Sure, I understand that some search is required to get info on specific topics. Sure 'rehashing topics might be boring to the old timers. BUT, there are quite a few new folks on the forum and generally new folks are pretty Enthusiastic about their new vehicle and would like to 'discuss issues important to them. Many times new notions come up in spite of having been covered in the past. And, old timers many times like to browse the 'rehashed thread and educate the newbes. If someone doesn't wish to browse a 'rehashed thread, couldn't they just go to a thread that does interests them?

Yeah, I just had a thread slammed shut on me today.
I think the forum is starting to get to that "stasis" point that forums often hit when there is nothing new to say and the moderators start to get impatient.

Maniac, let's hope not.
Islandsoon, are you saying that the search function doesn't work on closed out threads?
Regardless, I agree that threads should be just closed out without some explanation, something like "See this thread: xxxxxxxxxxxxx"

Good Morning Omicron...
No, the search works. My point is that a current discussion of old topics isn't out of line. Many times, old timers and newbes participate and even cover new ground. I have found that dull, over debated threads simply don't get responses. Threads that are of interest to members do get responses. Maybe it is a capacity issue on this forum that there is pressure close?
Best Regards,
Tom

I just became a moderator here, and for what it's worth, I agree; any threads I end up closing because they're dead horses will have a pointer to the corpse. :p

We do the best we can to provide some insight to the thread or to provide a link. The problem is we don't always have time to look up a link for them. The threads that are closed are usually not just a rehash of some useful information, but something that has been discussed to the point of tedium.
We by no means are trying to be crass. We are just trying to moderate as effectively as possible.
By the way this has bean discussed.;) I'll be nice. Here is a link (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9596).
