new injectors. This week it came on again plus I smelled raw fuel at startup. Fast forward to today. They want to replace the engine now. I can't believe this. I'm so mad. I know of another thread thats similiar but couldn't find it. I wish Mazda would just give me a new one. I would hate to have them buy back the car and maybe be stuck without a car for awhile and lose money from the extended warranty I bought and my trade in. Plus I would want another RX-8 anyways. Hope this isn't happing to anyone else because Mazda is gonna have big problems. Hopefully they will give me some money or something for going through all this.

Check your lemon laws. In my state, 3 attempts to fix it and it's labeled as a lemon and must be replaced.

yeah it does fall under a lemon law here in California but I still want an RX-8. I would just like them to give me another but I think the only way they do it is a buy back option. I have to check the docs.

that sucks man, hopefully itll be fine after the replacement
if you take the buyback you cannot buy another rx-8, at least not another one new. this is what someone said anyways, and makes a lot of sense, too

someone in the general section said that he sold his back and purchased a new 1 on the same day?

this sucks, man, though my deal is the polar opposite. I never had a CEL, but one day I couldnt start it and then Mazda replaced the engine. Yesterday, the CEL went off on the new engine... In the shop again today.
maybe its the ECU thats wrong, not the engine after all ?

Hey Miata
Did Mazda compensate you for being out of the car for awhile. Just wondering since I'm trying to get them to give me something. And what did the dealer say about the CEL after the new engine was in the car? Apparently Mazda is out of engines, so I might have to wait awhile. I don't know what to believe anymore since I hear confilicting stories from the dealer than from Mazda.

as for the CEL, there were no performance issues, so they reflashed the ECU-
